  1. This ^. Some people love to vilify saying "brutally assaulted". The American didn't really do much. No punches, and stopped immediatly when the guy was down.
  2. The best thing about these mega cheap drones is that they fly like a drunk beetle, then when you get something that is actually stable it feels so easy, stable and controllable.
  3. Hahaha The exact type of person you'd expect to turn you in for this stuff
  4. Not the bar stool retired special forces, actual businessmen in their 60s. I don't know how much they have but judging by the properties they own and live in I'm sure they're getting by pretty fine.
  5. Earlier this week I saw on CAAT new restrictions that drone flying was forbidden in the red areas in those provinces that border Cambodia. Then on the same day I saw on Facebook (from CAAT) another post restricting drones all over Thailand. And now I see this: They got really serious about the drones, I'm not so sure the restriction will be lifted anytime soon.
  6. I know some westerners that despite having the money to live in extremely luxury anywhere on the planet, chose Pattaya - and no, not just because of the girls. Safety, climate, good food, and lots of small things that are simply easier around here and would be a pain in the ass in the west. And they agree with me that wealth is abundant in Bangkok. The ones yapping all the time about real estate prices, debt bubble, not sustainable and waiting for the crash are the ones financially on the lower end. I'm not glorifying myself here, sometimes I also catch myself thinking "who the hell would pay 10M for this sh**ty shoebox condo", and boom, all units sold.
  7. I see it everywhere when I go to Bangkok. Those barely making 6 (usd) figures are not even in the top 15%. Porsches, Benz and Alphards everywhere, malls packed with shops selling extravagances (watches for example) that are priced more than my total net worth. People lining up at designer shops selling 50k+ handbags, billboards everywhere advertising condos and houses showing the price in huge numbers (like they're a good deal) "Starting from 50MB" or "45-130MB". I bet most are already sold out. Restaurants selling dishes well over 3k per plate, Omakase at 10k+, all requiring advance booking because they won't have an empty table. Rooftop bars selling even a bottle of water for whatever they want, it doesn't matter, people will flock there and pay. The idea of "farang is rich, Thai is poor" is outdated perhaps 15-20 years. There are millons of Thais way better off than the average farang that goes there with the mindset that they can do everything because it's cheap due to Thailand being "poor". Thai owned wealth is blooming Bangkok and it's not showing signs of stopping anytime soon.
  8. It does feel embarrassing, but I've failed this CAAT Drone pilot test already 3 times and I have no idea why. It gives you 40 questions (most pointless and/or unclear) about information and rules in 5 pdf files. The thing is many of these questions are poorly formulated and there are several cases in which more than one answer looks correct. I must point out that I have always done well with regular tests, let alone "open book" tests which should be a walk in the park, but this particular one looks like a money grab for agencies. I can't believe I'm getting only 26-29 questions correct in my attempts (need 30). Is there a catch I'm missing? I do remember when I did my driver's license exam, they had the answers online and some of them you actually had to answer pick the WRONG answer because that's what the automated verification system had as the correct one.
  9. Exactly, in order to pay that kind of return, the scammer (if not a scammer) would have to be making perhaps double that. ANYONE able to make that kind of return with any investment will sit quiet and become very rich ALONE without letting anyone know. Advertising it online would be tremendously stupid because even if it was true, it definitely wouldn't be something authorities would like.
  10. For those who can't watch the video with sound, it's pretty much this: the camera guy enters the bar after it was closed in a very obnoxious and confrontational way saying he will stay there all night and doesn't give a f... Bar owner introduces himself then the cameraman says it was a joke then proceeds to threaten. The bar owner dealt with the issue swiftly and efficiently, one slap (not punch) then proceeded to remove the idiot from the premises. No unnecessary violence, no beating after the idiot was down. Imo this is how it should be. Definitely a FAFO case, that was the slap his parents should've delivered years ago.
  11. Working on that front might as well start by allowing sex toys, at least a small percentage of people will go for that instead of the real thing.
  12. The dog should this...the owner should that...the law should be... Nothing will happen. Worst case scenario he gets aggro from the whole village and just moves to another village. Same has happened a few years ago when a similar farang owned dog disfigured a 3 year old toddler. The dog lives, the owner just moved villages and had the audacity to say the toddler "provoked" the dog and made it run to the street. It would take a very "important" victim to change something, not an ordinary child or an ordinary dog. Would have to be a child/dog belonging to a very wealthy and powerful family or a loved celebrity, only then some law might be changed.
  13. That explains why the staff member issuing my IDP (in Rayong) was asking me which country I was going to visit. I got the 1968 one. Too bad there are 2 versions, I guess I'll have to go get another one if I ever intend to drive in Japan.
  14. Well, they stopped it because people were cheating and using the extra meter for other stuff in the house. I do plan to start getting into solar at some point.
