  1. Immigration will be located directly below Tom n Toms. Directly next to it will be an office. And next to that a copy shop. The Burmese building across the street will remain.

The current immigration will have it's last day on the 12th of June. On the 15th they will be at Promenada.

There is direct access to the parking garage from that location, so immigration can open at anytime they see fit.

I know the gm at Promenada, so this is accurate.

  2. The child is 100% Thai and 100% American.

The Thai birth certificate must be applied for at the Thai embassy/ general consulate for the area the child was born. But you can apply through the Thai Foreign Ministry, Consular department. They will process the application for the Thai birth certificate and certify everything. Next they send it to the US for processing by the embassy and they will issue the Thai birth certificate, which is then send to you.

www.consular.go.th is their website, mostly in Thai. You probably need to talk to the Thai nationality section. The Consular department is reported to be very helpful.

Thanks for your reply Mario2008, much obliged. I will report back with what happens.

  3. Father: US citizen

    Mother: Thai citizen

Son: aged 5, born in US with US citizenship and passport.

All of the above now living in Thailand. Although 1 year ago parents got divorced, father got parental control of son, but are still living in Thailand.

Father is on good terms with mother/still talks with her.

How can the father get a Thai birth certificate/citizenship for his son?

The father is under the impression he must go to a Thai embassy in the US to do this. He wants to do it here in Thailand.

  4. Last week while scanning through the free to air channels on vinasat 2 I noticed CTH promoting there future channels, these were on dedicated channels not just adverts. Might want to check it out, I remember the signal was breaking up even at 80% signal.

  5. Recently a couple friends living in America posted a link to http://createsend.com/t/r-86C3925E5D13279F on facebook to donate to this Soi Dog Foundation. As I was reading through the page it sounded far fetched to me and I was wondering if it was a gimmick or a real foundation.

"June pictured right, is one of the many dogs rescued in a recent crackdown and will soon be on her way to a loving home in America." Sending thai dogs to America? Really?

"Tragically a lot of these dogs are stolen pets. They have obviously been trained and respond to commands, some of them are even still wearing collars." Stolen pets with collars, Iv lived in thailand now for 18 months and cant remember ever seeing a collar.

If this is real Im happy for its existence, It to me just sounds like a news article that has been filled with false statements just to make money. And were is this donation going, they advertise NE Thailand, but there website indicates they are in Phuket. I just dont want my friend's money going in someones pocket.

    Thanks for responses.

  6. All of the burning is from the mass vegetation that grew from all the rain we accumulated during the rainy months. I have a large piece of property to tend to and it is quite amazing how fast it grows with that extra rain. Previous years we hadn't gotten that much.

  7. Yes you should be able to transfer current extension of stay and then make a new normal extension of stay in the new passport in one visit.

It may require two queues if that is what you want to know.

Just to update for future searches, Have all your paperwork ready for the transfer of your current visa and extension to the new passport, you will get two que numbers, the transfer will be first. After that you will have time to make photocopies of the transferred info into your new passport for the extension of stay(visa renewal). If you fill out the forms before hand, fill them out for your new passport. I made the mistake of filling them out for the old passport because I thought that would be first. Luckily I had extra copies waiting to be filled out.

    So new passport first.

    Then extension of stay.

Thought I would post an update for this tread, since i was looking for it.

They don't advertise it but they also have a 999baht 7GB unlimited also, just dial *300 to get it.

I have been using AIS 3G for about 6 months now in Chiangmai, I am located outside the 3BB range (4km from me still) so an aircard is my only option. Typical speed is .7Mbps with a 3/5 bar signal (2km from closest 3g tower), Iv also tested it at close range in pantip plaza and achieved 2Mbps.

Even after your throttled down to 384kbps its fast enough to browse the internet, about 48KB/sec.

    Coverage map: http://www.ais.co.th...et/3g/coverage/

  9. Assume you mean 30 KBps?

What does it say in the bottom left corner of the dongle software?

If it says wcdma when idle (HSDPA when connected) you should get better speeds.

If it indicates Edge, then this is the best you'll get with AIS as it means you're outside 3G coverage.

Although it' also possible that when wcdma shows, your slow speed results of you having only a regular Edge data package, with which AIS limits you to 384 kbps (they call it Edge +).

Taking a proper package and you can get 1 mbps (around 90 kBps) with the 30 hour a month 3G package, or the full speed when taking one of the volume based packages....

The full speed isnt much better than the 1 mbps. Im currently getting 1.2 mbps in chiang mai.

  10. I originally came to Thailand on a non-immigrant O visa, I then enrolled in a University and now have a student visa extension. I have to renew my student visa in 2 weeks, and I also need to renew my passport(usa). Today I went to the US Consulate to renew my passport and they said they should have it by next thursday. Now, when I get my new passport from the consulate can I then make one trip to immigration to renew and transfer my student visa? I didnt see this covered prior. I hope what I wrote was clear to understand. Thanks in advance.
