The quality of education has shown little improvement despite more resources and bigger budgets been allocated
To provide quality education you must have quality teachers. Today's teachers are the product of a deteriorated education system so it is a real dilemma. Until the government realizes they need to invest mega-bahts to hire top quality education professionals not someone who has gone through their system where no failures are permitted. Students must be made to realize that to get ahead in this world you have to earn that right - not be pushed into the next level - they must earn the right to advance!

Then why is it I got an O instead of OA because I got it from home country for retirement purpose too.
This is quite confusing.
It is totally confusing especially since every immigration office seems to interpret the rules differently!

new requirements only affect people seeking Non-Immigrant Visa O-A.
Since I entered Thailand on a non-B visa and have faithfully done my yearly extensions I presume I am exempt from this requirement.

foreign tourist visiting Thailand should be charged an insurance and life insurance fee.
This should easily offset the 8 baht cost per tourist (300 million divide by 38 million) leaving excess money for stuffing envelopes.
Is this in addition to the required medical insurance that tourists and retirees are required to have?

I am dismayed and aghast at the overt corruption and backroom finagling that is being accepted by the population as "that's how it is done here". Three months to negotiate a "deal" to get the same government that the general public voted to be rid of!

In reality there is no retirement visa. I suspect you have an extension of stay based upon retirement issued by immigration that is not a visa of any kind.
A OA is a special visa issued by embassies and consulate for being 50 or over.
My original visa issued before I left my home country was a non immigrant category B after three months it was revised to retirement.

My visa only states it is a retirement visa - no mention of non-immigrant (O-A). There is a scribble on one stamp that says non-rs

100 hours of community service (picking up garbage from parks, streets and beaches). 1000 baht fine and 3 weeks in the attitude adjustment camp for the kid and the parents!

Materialistic not maternalistic. Kids are often a nuisance to their mothers as indicated by the number of them foisted off on their grandparents or other relatives to 'raise'.
