  1. ^^ I'm not arguing the above but my understanding is that when applying the 2x factor it should read as +1 stop on the aperture I.e. f1.4 on a 2x crop sensor will equate to f2 on a full frame.

    See here:-

    http://admiringlight.com/blog/full-frame-equivalence-and-why-it-doesnt-matter/

If this is the case then it seems that f3.5 FX is equivalent to c.f2.4 cropped and therefore will produce a narrower DOF.

    Maybe?

Either way, not much in it.

  2. wow, smugmug does look good! I need to investigate it more, but it seems i can simply use them for showcasing my photos to whoever, and for protecting them and for using the site as a back-up for my images. Clearly i can sell too, but just on their simple version it seems a great way to be able to share my photos with whoever i want, for five bucks a month.

Do you sell as well through your site?

Used to sell a few from time to time but really now only interested in showcasing my B+W work. I use the proprietary stock agencies to sell my other commercial work which I don't showcase.

FR said it all in his response. Smugmug is very good.

  3. Looking at what you're shooting you might want to consider what lenses Fuji have that will achieve the effects you seek. I use a Fuji XE-1 and their zooms, as good as they are, are slow and might not be ideal for your purposes. Maybe more choice in the future though. For me I use their primes - 23 and 35mm and also have the M mount adaptor to use my M mount lenses.

Conversely, the OOC jpegs of the X-Trans sensor are simply superb and the RAW files are brilliant ( when you discover the recipe to process them! )

    Food for thought I hope.

  4. Common Tailor

    400/5.6 @ F8; 1/2500sec; ISO500; Man mode.

Looks like a sensor clean in order there Jack.

Lovely shot but somewhat spoilt with the dust mark.

Thanks for pointing that out to me. Tbh, I didn't notice it at all. Is it the 'smudge' below its tail?

Could it not be a dirty lens?

Yes, sensor problem. You wouldn't see that from lens dirt (shows as white). Also some smudging in the lower left corner. Easy to clone out but one day it's going to occur in a critical area of the image and screw it all up.

    Best to sort it now
