People that have it have no complaints. Fact is, there has never been a single post by a member that i have seen that says anything other than good things about TE and there programmes.Only those that are not on it,seem to think there's a problem with it. Then again, they seem to have a problem with Thailand as a whole. :coffee1:

So you are saying that the people who don't like Ford cars are not driving it.  :w00t:

And the people who like Ford cars are driving Ford cars.

    Wow, never would have guessed.

  2. Never had any problem getting the non-B ME visa in Penang in the last seven years.

I bring all documents stated in the post of ubonjoe and get half of them back because 'no need', but I bring them anyway.

The invitation letter can be written by any other shareholder/director of your company, and probably even by yourself if your are a director /shareholder of the company.

Really easy to do by yourself, no need for agents. Penang/ Georgetown is a very nice place.

ps. I've read somewhere on the forum that there is some construction going on so better check if they are open on the day you want to visit.

  3. Andaman Club is the best way to do it - but............the mini-bus drivers can be lethal.

There is a golf course at the Andaman Club, so if you play you can take your clubs and spend a night there.

It is quite a pretty drive (4 or so hours) from Phuket to Ranong. All in all a bit cheaper than going to say Singapore or KL.

Always drive myself. Much more enjoyable that way.

I leave Samui real early and back with the 6pm ferry.

  4. Out of interest are you an export only company or rep office? How does the labor department not want to see your SSF contributions for Thai staff? Or are they (for some unknown reason...) convinced they shouldn't ask?

I am doing this already for 6 years now.

No problems with the labor office and no problems in Penang for the yearly nonB visa.

And no staff on the payroll and no they are not added and removed for the visa and work permit.

And yes i do pay tax and yes Penang needs a valid work permit with at least 8 months validity.

edit: and I know several others who do this. A few for more than 15 years already.

I have a small IT services company.

Work permit is taking care of by my accountant.

Non-B Visa and all the papers needed for it I do myself.

I have no idea why they do not ask about the Thai staff, I only know they do not ask.

I also asked one of my friends who does the work permit papers by herself, if she add not existing staff but she says no.

Also hasn't been asked about it by the labor office.

edit: I vaguely do remember being told by the bureau that took care of the initial business registration that this route isn't available for all businesses but IT was one of them.

  6. The best option other than flying out and back is to avoid the Sadao Dannok crossing. Pedang Baser or any other crossing is much better.

I would also imagine anyone who has spent at least a couple of days (or more) in Malaysia and is not just doing a border run would also be less likely to be hassled even if coming back from Dan Nok.

If I were to go all the way down to Malaysia just to renew my visa (or permission to stay), the least I would do is to drive my car across the border and spend a few days checking out Malaysia, Penang perhaps or KL. There shouldn't be any excuse to not do so and seeing something different once in a while, even if I've been there before can't be a bad thing especially if it's only once every 90 days or so.

But of course no one does that here. Nearly every post on TV is about members going to a neighboring country and trying to spend the least possible amount of time away from Thailand, even if that makes their re-entry less than guaranteed.

You do realize that some of us have to work for a living and cannot just take a few days off to do some site seeing ?

  7. How many drowning deaths will it take before the 'authorities' step in a regulate this casual diving business.

I don't understand the term 'casual diving business' perhaps you could elaborate on this

Was the victim a Qualified Diver - the report does not specify this.

Was he diving with a dive company - as almost all Scuba Diving companies are affiliated to an organisation with strict safety rules

Even a complete beginner if taking a 'Discover Scuba Course' has an instructor with him at all times.

Or was this 'diving' just 'sea walking' with the weighted see through helmets and surface air supply.

The report has little information regarding the circumstances of this persons demise

Indeed, but that doesn't stop the LivinginKata to have his conclusion already.

  8. Also be aware that AIS shop is not in Tesco anymore but in the new Fisherman's village mall.

And in Central Festival. But I think you can also register at the Telewizz which is still in Tesco.

Oops, i might have made a mistake.

I think she said Central Festival and not the new fisherman's mall.

    Sorry..
