I see I'm not the only one. I used to work with a scythe as a kid and teenager to get food for about 100 rabbits. Would love to have one here. Seems like one should import from Europe and sell it here. Many could make great use of it here. And it's not that difficult to learn.

I would love to get a scythe and a spade. Those tools you get here... I killed a new shovel in less then 10 minutes. I was naive enough to think I could dig over my garden. Is there a place in Bangkok or somewhere to get proper tools?

I would like to introduce myself briefly. I am Dominic, German, 38 years old, life and work since 8 years at Koh Samui. I am a dive instructor and quite passionate about scuba diving and free diving.

A few years ago when the financial crisis hit the news I started thinking where this will go in the future. As the problems are just covered instead of being solved it seems to me it will hit harder the next time. So I started thinking what one could do to provide for the future. This is when I first had the idea about farming. My wife, from Prasat, Surin was quite excited about that. She is working in real estate at Koh Samui since 10 years. So we decided to move from Koh Samui to Prasat and start a farm. In my life before Samui I was a banker and after that studied psychology. Means I have no experience about farming. I love where life leads me just be going it. I am very looking forward to plant something and see it grow.

I like this forum a lot as the members are so polite and very helpful. When I read through many of the threads I felt like out there are quite a few guys who think and feel like me. Some of you I feel like I know you already. I also like that here is no colonial racism you find so much amongst westerners in Thailand.

Well I hope to meet some of you guys in the future. For sure I will have thousands of questions. But for now I would like to ask if anyone of in Surin area would like to order something from Samui. We have good coffee here: 500g Douwe Egberts for 130 Baht and quite a few different kinds of coffee from Boncafe (espresso, dark mocha...). We also have a lot of other stuff here. If you need something you cant get in Surin but miss it, let me know I will bring it. We will move in about 1 week. So dont think or hesitate to long )

Maybe you could help me with one thing already. Is it possible to get decent internet in Prasat and where do I have to go to get it?

I am German, 39 years old, male. I am married to a thai citizen, my wife. I life and work in Thailand since 8 years with Non-Immigrant B Visa and workpermit. I have an income around 40.000 Baht and 400.000 Baht in the bank. But this amount s not since 2 months in the bank. My wife got several accounts with around 1,5 million Baht.

My questions:

1) Does the money in my wife's accounts apply to the 400.000 or do I have to have an account in my name with 400.000 Baht since two months?

2) What paperwork do I need to proof my income?

I used http://www.zoomcamera.net/ a few times. I will check the websites recommended here. Zoomcamera got reasonable prices. Compared with Germany prices were quite good.

I live on Koh Samui and I am thinking about to buy a Honda CBR 150.

In the Honda shops on this island here they ask 67.000 to 68.000 Baht for a new bike. How are the prices on the mainland? I saw a number 64.000 Baht in a previous post, is that right?

How is your experience with theft on this particular bike?

Is there any insurance that covers theft? How much does it cost?

How would it effect a CBR 150 user if the bike would go out of production? Du you see any problems about getting spare parts in a few years. I am considering to buy this bike on a 5 to 10 years horizon.
