  1. Dear all,

We just got our passports back (our personal effects/used household) from clearance at customs in BKK.

The moving company says that this is a normal stamp from customs and just says that we have brought our personal effects/used household to Thailand.

Could somebody please translate it to me word by word?

So we know the exact meaning / full sentences.

    Thank you very much,

  2. Reason for extension - name/nationality/passport and the reason you are requesting extension and signature.

Sponsorship - been is use for years - fill in bio data at top and sign - room for a sponsor and processing officer to fill out other areas and sign.

A new laws/penalty for various things summary that you fill out name/nationality/passport and sign. Believe this replaced/expanded the loss of reason means loss of extension form used last year.

    Thank you very much.

  3. As an update, I just wanted to report how my van trips went and some observations that came up.

So, as other members said, vans #10 can be taken from Mo Chit BTS Station to Chaeng Wattana Soi 7. Note that in order to take any #10 van from the BTS Station, you have to go to Chatuchak Part and MRT exit side and you'll see a line of vans taking passengers. From there, van #10 costs THB 25 and drops you near CAT building. That means you have to walk like 10 seconds and make a left on Soi 7. If you get there before 8.45am, there's a free shuttle bus that drops you at the Eastern side of Immigration Building B.

However, on the way back, things get more THAI complicated! There's a banner in Thai saying that frequency of free shuttle bus is 30 minutes from 11.30am to 4.30pm. Waiting quite a bit, I didn't see any free shuttle bus coming though. I asked a few people about it, including the information desk and one soldier standing in front of the building, but they were quite useless, and didn't even know there was a free shuttle bus service. Instead of the free shuttle bus, #66 and #166 buses are running every 10 minutes. Those are standard buses that go to Victory Monument and Central Pinklao. But, I don't know whether they stop back at Soi 7, as my purpose was to take the van back to Mo Chit. So, I took a motorcycle taxi for THB20 (banner displayed trip to Soi 7 for THB10, but anyway). I then took the sky bridge to cross the road and waited for #10 van at the "Sukkhothai" style bus stop. The fare is identical regardless the stop you are getting in from.

Besides the free shuttle bus mystery on the way back, vans are faster than cabs, as they take the highway and know where they are going!

    Hope it helps!

    Dear Will2011

Many Thanks, description very clear and helped a lot. I found the "Sukkhothai" bus stop immediately :-)

Just the van 10 is running from there back to Mo Chit about every 20 minutes, just wait...

    Thanks again, Prin

  4. Very usefully information...went today (Saturday they have open until 17:00) and bought small boxes, just for your info: 30cmx30cmx 25 for THB 16.-- each and 32cmx32cmx46cm for THB 33.--...these are the smallest they have. The lady owner send the staff to find a taxi for me (to the bigger road). Attached pictures of the shop (in 3 townhouses).

    Many Thanks again

  5. Hello Kitsune

Today, we also went for our ED-extension at Chaeng Wattana...

We moved from Hua Hin to BKK and in Hua Hin we had a one year extension (this is new since last year at Immigration HH).

Today (after the first year in HH) - we only received an 90 days extension and the officer and her boss looked at our last extension (1 year) in our passport and told us that in BKK there is not such (1 year) an extension for a ED visa - only 90 days.

You might really ask them again - the latest when you do your 90 days notice (report of address) in July.

  7. Hello blossombkk

Yesterday we saw a Dr. Martens shop at MegaBagna Shopping mall (on the way to Ikea-not too far from Ikea). And I remebered your thread: The prices were high THB 5'000.-- up, but they also had a few models for sale.

Hope this helps (attached pics from the shop).

  8. Hello vento

Yes, we found the laundry in the City Viva too expensive.

As we just moved to Sathorn, we found it very difficult to find a decent laundry.

But two weeks ago we found "Dad Laundry" at the far end of Soi Sla Deng 1 (almost corner Rama 4), please check here their website: http://dadlaundry.com/

I also attached their price list that I picked up last week.

The shop is very small in a garage entry, but they do a great job. We only use their THB 30.-- per Kilo service (towels and bedsheets 2 persons: last time 5,8 kilo for THB 173.--). And the (chinese?) lady speaks very good english.

    Hope this helps.

  9. Dear lopburi3, many Thanks again.

Yes, we will make sure that set up everything correctly.

The old school will confirm in a letter that we finish our one year course in May 2013 with them.

This are papers that the new (other) school needs.

And we also have a 90 day Visa entry (see attached) from the embassy in Switzerland (our home country).

Is this what you call "a real 90 day visa entry"?

    So everything should work, hopefully.

  10. You do not obtain a one year ED visa from immigration so that can not be what you have. What is your current permitted to stay until date and when was it obtained? Expect you have an extension of stay for 90 days, six months or one year. When the reason for that extension ends that extension must be canceled immediately.

    Thank you lopburi3,

Yes, you are right, we have an extension of stay, please see the attached copy of my passport (the extension is until end of May - correct?). The 90 days report due on 5th of May.

We will start the new school mid - or end of May (sorry not end of April). Do we need to go for the 90 days report on 5th of May to BKK (but the school paper may be not ready by then)? Do we have to have the new school then maybe start beginning of May?

Many Thanks for your great help.

PS: I can not attach my passport copies...

  11. As for my original question I found out I do not have to leave the country to start a new 1yr course.

I had a meeting with my school and asked them what needs to be done. They answered: One month before my year is up go to them and let them know that I want to study for a new year. That way they can start the paper work for the Ministry of Education. At the end of my course I will have to take a test with the school. Once I do that the school will set up a appointment with MOE, and send someone from the school with me to go to MOE's office for a interview to see If Im ready for the next level of classes. After all that it will be the immigration office to do my 90 day extensions.

To the other persons question with changing locations with school.... I would sit down with the school and ask them what they can do for you and what paper work they can help you with... The Ministry of Education handles all the approvals and accepts a person to learn or not... The immigration office is the one who just gives you your 90 day extensions.... And also you have to go to them to give your address of were you live.... My guess is you will have to go to immigration and fill out a new residency form with your new address. on your next 90 day visit??? Other then that the school should be responsible for helping you with any changes with the ministry of education. lucky it is the same school just different location. I think if you ask them they can handle it with a letter to MOE with the school's stamp.... Or at least send you with papers.

Keithet, thank you, yes we will talk to our new school.

  12. If you are on an extension of stay of an ED-visa and stop studying you need to leave the country.

    Thank you Mario2008

We have a one year (12 months) ED Visa (Immigration Hua Hin). Our new school in Bangkok told us that we do not have to leave the country. Do we have to tell Immigration in HUa Hin that we leave for BKK? And can we go for our 90 days adress notofication directly to BKK immigration next time (a few week before we renew our ED Visa in BKK)?

    Many Thanks

  13. We are in the same situation: finishing our one year course and our school (in Hua Hin) said that we do not have to leave the country.

So this is fine, but does somebody know what happens when moving to another town (from Hua Hin to Bangkok) about the 90 days report:

We have reported to Hua Hin Immigration (90 days report) and are now moving to Bangkok.

Next 90 days report in April (new school starts end of April).

Do we have to advise Hua Hin Immigration in April or can we directly go to Bangkok Immigration in April?

I know that the offficer manager in our building in Bangkok had to report our names to Immigration BKK.

Many Thanks for your help (not sure if I should start a new thread, Thank you).
