  1. Question? Who made the decision to sleep with this man and didn't use protection such as a condom or other means? The man or the woman.

This is an issue that has come up many times and people who have HIV seek confidentiality when they are discovered to have the disease and they refuse to tell the person where boy or girl that they are infected. Many foreigners do come here from abroad for the purpose of having sex with whomever they want to. On the online sex chat forums / boards. Western men will sometimes say. “I have HIV/AIDS and want young boy or girl for sex

When a foreign tourist arrives at the border. Is there a medical technician there to test the individual before stepping foot on Thailand soil? No.

Thailand thrives on the sex business here and if Thailand didn't have a sex business then many businesses would fail.

Now a man who has HIV/AIDS in my option should be made to pay for his victims and compensate them for their losses. Never will happen. The death penety in this country would never work.

  2. Thai have this natural instinct, “They can do it all and don’t need anybodies help”

The only way for education to change is for the people to demand the change and stop relying on MOE do it.

Most M.E.P. and I.E.P. programs in Thai schools are designed primary by older Thai teachers who feel their way is right and reject input from western teachers for help and designing of the curriculum. The students and parents complain at the Thai – Parents meetings. Thai staffs at the schools don’t listen to the parents.

I have seen a few good posts in Bangkok Post and Editorial from professional educators. I know some of them. When I print them off and give them to Thai School staff to look at and reflect on what the person has stated. Even when UNESCO comes up with suggestions. Thai often will throw that information into the nearest trashcan or delete it from their computer. Why?

  3. Not again......

Fuhrer furore! Thai student Nazi dress-up day causes outrage

Foreign parents and teachers appalled by the costumes

Thai teachers 'did not understand' the controversy

School asked to put the Holocaust on the curriculum

Was there not a similar incident a few years ago concerning students dressing up like Nazi’s? What ever happened?

Now, the school I work at start out each day, with the country’s flag raising ceremony. The song they use sounds almost identical to the Nazi Germany’s song.

Thai’s are taught to be Nationalist from the first day they enter school. – Thai Nazi’s.

Overall, Nazism (National Socialism) isn’t a bad idea. It works in some ways, but concerning the holocaust – not good.

  4. I seen some "Old Spice" body wash in Villa Market in Thonglor last weekend. Though, you can order it online from the U.S. and it costs like 500 thb, but there is also s/h charges.

  5. As we speak now. They are already here in Bangkok as we speak and growing quite fast in numbers. Mostly in areas that have high numbers of Muslims.

Thailand government has violated past agreements with southern Muslims. Declared open season on Muslims in Thailand. Thailand has failed them.

Soon, Thailand will be engulfed in a South East Asian version of what you see in the Middle East. It will not be just Southern Muslim Thai’s, but Malaysians, Indonesian as well.

Basically the story from Global Post is accurate.

    Good day

  6. Most of us would agree to the U.N's findings.

Older teachers who are not efficent should be put out to pasture / retired. Never will happen.

There needs to be a cooperation between Asian and Western educators on Education requirements for the different subject areas: Never will happen.

Asian and westerners need to work together in developing the curriculum and tools to better teach. Never will happen.

Thai citizens need to decide for themselves what road they want to take. Get communities involved in curriculum development and tell MOE to step aside.

Give an enima to the entire Education system. Starting from the top.

  7. Today, as I walked into my P 2/5 M.E.P. class, to start my lesson. I observed the homeroom teacher going around the class with a wedge hammer or to be exact a Geologist's hammer in her right hand. This type of tool is used by a geologist to break apart hard stone. This wedge hammer was in a raised position where it would be intimidating to any student she approached them. When she walked around the room with the hammer raised, the students would freeze up or stiffen up. This tool is not appropriate for this class under any circumstances. It is intended to be used by someone who works in Maintenance, construction, or a geologist. I considered this highly inappropriate to bring such an instrument into the class. See saw me looking at her, just staring at her waiting for any actions. She then placed it on a pile of papers in a basket on her desk. She might have used it to tap the desks of problem students, but with this object. It is hard, very hard and can cause quite a bit of damage to someone or something if missed. What the hell is a Geologist's hammer doing in an English class?

  8. It is so good to see fellow expats coming to fast food establishment in order to help this poor innocent working person with her children instead of having them beg on the streets.

Who does her job to the best she can do, in order to keep your tummy filled with fresh greasy French fries, double whoppers to help expats keep our stylish and sexy figures intact. So, he can go back to his apartment and look into the mirror and say to himself, “HOT dam_n, I’M SO SEXY.”

  9. Greetings Concerned Expat,

I often go into there after my tutoring in Silom area at night or after hitting one of the local pubs to wait for a taxi on Rama 4. Between 9:30 p.m. until way past midnight, most of the customers who come in there that late of the night until about 2 or 3 a.m. are from the local gay clubs in from Soi 2, which is next to Burger King. Most of the customers have had too much to drink, got into a fight with their body slam mate for the evening. The lady has to deal with expats, sex pats, Japanese tourists, middle eastern tourists, and etc.

The only draw back from that Burger king. They removed the bathroom and there is none available expect during the day at Tops.

The lady you are speaking about, the one with child. She is ok and does a good job. You have to remember, a woman who is with child may not feel that well that day due to her internal condition. If the place gets really busy, sometimes, one of the men in the back comes up to help assist her or one of the other ladies there.

Just give him some slack, she is a good woman. Speak slowly and clearly, point to what you want from the menu. Use specific English language phrases (Yes, no, here, take away).

    Good day.

  10. The school I work at in Prakanong is Thai government school and is supposed to be free, no charge to the parents.

I believed this line from the staff at the school and the director, until. The apartment manager was looking for a local school to enroll her son into. She inquired at my school. They wanted 75,000 up front for one semester.

I asked one of the directors at the school about this policy of charging parents for kids, when Thailand said "all" government schools are to be free. His comment was "So,"

The myth of free education - state schools are NOT free in Thailand. If you want go get your kid into a school with a good reputation, you have to pay. For example, I know of a student who is about to enter his final year at what is supposedly Chaing Mai's best secondary school. 24,000 is what his parents have to come up with. At primary level, I know of a six year old whose parents are being asked for 6,000 for this term. This is described as Money for the desk and chair he will sit at, insurance, tax [is the governement now taxing itself on its own services? ] etc. And this is not at the supposed best primary school in Chiang Mai. The cheaper option is of course the temple school, but they still want cash up front from parents at the beginning of the school year. Let's face it - if you work in Lotus, or as a hotel cleaner, or Nurse Aid in a hospital, your salary will be barely 6,000 a month. How can you pay for the school plus uniform, lunch books etc.? This educational apartheid certainly ensures that only the chilrden of the relatively wealthy get decent schooling. So, if education is not free, is it surprising education standards are low?

  11. It is actually quite simple to commit suicide in hold cell / jail in an uncivilized country. Most civilized countries, if a person is a suspect Suicide risk. Then everything is removed from the cell. Blankets, persons belts, etc. But, I am not a correction officer and fairly unclear about the correct procedures in this manner. This is Thailand .

I figured that someone wanted him dead and not be able to testify in a court of law.

  12. NHRC to support gay marriage rights

To focus on this issue is not a local issue, but an issue that has been gaining attention throughout the world for quite a number of years. I feel it’s a very positive move for Thailand to do. What harm could it come from supporting gay marriage rights.

I mean, how long has Thailand had Gays, Lesbians, Bisexuals and Transgender population?

Thailand is considered a country with a highly visible G/L/B/T community. Just go around any University and you will see people of the same sex holding hands, kissing, and acting like couples.

Same sex couples often have to resort to getting their marriage done in a Buddhist religious ceremony, whilst the government will not even go near this issue.

  13. Thai's are not taught or encouraged to think or be critical thinkers.

They are taught only to memorize, memorize and repeat and repeat.

    We don't need no education
