World Bank approves $560 million loan for Myanmar's power plan
YANGON (REUTERS) - The World Bank has approved US$400 million (S$560 million) in interest-free credit to support Myanmar's moves to boost electricity access across one of Asia's poorest and least-connected countries. The loan provided by the bank's International Development Association (IDA) covers financing and technical assistance for a National Electrification Plan, which seeks to power every home by 2030.Myanmar's decades of isolation and under investment under military rule has left its predominantly rural population largely cut off from its overstretched power grid.An anticipated boom in industry, urbanisation and sustained population growth has made power a major challenge for a country where only 70 per cent of its more than 50 million people have regular access to electricity.Too soon? Or not soon enough...published 3 hours ago....Keep us posted phazey -

Lets dispense with the personal attacks, baiting and bickering thanks.
And for those joining this topic late - suggest you don't post before going and reading the whole thread again, as several newcomers/latecomers are making posts which clearly show they jumped in on the last page.

Moving to Farang Pub, this type of topic should not be opened in General
General topicsA forum for general interest & discussion topics related to Thailand only and not covered by other sub forums.
The General Forum is not a place for chit chat, banter and daily life observations. Those sort of topics should be placed in the Farang Pub sub forum. -
Thavorn, right in the middle of Phuket Town, goes for around 500 baht a night. Old hotel, large rooms.
Montri Guest House (Montri something) has rooms around that price range.
Patra Mansion around 600 baht a night and even has a swimming pool.
Check out Agoda and do a price filter/range from lowest.
Plenty of options

While we're not going to comment on the particular situation the OP experienced or the reasons for him having issues with immigration this morning - we are aware that he was at Suvanabhumi.
In an attempt to stop some of the troll accusations and bickering - it should be known that we do have some advice about the OP's story occurring today.

This mod knows the above poster well and knows where he works, and would happily verify his credentials if it were practical.
As for the crack about spelling, sheesh. I know my way around antivirus software, and I'm buggered if I can remember what the plural is.

Have flown them a few times from HKT-DMK, I grabbed a few of those Groupon vouchers the first time just to try them out, and then they had a 600 baht promo deal on their own website a few months ago before they grounded themselves.
One flight was a blast. Myself and 9 other pax in total for a 2200-odd late evening flight up to DMK.
On board was the charter crew deadheading after arriving from China earlier that evening with a full flight of package tourists.
They were spread out on the aircraft, mainly the front and rear.
Myself and the other 9 pax were in the middle in 2-3 rows.
The power failed after we boarded, and while they waited for a ground unit to be brought to start us up, we were in a steaming hot cabin for 20 minutes or so. Was like a sauna. Eventually we got started up and underway.
I got chatting with the flight attendants down in the rear galley during the flight. I worked out that not a single one of these beautiful young women were older than the aircraft (an early 737 classic, around 25 years old) Had a great laugh when I pointed this out.
Anyway CLB, thanks for the link, I haven't been on PPRuNe for a while so good to have a catch up.

So does this mean I can work as a digital nomad from Myanmar ?
Short, non time wasting answer - no.
Do some research on this. There will be a lengthy application process and a lot of criteria to satisfy before they will consider you for PR.
Surely you don't expect to simply get off the plane with your laptop one day, smile nicely, and stay for 5 years?

How can you call a 5 year visa for permanent residency? I do not know if I should laugh or cry.
Can't see an issue with this unless you're just being really pedantic.
Most countries that offer a PR system have a limit on validity subject to meeting renewal requirements etc.
Nothing wrong with this announcement...
