I live right next to the railway line on the way to U-Tapao airport  the line is not even dual track yet (dual bit stops in north Pattaya) let alone any sign at all they are building the elevated rail line

for a 250KPH train....  I would go for the cheaper  "intercity 125"  like they use in the UK

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/InterCity_125

But 125 is 125 miles an hour = 201kph, so why would that be cheaper than 250kph

It is sad news, no doubt about it. Nobody deserves this.

But the "low life" comments come from people with brain refusing these "generous" statements. It is easy to be generous if you are still left with $5 billion net worth.

And the money were not earned by inventing amazing products or improving peoples' life. But solely by taking advantage of customers who are stuck at the airport where practice considered illegal in most of the world = monopoly, is in place.

Just like the thief in the desert - couldn't make a business work until he obtained a monopoly. These aren't great business men, just common thieves in suits who through corruption make vast amounts of money

  3. From Wikipedia

The government of Thailand was a major purchaser of the Alpha 6. The country's Interior Ministry bought 479 of the devices and the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB), part of the Justice Ministry, bought a further 15.[5] The ONCB began using the devices in 2007 to combat drug smuggling in northern Thailand. It bought its units at a price of 400,000 baht (US$12,000) apiece. It claimed that its Alpha 6 units were highly effective, achieving a 70 percent success rate and helping to identify drug traffickers and smuggled drugs.[16]The head of the OCNB, Police Lt General Krissana Phon-anan, said that the devices work so well that the agency no longer uses dogs to detect narcotics. The Interior Ministry plans to procure more Alpha 6 devices and train 1,000 volunteers to use them.[5] Its own Alpha 6 devices were procured at a much higher price than those of the Narcotics Control Board, at 720,000 baht (US$21,600) each.[17] The total cost of the devices has been around 351 million baht (US$10.6 million).

NACC    Here is the corruption that you couldn't find after 10 years of investigation

Narcotics Control Board paid 400,000bt each

Interior Ministry paid 720,00bt for the same item

Whose pockets did the extra 280,000bt per device end up in.

  4. My understanding is that origionally it was permitted to build 315 condo rooms,

But when the developer decided to change the smaller side to a hotel, the rooms didn't need to be so big, eg no kitchen and no 2 bedroom. hence the increase in rooms with the same floor area

The change from condos to hotel may have been caused by a slow down in condo sales.

Does anyone know of a purchaser who had his condo moved from one side to the other to allow for the hotel.

  5. Maybe some of the  land expropriation problems are caused by government officials and people of influence finding out about the planned route beforehand and buying up land cheaply from the unsuspecting original owners. Then hold out for a much higher sale price once the project goes ahead. I would love to see an investigation of the chanotes of the land along transport routes to see how long ago the current owners purchased the land.
