This will hopefully be contained soon as it could do a lot of damage to the economy in some countries.

Also, it is annoying to see the cost of a mask increase  by 500%

I bought one for 10 baht a few months ago. Yesterday I see the same mask on sale for 50 baht.

Contained yes , by stopping them spreading it , they need an Anti virus for it .  Which can take 6 months from the States , who have many clinics working on it .

  2. It is a fact that if you are involved in an accident in Thailand ie: motorbike, pickup etc and it was obviously the Thai's fault, the Police will, in the majority of cases, say it was the farangs fault and that we have to pay up.

More and more of us are using the dash cameras now , so we can produce the evidence, but even with this you will need a Thai witness who is willing to confirm what happened.

BANGKOK, Feb 20 -- The Supreme Court's Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions ordered former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra to appear on March 19 to hear if it will accept a criminal lawsuit against her for trial or not.

If she fails to appear before the court, it can impact her temporary release status or overseas trip request.

Theerathai Charoenwong, secretary to the Supreme Court's Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions, said the court told Ms Yingluck to be present hear the order at 10am on March 19.

In the meantime, the Supreme Court president will convene a general assembly of Supreme Court judges in 14 days so that nine judges can be selected to hear her case.

The attorney general arraigned Ms Yingluck with the court for malfeasance violating Section 157 of the Criminal Code and Section 123/1 of the Corruption Prevention and Suppression Act for failing to stop her loss-ridden rice-pledging scheme.

"If Ms Yingluck does not arrive at the court at the first appointment, there may be a condition for the court to decide whether to temporarily release her or allow her to leave the country," Mr Theerathai said.

Ms Yingluck could put up bail from today on to seek a temporary release, he said.

The statute of limitations of her case lasts 15 years after her alleged wrongdoing. (MCOT online news)

Right Ying , heres what we are going to do, we are going to fool everyone , including the international press, by pretending we are serious about prosecuting you ok.

All you need to do is not turn up, and your free to do what you want , we'll just say that you fled and might come back in 15 yrs , deal .

  4. I agree that Yingluck staying and fighting will certainly enhance her image.

I'm not sure that it would harm, probably help her brother.

A ban from politics, since when the present regime ends it may well be sudden and in the face of very significant opposition (I'm looking several years down the line) I suspect such a ruling, made under the juntas authority would be swiftly binned.

Staying and fighting her case ? She has'nt made an appearance yet, her 'legal team' are stalling the whole fiasco, wake up !

  5. If she goes to jail ,ill eat one of my hats, this fiasco is staged and beggers belief , especially when the deputy PM is asking for compensation, what for the 600 billion.

She as previously stated in the thai news is worth 30 million baht, atleast thats what she claimed, thats in the bank , don't know about her assets.

Also have they not seized her passport, how can she flee without one , joke .

  6. They just took over the beaches in all popular resort areas, set up camp illegally, knowing full well what they were doing and sat back and raked it in.

If they had of been better organised as a association registered and maybe paid some tax, cleaned the beach, controlled the dogs etc etc , maybe , just maybe, then again no, they don't deserve it ,thainess at it best , greed !

  7. i was'nt going to make a comment on this, but felt i had to , reason, its in the news every week now .

About four years ago whilst living in Pattaya, the news broke about a 37 yr old thai mother of two , who turned out on to the Sukumvit Rd at 5 pm having picked her kids up from school.

She turned left onto the main road and did not look right onto the on coming traffic , a lorry hit her on her motorbike, on the inside lane and killed them all outright .

Her two twin sons were killed, along with her !

They were 7 yrs old !

    I rest my case !

  8. I believe the reason you never see a foreigner working as a mechanic here is because the thai immigration forbid it, its one of those listed occupations .

I have atleast two friends who are qualified UK mechanics and both have told me this, .

It seems insane to me why for something so important like road safety they don't allow it , even to train young thais, but yet again, there is no logical explanation.

I had many occassion to question the wiring that has been done on my girlfriends suzuki jeep below the bonnet and in many cases its a guessing game, by the enept thai mechanic, ill not go into detail, cause i could'nt be bothered.

  9. Had to comment, cocopops, i think you are a relative newbe on Tv , right, ive been on here for atleast 3 or four years .

Also ive lived in Thailand for nearly ten years , have thai fam ..... etc etc.

I'm sorry to say you are one of the first posters i can remember referring to yourself as 'we ' as in thai we .

Got a laugh anyhow so thanks for that.

As for the scheme ,flawed from the start , i feel sorry for the poor farmers in this Country, they are treated like sh...t.

AS usual , ill be very surprised it anyone will go to jail, corruption is totally indemic in Thai society

  10. Some posters have been speculating on how long it would take to get from KT to Samui, right in a fast speedboat, and they are, usually twin 250 hp, you would get to Samui in under half an hour.

Fifteen mins to airport motorbike taxi and 6 pm flight , Bkk 7.20, college by 8.30.

    Very do able indeed .

Why bib not check passenger list for that morn, also ask for the cctv footage from airport, scared what they might find, ok UK police you ask ,or is that asking for too much.

I believe though that it was reported that the speedboat was spotted further up the coast near Chompon, it had actually gone into a bay a turned out again as they spotted Pol on the shore.

Im only stating what was reported in the media at the time.

By dismissing all the other evidence , which most of us are aware of , the thai bib are making complete ................. of themselves, thats on a global perspective now , and yes channel 4 investigators would be welcome.

Koh Tao to Samui: 70km, can you point me to a passenger speed boat that does over 150km/h? rolleyes.gif

didn't you know ? its one of those F1 racing boats... LOL

but in all serious, a little over an hour is quite achievable on calm seas, (34nm) even doing it in two hours is a rather sedate 17kts, so you only looking for a boat that can do 25-30kts

30 minutes no way, a little over an hour certainly...thumbsup.gif

I HAVE A JET SKI 750 YAM WAVE RUNNER, i can do it in half hour !!!!
