  1. i use FX in the UK. they take all their charges out of the rate they give for the Baht. no other charge is made by them. i do note that the sum received in the thai bank is about 600 baht less than the sum sent (on £2000). this is not taken by the thai bank but by the intermediary. i seem to be getting a fair deal, or am i kidding myself and they all take about the same in the end?

  2. I think this topic should have been closed right after post number 1.

    i dont!

My wife and I got our extention of stay for another year from jomtein, no problem last week (sceptic11 please check terminology) we had only a joint letter from uk consulate in Bangkok stating our joint monthly income of 65000 baht. no mention of dependent or follower status? not a question asked at jomtein. we filled in seperare forms, my wife is from the uk. we have been here 2years now. no thai bank accounts of any great sums. are we missing something? should we worry next year? do they give notice of changes?

apart from this we love thailand, although it is a bit chilly now! happy christmas all!!!

  3. i am due to renew visa with a joint letter of income tomorrow, will it be accepted?

    "Visas" are never renewed !

If you explain exactly what you are trying to achieve you may receive good advice .smile.png

forgive my ignorance. my retirement visa expires soon. i am married for nearly 50 years to a uk girl. i would like another 1 year retirement visa. we have joint incomes which excede requirements but not independently for my wife. we do not have enough time to set up bank account for required time. help!
  4. my sister from canada was ill when on holiday here. she received excellent service and treatment. so have i for my diabetes treatments and my family for dental treatment. the costs were not overly expensive. all were done at the bangkok pattaya hospital, it looks clean and the staff are very good although there is always one misery, which i suggest is true in hospitals throughout the world.

i cant give blood because i am diabetic so can be of no assistance, sorry.
