  1. It is not her fault where she was born or what nationality she have and definitely not her fault been in Bangla road. If she was NOT French then why the French embassy were looking for her and her sister.

I did not blame her on anything. Don't assume things. It is a sad story indeed, I do not deny it.

I do speak six language and Thai very good but still that doesnt make that I have nationality for all. The story here is very unclear about many things, but for me the name Claude de Crissey sounds very French so it seems more than typo error about the native language her from the gazette more than Mr Claude speak Macaroon Arabic(this is as much assumption as your first post!).

Claude Crissey might be French, the French Embassy might be efficient and welcoming, the rescue volunteers are certainly very helpful, however, the little girl is lost, dead mother and father probably in jail, she does NOT speak french obviously and they are going to be send back to their grandmother (so, I guess, retired). Those are facts, not my opinion.

Now my opinion is simple (and I don't ask anyone to share it), these little girls will be better off in Morocco where they seem to be from(even though yes I never spoke to those girls to confirm that).

  2. French girls, French embassy, French social services, Mr de Crissey, a Frenchman. What part of the article is it that is not clear to you?. The children did not pick the nationality of either of their parents, their own nationality is pretty clear.

I never said she doesn't have the French nationality. I said she might not be native AND that she does not speak French.

What part of my comment is not clear to you ?

  3. Came back from Hua HIn last time under the rain.. It felt actually nice. Cruising around 100km/h, the weather was cool and the rain last all the way to Bangkok. I was wearing a waterproof shirt underneath my jacket, so only my pants, hands and boots were wet. I believe as long as your chest is dry, it is not horrible to ride under the rain, and you feel cold is your chest is wet.

I ride under the rain very often, and I don't like it much in the city, but on the long road it does not bother me much.

    Ride careful folks

  4. "Consider those crash bars folding back and actually trapping your foot." I've seen enough wrecked bikes over the last 50 years to know there is truth in that statement. Don't do it folks!

Crash bars are only rollover protection for a parked bike.

Again that depends on experiences. Even if I agree there is a risk you can get injured, all crash bar won't work the same way, depending on the big and how it is installed and how the crash occurs.

I have never had any since I found them terribly ugly, however it is used commonly enough to agreed that it does not represent a direct danger.

A helmet can save you life, but it can also kill out if the chin strap is too tight for instance, a motocross helmet can be dangerous on a front face crash since the chin guard will broke into pieces more easily than a full face road helmet and can hit your eyes or so.

So crash bars, I would say "yes" if the look does not bother you much. However there is different type for a same bike. Take a Hornet for instance, you can have crash bar in different design and shape or only those small guards on the side of the engine.

Depending on the bike, those crash elements will be mounted on the frame or on the engine. On Hornet, it is wisely recommended not to use them since it is mounted on the engine fixation to the frame and those fixations will break 90% of the time when you crash while equipped with those engine guards, even a low speed. The problem is that you can weld a frame quite easily but not an engine, due to its composition. So in the case of the Hornet, it may, in certain situation, do more damage than anything else.

So my advice is to look where those crash bars would be located and mounted on the bike. For example, the one on police Tigers are obviously not for crash but if the bike dropped on the side. They also use it as holster for their equipment. Stunters use crash bars on sportbike because they mainly drop the bike at veeeery low speed.

Now if you have a sportbike and use it on the track or open road, I will suggest you to take the engine guards. It is lighter, smaller, more discreet, and plenty efficient enough for what you are (hopefully) not using it. But remember, most "crash safety" stuffs to put on the bike are effective at very low speed or when stopped. If you crash while riding at normal speed, your bike might be wrecked anyway.

    Hope it helps the OP.

  5. Last I checked, this was an open forum. If you want to report good news, then start a thread and post your good news.

Last I checked, it is the Admin posting most of those news. Again, I am not saying it shouldn't be reported, I am saying there must be other good news that could be reported and gives a better image of Phuket as I am sure there is good things happening there.

After 9 pages of comments, the story did not move an inch even though we all think we know what happen. Truth is, there isn't enough facts to be sure. But obviously, that's the kind of stories people want, because we all have a little something to teach to others...

I am sure there is some people opening nice business, or some small festivals or else that are worth talking about a bit more.

  6. CBR150 with twin headlight and sports rear.

What were you expecting ? It is a CBR, they made the 250 look like the 1000 to attract young riders. Almost all brand do that, it's a marketing strategy..whistling.gif

Now the CBR style you like it or not, I can understand, I am too not a big fan of the look since '09. But it is totally normal that Honda keep the same design, I don't see what is surprising here.

The evolution of the CBR is not much indeed, however Honda said they were working on a new V4 engine sportbike, they never said it would be the CBR (I could be wrong).

I am expecting much more on a new RC with a V4 engine, let the CBR be the commercial super bike for Honda, it is a awesome bike and easy to ride. I think they took the good decision to leave it the way it was.

  7. Cool, no problem. So I thing we both agree the forum is doing its job. If a German guy gets sent to ICU by a local gang over a 100B fare, it sounds like the sort of thing that should be reported no? Or should we ration tuk-tuk beating stories to 1 a month say?

I agree, Thailand has amazing things to offer visitors. So anything that can help steer them away from places like Patong can only be a good thing imho.

Indeed. Phuket is a wonderful place but sadly the Phuket forum on Thaivisa is full of "sad" or tragic" news. I am not saying those stories don't matter or should not be reported, I am saying ThaiVisa should try to equally report good news and maybe smaller events that also show a good image of this island.

I hope the German man will recover soon.

  8. I didn't think the function of ThaiVisa.com was to "help Thailand". But to inform.

If you just think you are being fed scams, why not just leave? Nobody is forcing you to read the thai "News of the World" (that's shut by the way).

A lot of people who wants to have feedback about a place before they go often refers to forum, Thaivisa is a main one. Sure it is meant to inform, but I believe it can help people choosing one destination or another.

As ScubbaBuddha reminded us, there is a lot of stories about Phuket and the fact that is it not safe.

Of course nobody is forcing me to read, but I do what I want. As much as nobody force you to read my comment or reply to me. You share your opinion, I guess I can share mine.

  9. Really? I'm really confused by your comment. Your not sure which bothers you more?...a group of above the law thugs repeatedly hospitalizing tourists or news outlets reporting it and the subsequent peoples comments about it? Your solution then is to stop reporting it? Wow...I guess you got your priorities in line then. How about you just stop reading the news then? Problem solved.

Did you learn something new on this topic ? Except the news itself of course, are you even a bit surprised to hear about tuktuk drivers being a mafia in Phuket ?

Did you give precious informations or share any experiences that help readers to understand more the situation there ?

90% of the comments here aren't familiar to you ? Don't you think it is the same comment every time there is a topic on tuktuk driver in Phuket ?

And do you think that Thaivisa relating this kind of news as priority on Phuket forum is the best way to calm things down, to help the image of Phuket, to change people attitude ?

As you said, I have my priorities in line, and knowing about thief in Phuket isn't. Don't get me wrong, I feel the story is horrible, but I am talking about the amount of similar stories. Most of the time I receive an email from ThaiVisa, it is for a scam story.

I believe Thailand still has "amazing" things to share, and sharing news like that on the main thai forum that people read is not going to help Thailand. I would just feel a bit sad if ThaiVisa become the thai "News of the World".

I am not saying news shouldn't be shared, but shared in a smart way. I guess one's feed the mass with what mass wants. jap.gif

  10. Some times It's just better to shut your mouth and pay the extra 100 baht.Pushing the tuk tuk driver and making him lose face didn't help matters either. If he had of agreed to pay 50 baht ,

both parties could have sorted it out without the guy ending up in ICU.

Agreed, however "pushing" the driver is what came out from the police report. I guess it justify the beating a bit more than if the german guy did not touch the tuktuk driver at all.

No idea what happened there of course, but with or without the pushing, I am pretty much sure that our german fellow would have end up in the ICU. Like anyone would believe the fight won't have start if the farang did not "push" the driver (or simply touched him while the driver was standing on his way...)

  11. I don't know if I am more tired of reading always the same story about tuktuk drivers in Phuket or by the fact that Thai-visa loves sharing those informations that will only end up by having a flood of comments on how tuktuk drivers are mafia, how corrupted is the police, how can one be stupid enough to believe that government will do something etc...

News are quite often the same and comments are quite often similar.

  12. I do have a question about WP3 too. Most of this procedure works if the company is Thai apparently.

But I just got hired by a HongKong company for developping business in Thailand, Indonesia and Amlaysia. For convenience reason, they want me to be based in Thailand.

I will leave next week to HK, my question is : do I have to go monday to the immigration to pick up the WP3 form ? I am currently living in Bangkok.

Any others suggestions ? I just thought no need to create a new topic out of it, but I can do if necessary

Thanks in advance for your help

  13. Thanks for you reply.

Classifieds section is good if you have only few items, but I have really a lot (a whole night club equipment) and it is pro oriented, not the kind of equipment you'll buy for the living room.

I tried to find night club owners forum or website, I found some pro website but they only sell of course.

Basically I am looking to sell it to someone who already owns a club OR someone who plan to open one.

Equipment are pro brand such as Pioneer, Martin Audio, Crown, Extron, Robe etc...

    Thank you

  14. Hello everyone,

I have a bunch of equipment (audio and video) for sale, professional equipment I used in my club. We unfortunately closed the club after almost 3 years and we are now looking for selling all our equipments. (Amplifiers, CDJs, Mixer, Speakers, sub, plasma TV, light scanner, fog machine etc..)

Does someone know a professional website/forum for this kinds of goods ? Classifieds section of Thaivisa is good but I have a lot of equipment and I guess it is most probably people who want to open a club or those who already have a club/bar and looking for updating their actual equipment.

I thank you in advance for any help you can bring.

    Tibo
