I transfer money from the USA into a US$ account here in Thailand and convert it as needed or on a good exchange day.

This is not fog, it is smog. I couldn't see the islands for days before the rain. The rain did help a little.
Time to control burning in Thailand.

5 hours ago, Matzzon said:Fence a minimum of a 3 rai plot in every city. Round up the strays, and put them there. Let all the foreigners that wish go feed them, and put one government worker there to look at everything.
Good idea. People seem to think it is OK to feed strays in someone else's neighborhood where they create problems for the residents. If they want to feed them they should take them home.

It is best to euthanize unwanted animals. That is more humane than letting them run hungry. Anyone who objects should adopt a pet, take it home and care for it. Don't feed it in someone else's neighborhood and don't dump them at a temple.

It looks like they will extend it. Dongtan Beach was closed to everyone at 5 PM on Sunday and today no one was allowed on the beach.

If you want to help soi dogs adopt them and take them home. People should quit dropping them off at the tempes expecting someone else to take care of them. It is not the temples responsibility. People should also quit feeding the dogs in someone elses neighborhood when it it becomes a problem. Abandoned dogs are a big problem and create a big problem.

When they start talking about money I drop them...

I have been here 21 years. Is it really possible than she could 560,000 debt? I do not think it is possible. Banks do not lend money on unsecured credit.
The debt is her problem not yours. You probably haven't seen the support for the debt. Just tell her you cannot pay the debt. If she still likes you enjoy, if not find another.

You should address this question to the local immigration office. Chonburi Immigration on Soi 5 in Jomtien said that 50% of the monies in a joint account would be accepted for visa extensions.

I keep funds in Bangkok Bank in a foreign currency account and convert to Thai baht as I need it or when the exchange is high(er).
I have extended my retirement visa two times using the funds in the foreign currency account. I get the required letter from the bank. The Chonburi Immigration has not given me problems in accepting the foreign currency account.

In Pattaya I have monies in a long term saving which guarantees a credit card. BKK Bank notes the amount at the bottom of the letter and the Immigration accepts this as part of the required amount to extend the retirement visa. I've had no problems.
Best to check with the local immigration.

I would get the O-A visa in England before you come. You can enter and leave Thailand during the year and each time you come back you'll get a year extension unless they change the rules. At the end of the O-A you leave the country and get a non-immigrant O when you return that is good for another year.
I have not had problems getting my visa renewed every year - 1,900 for the non-immigrant O plus costs of bank letter and Embassy letter.

Rubber snakes don't work. I've tried it. The CD's do.
The best thing is tiger urine. If you don't have it try what you do have. You won't smell it but it works.
I had them nesting in a flower pot. I put some in the pot and they don't come anymore.

They don't like the smell of urine placed where they are nesting. Tiger urine is best. Take it from there. It works.

Any chance that you have a pension that added to the income you have in the bank would meet the 800,000 requirement?
Also, you might want to consider have a Thai account in U.S.$ so you can convert the funds when the exchange rate is goo.

I have never been ask for a medical certificate either.

I was walking with some friends one night. We had just come from 7-11 and a friend had bought some snacks. He gave them to a kid begging on the street. The kid threw the snacks in the bushes behind him and continued begging. He didn't even say thank you.

Reminds me of the guys crawling on their stomachs pushing a bowl but the soles of their feet are black with dirt, the man near Central World in Bangkok with no arms and a cup in his mouth (his arms well concealed) and the little girl who years ago was dropped off at different BTS stations who sat there beating a drum. I'm told she tool in more than 30,000/month. The last time I saw her she hadn't been cared for. I feel bad for them but don't give. I've read where children were dismembered on purpose to be beggars. I also saw Slumdog Millionaire. Very sad movie. I wish I had not.

Bleeding hearts should adopt a dog or 3 and take them home to be cared for and not feed them in someone else's neighborhood since the packs become a problem for the neighborhood.

Taking the ID care protects both you, your neighbors and the guest.
My condo takes the ID card unless the guests are with me and sometimes they take it then unless they know they are a frequent visitor.
It is only a minor inconvenience and I think it is a good thing.
Most hotels and good condominiums have this practice.

You must file a TM-30 with Immigration within 24 hours. (There is a fine for not doing it if they find out). I've read they are checking.
You need their name, Nationality, Passport No., Date of Arrival, Type of Visa, Expiration date of Stay, Point of Entry and Arrival card (TM) number.
You can set up an account on line: extranet.immigration.go.th/fn24online/
You don't need copies of the documents but you probably should have one for yourself. They don't ask if you have a work permit.
This is done on the 2nd floor of immigration on Soi 5. The man was very nice.
I hope this helps.
From http://www.immigration.go.th/
According to section 38 of the 1979 immigration act, "House owners, heads of household, landlords or managers of hotels who accommodate foreign nationals on a temporary basis who stay in the kingdom legally, must notify the local immigration authorities within 24 hours from the time of arrival of the foreign national." If there is no immigration office in the province or locality of the respective house or hotel, the notification is made to the local police station. In Bangkok the notification is made to the Immigration Bureau. The notification of residence of foreign nationals is made by the manager of licensed hotels according to the hotel act, owners of guesthouses, mansions, apartments and rented houses using the form TM. 30.
The notification of residence of foreign nationals within 24 hours can be made in a number of ways to make the notification as convenient as possible:- In person at the respective office, or
- Through an authorised person at the respective office, or
- By registered mail, or
- Via internet.

I buy Doi Chang from Lazada. They bring it right to my door. I buy 2,505 for 20 250G bags.

Everyone who drinks coffee with me seems to like the coffee.
I don't drink instant and prefer the Doi Chang over Boncafe.

I took a TM30 to immigration in Pattaya/Jomtien.
They told me the next time I could do it on line and gave me the instructions (in Thai).
I set up an account with immigration and report on line. I make a copy of the screen where I reported.
So far I haven't had any problems.
I would recommend chatting with the person responsible at immigration and see what they say.

The website is: extranet.immigration.go.th/fn24online.
Instructions (in Thai) were given to me during a visit to Chonburi Immigration to register a guest.
I was able to register and use the system on line.

I have also not had problems using a US foreign currency account for extension at Jomtien Immigration.
