    Thanks for all your inputs.

    Most non thai I've met who have lived here for many years can not speak Thai, I mean those older than 55.

    Maybe the younger people who work here have learned Thai.

    I as the most of the others can say some phrases, but it is not enough to converse with.

    Maybe I'll take a course some day.


    Anyway, thanks again, I'll talk to my girlfriend about this and we'll see what happens.

    I'm still just the Falang

    How do I interpret that my girlfriend and her family mentions me as the falang when they're talking about me?

    We have been living together for 5 years now and we live just a few blocks away from the rest of the family.

    It's difficult to get close with them because they do not speak English and I not Thai.

    At least they should have learned my name by now even though we do not directly talk to each other?


    Think it's a bit disrespectful, it would be like if I were to mention my girlfriend as the asian when I talk about her with my friends and family.

    What do you think about this?

    My girlfriend is saying that they can't learn my name.

    And you only got a single entry tourist visa. In Vientiane you can get 2 entry.

    Also Penang has been reported many times as not giving more than couple of back to back visas or even if you got the 30 day extension from immigration.

    A girl sits at a table outside BigC Pattaya and sells 3 months visas for 12,000 baht. Just submit the passport and get it back in the evening. I do not know if it is legal, but she says it's ok. Is there anyone who has bought a visa like this and can confirm that it works?
