  1. I remember someone was posting about the unaccompanied baggage option before, apparently there's a window/office at the 4th floor at Suvarnabhumi at the Intl. departure area, close to gate 8. I have no idea if that's been closed, or if that's completely outdated, it would be really great to read if someone knows more updated info on this. Otherwise, yes Seven Seas seems to be ok priced for international shipping, thanks for posting!

  2. Hi all,

I'm wondering if someone of you knows where to find a tailor around Siam? I don't mean one of the Indians making suits, I'm talking about one of the Thai ladies sitting usually in Thai-style shopping malls/markets with a little booth and sewing away... - this kind of. Simply to make a couple of changes to existing clothing.

I know one good place around Chongnogsi but its way too far away to go during my lunch break... I'm around Siam.

    Thanks a lot! :)

  3. Mario, thanks for your reply.

I am still wondering - it wouldnt work to attain a multiple entry permit and then be able to come back in with 90days? Since the whole point about it was that my contract is for 6 months, and that's what the letter from my company stated clearly, so why should I not be able to extend this?

There should be a way to change the single entry into a multiple entry (at Chaengwattana) and then not to lose my Non-Immigrant visa when I come back in.

  4. Hi all, I'm guessing this is not the first time this has been asked but I haven't found an exact same scenario (or more or less) here yet so I'll ask again.

    Facts are

I'm on a German passport, working as Consultant in Bkk and have been given on my last trip home when re-applying for a new visa a letter by my company stating my next contract duration of work etc. - they gave me an ED visa, single entry.

I entered June 29th, hence acc. to my arrival stamp by Sept. 29th I either have to report to Chaengwattana (and pay?) , and/or leave the country for a visa run ?

I'm thinking this back and forth but right now, to me it seems as I could do the following:

As long as I leave the country before the 29th Sept. I dont have to go to a Thai embassy to apply for a new Non-Imm. Visa, I can just leave and come back in and get another 90days. This will work if I first go to Chaengwattana and get a 3,800THB multiple entry stamp right?

Does this work? Is this the way to do it? I'm really confused, especially now that I'm reading that usually ED visas are given only with support by your university/institution that you actually study in Thailand. This might confuse them if they see my actual letter where it states 'consultant' .

I'd really like the above version to work because I want to go travelling a bit... smile.png Thank you!

  5. Nationality German, overstay about 6months, left from Suvarnabhumi airport on June 7th.

    Reaction of the immigraiton authoritiies:

You can already see (at least at the immigration part where I was queuing) the desk with the sign "Overstay fine" behind the checkpoints.

I walked up, smiled my most innocent smile at the guy at the checkpoint, he looked through the passport, couldnt find the visa and just stated "overstay right?", then told the guy standing behind him and I walked with him to the desk, they were talking among themselves how long the overstay was, and asked briefly why. I just said I forgot and that it was during the floods. They didnt seem to care at all what answer you're giving.

The elderly woman and the guy at the desk just let me fill out the Receipt (took a while cause the machine wasnt working - i considered suggesting taking my 20,000 and buying a new one...), the woman smiled all the time and both were really friendly and not at all accusing or threatening or anything.

He was trying to tell me in Thai I should have reported after I found out, but it was more like a tipp (for the next time ).

Summary:: I was planning in quite a buffer just in case for this issue, but it was done in approx. 10min, I was siting at the desk I'd say about 5min.

Totally nothing to worry about, as long as you have the money in hand. I was trying by being super nice and innocent looking to 'maybe' try talking my way out but doesnt work at all.

Don't worry, it's absolutely routine for them, they do not seem to care at all. Well at least that's how it was for me. Might help to dress up smartly tho, and be friendly and smiley.

    Good luck!

  6. Hi there, this might be obvious but Ive never had to think of it until now so Im not sure...

I´m moving into a new room tmrw which is fine, expect that I really hate the furniture in it (large double-sized bed, too big cupboard taking away all the space etc...).

So I was wondering - think I could get the big bed removed (is there some service thats doing that in Bkk?), buy a smaller one (IKEA opens soon as far as I read?!), and also throw out the cupboard and buy a desk instead.

Dont laugh - Im not sure myself this would be possible - what you think? :)

  7. Hi there,

Im moving to Bkk in late September and would prefer to have a room in a shared apt. ,rather than living by myself. Ive just finished university (MA), and Ive always lived in shared apartments with friends, so Im used to company rather than being "alone", and Id like to continue doing that.

Im 26, f, originally from Germany, but living in Vienna, Austria.

Im not totally "new" to Bkk cause Ive been studying at MUIC before, as well as done various internships/travel etc. in Thailand/Bkk before.

Would be great if someone could reply, thanks a lot! :)

  8. Hi there,

I´m moving to Bkk beginning of October and was wondering if it would be possible to find a roommate? I´ve been studying (MUIC) and working in Bkk/Thailand before over the last couple of years so I do know my way around/Bkk life etc. (or at least Im not completely "new" to the city).

I´ll be doing an internship for 6 months and then looking for a job in the nonprofit sector so I´m planning to stay in Bkk rather long-term.

I´ve seen some of my friends living in Bkk share an apartment before but I havent been able to find any website where this is done officially - I reckon there is none?

Location-wise Im not too picky, just somewhere not too far from MRT/BTS would be great. I´m female, 26, from Austria but I dont mind gender/age, as long as we connect: :)

    Waiting for some responses, cheers!
