  1. Does anyone know a brand called "Alpha"?

Today at Tesco I stumbled to 40" Full HD LCD TV with a price tag of 12 990 Baht.

It has 3 X HDMI, USB, pc connector (I recon that is same as HDMI or DVI?), and audio outputs.

Product is LWD403AA but this returns no results from google.

I tried to find info about it but with no luck.

The TV can be found here: http://www.tescolotus.com/showpromotion.php?lang=en&id=280&photoid=3725

Second last row in the middle.

At the store I could not really see if there is any difference in the quality with the other 5000 baht more expensive models from the well known brands.

The "huge" discount of 1000 baht is available until June 9th.

  2. Does anyone know good (= cheap) shops for secondhand laptops in Bangkok?

I'm looking especially Apple laptops, the newer the better.

For example, is there any shops in Chatuchak weekend market?

Other than looking from pawn shops the the only place I have found is the online shop (found from this forum).

The second hand ones seem to be very expensive, some at the same level as what a new one from Apple store would cost.

  3. I had this issue for a long time with two iPhone 3GS devices. I think it started way back last year already.

Tethering just disables itself several times a day and sometimes I had to wait until it was possible to turn it on again. This could have something to do with True fiddling around with the network.

The way to get around it is to jailbreak the phone and get MyWi or similar program from Cydia installer. This way you don't need to enable the tethering at all and can even use the phone as wireless router.

Few months ago they started calling about "upgrading" my plans to better one. I considered that my plan is already the best I can have (The original 599 Baht / month & unlimited data). I asked for details on how the thing is going to change and they never said that there is a limit on internet use, just that I can then use their wireless hot spots with very nice speeds ;)

I didn't want any upgrades but seems that I got moved to the new limited plan anyways, now I got the same 3GB monthly data usage limit until the connection is downgraded to 0.25mb/s.

Well I just cancelled one of the contracts and got a 3BB ADSL, works like a dream now :)

  4. Regarding the payment systems online:

You can set your shop to accept credit cards via Moneybookers (or similar). All the payments you get will be stored in your Moneybookers account and you can have a debit Mastercard from them to withdraw the money at any ATM.

This way you don't really need to worry about the tax issues in here, but of course it's not the legally correct way.

With PayPal you can also receive credit cards and then either spend the money online or transfer to your Thai or US bank, depending what country your PayPal account is registered to.

I have set up several e-commerce sites for my clients and I'm quite sure that most of them have never worried about declaring the income if it's about small money.
