I have a question.
I already possess a 'Long Stay Visa " originally issued in Los Angeles which I extended in Thailand for an extra year and expires on September 21st.
I understand that I now must apply for a new visa? Which would be easier apply for a new visa in Thailand or wait until I get back to the USA on September 14th?
If I applied in Thailand I would use retirement income from both the USA and the UK. The combined amount is over the the required monthly income. I have letters from both the USA and UK departments involved stating my income. Must I still get a letter from both Embassies showing my income?
If I did apply in Thailand it would be in Trat which is a great small immigration office.
I have a UK passport

I am a UK citizen living in the USA. I found it very easy to get a 12 month long stay visa from the Thai Consulate. I am sure you can do the same in the UK Once that is in place you are free to go to Thai and hire any legal professional you wish to help you.

To re-phrase, I know that with a long stay visa I cannot work.
The real question is how easy or difficult would it be to get a separate work permit / visa with ownership in a Thai company?

I have a Non Immigrant O-A visa. I also own 49% of a limited Thai company.
How easy or difficult would it be to obtain a work permit / visa based on my ownership of a tax paying Thai company?
Many thanks in advance for your replies.

I take Zetia. Crestor and Naispan cholesterol medications. Does anybody know if these are available in Thailand or can someone point me in the direction of a drug formulary that applies to Thailand.
I will be in Thailand for many months and want to check availability before I leave.
Thanks

Hello,
I have a long stay visa which expires in October of this year. At that time I will be in the United States.
Can I renew my long stay visa in the US or must I apply for a new one because I will not be extending/renewing in Thailand?
Thanks in advance

I am in the process of completing my application to send to the Thai Consulate in Los Angeles. In a few days I will be in Thailand for a short stay ( before I send my application in )
My question is ...Can I have my physical and the medical certificate completed in Thailand by a Thai doctor or must I have it done in the USA where the application will be filed?
I did call the Thai Consulate in Los Angeles and couldn't get an answer to the above question.
Many Thanks

Hi,
Not too many single airlines do " round the world " tickets, but the airline alliances do. You should check out StarAlliance ( United and Lufthansa + ), Sky Team ( Delta and Air France/KLM + ) and One World ( British Airways and American +). All three have their own web sites. Try also airtreks.com
Good luck

I have booked tickets for my TG on Air Asia. All you need is her name and date of birth as it appears on her passport and her passport number and where it was issued. Input all the information as if she was buying the ticket. When you get to the payment section, enter your credit card # and the name and address where the credit card is billed. Once paid email her a copy of her confirmed ticket and she can go to the local internet shop and pick up her copy.
24 hours before her flight she can go back to the internet shop and print her boarding pass ( Air Asia charges to print a boarding pass at the airport )
It works like a charm.
Good luck

Can somebody tell me how easy/difficult it will be for my Thai lady friend of three years to obtain a visitors visa to the United states for a month or so.
She owns her own house, land and bank accounts etc. She has a seasonal business in Koh Chang and wants to visit during the off season.
Should she hire a professional or is that not needed?
-
I just sent my renewal off today.
Just remember that there is a special form on the Embassy web site that you must use if you are paying by credit card.

I would say it isnot the norm. I have never seen it. All the Thais I know take small amounts of food at one time and eat slowly and appear to enjoy their food. Thais eat slowly take food from the main dishes on the table and place it on their plate and politely let the food sit on their plate a while and then eat it.
Just a question for you. Where do you see what you describe?
Very good Koh Chang hotel.

I have been eating recently with Thai families. My question is: When eating do Thais normally chew with their mouth open, make loud chewing noises and also talk with their mouth full of food?
I realize that this is Thailand and I am the visitor but is this the norm?
Honest question.

Great. In that case, be sure to apply for a MULTIPLE ENTRY O-A. With that, every time you exit and reenter Thailand before the original one year term of the visa ends, you get an additional "free" full ONE YEAR each time you reenter Thailand. That is a very desirable feature indeed. So basically you can stretch that one year visa to be more like two years by timing your travel right. With the O-A (as with extensions) you do need to do an address report to Thai immigration every time you are in Thailand for 90 days. Also near to when you are finishing with the O-A permissions to stay, you simply start to apply for annual extensions based on retirement in Thailand like everyone else.Apologies for not being as specific as I should have been. I am intending to apply for the " Retirement " O-A visa in the USA with the financial requirement in a US bank.
Thank you so much.....You have answered my question and some.....Many Thanks

Apologies for not being as specific as I should have been. I am intending to apply for the " Retirement " O-A visa in the USA with the financial requirement in a US bank.

I have looked but couldn't find the answer to my question.
I am just starting the process to obtain a Retirement Visa and I think I understand most of the requirements, but have one question.
With a Retirement Visa am I allowed multiple exits and entries to Thailand without any change to my status or on exit must I start from scratch again and re-apply or is there some sort of re-entry programme and if so are there any caveats or limitations?
Thanks in advance.

Hi All,
I will be arriving Thailand in April and getting my passport stamped at airport ( 30 days ) I plan to visit Cambodia for a few days by land. On exiting Thailand does that cancel the 30 day permit I received at the airport and then on returning 2-3 days later will I only receive a 15 day permit?
In other words ....do I have to be careful with my dates?
Thanks

Thai Airways = best Asian airline
Just love this one!!!

That's all not the problem,if I travel to other countries like UAE,Malaysia,Singapore or back to Europe, the passport control takes 1-2minutes per person, sometimes less than that, here in Thailand it takes 3-5 min.i think Thai immigration officers are afraid to make a mistake,or maybe their computer is outdated
Never flown into a major airport in the US, have you? I waited for at least 15 minutes in the US citizens queue at San Francisco recently
15 minutes...You were very lucky!! Many times I have had to wait in the hallway on the walk up to Immigration.

I want to visit Thailand { Koh Chang ) frequently this year.
If I use a Tourist 60 day visa with multiple entries ( 3 ). Does that mean I can visit Thailand, return to the US and re-visit say 2 months later on the same visa using one of the unused multiple entries?
Or does the visa just exist for the 60 days and I must use the multiple entries within that 60 days?

Yes was in the ANA lounge at the 50's gate area yesterday and all was great except he internet connection was slower than snail pace.I experience that in many business class lounges around the world... They seem to have been designed before the advent of the internet and business people actually wanting to use their laptop. OK, I haven't encountered a lounge without free Wifi yet (apart from Vientiane), but finding an electric plug is often a challenge.
I am constantly amazed that airline lounge designers usually do not take into account that so many passengers need to plug in and work while they are in a lounge. Or maybe charge your iPhone or whatever. Even new lounges open up with no access to power points at all. For example, have a look at the newish Star Alliance business class lounge at Incheon. I have yet to find a single power outlet anywhere in the entire lounge area.
The United/Star Alliance lounge at Narita is one of the few that does it right. Nearly every seat in the lounge has power points running down a wooden strip between pairs of seats. Outlets are very easy to access and there are plenty of them.
Power points in Thai's BKK lounges is sparse, but you can usually find one somewhere. You may have to unplug a lamp to get at it though.
Next time you're at Narita, go to the ANA Lounge instead. I find it much better than the UA lounge, design is more appealing, no problems with plugs either, and they have draft beer.
Well the ANA lounge does have power outlets, but not nearly enough and you may have search around a bit to find one. Also, the UA lounge has draught beer as well, dispensed from those amazing Japanese robotic beer dispensers. Sometimes I get a beer even if I don't want one just for the thrill of watching it tilt the glass and make the perfect head. ANA also have nicer shower rooms, and the Japanese noodle bar is nice. One tip: There are two ANA lounges. Head for the one out by the 50s gates. The other one is in the basement and windowless and can be sort of dark and claustrophobic.

Hello and many thanks.
The UK Embassy did, in fact, confirm that would compose an income letter using incomes from both UK and US.
