I'm in and out of Nong Khai and everything Non-Thai goes with a TM6.
They are available only on a one-by-one basis, handed out individually. Asked about the E-channel which got answered by "you no Thai people". So just deal with it and keep on filling this form. Never also understand, why the passport and the TM17 (white booklet) need both to be stamped, oh well .........If you are PR you can apply for the e-channel
-
There was a topic about autochannel a few weeks back you can search it but basically you go to the immigration desk just after entry / exit gates at BKK airport
-
If you apply for and use the auto channel then you don’t need it, using normal manned passport control then they still want the TM6 but the process is abit different: when leaving Thailand you complete only the departure section which they stamp and leave in your passport, when arriving you complete the arrival part
-
Once you have been a non immigrant visa for more than 3years you can go to the PR desk at CW immigration and ask them about it, they will go through a few questions with you and you will get an idea the likelihood of your application being successful
-
If you are a PR and want to travel out of country you need and do get a re-entry permit and you might as well go for multiple entry very quick, cheap and easy to do at immigration.
-
After being a PR for over a year now and living in Thailand for last 14yrs I would say the benefit is piece of mind that you know you can stay and come and go in the country for the future regardless what happens with immigration regulations, your visa and work status, life etc. That might sound like a minor thing but if you have invested here financially and personally then I am sure you will appreciate the PR and of course is a route to citizenship if you want to do that later. It is not a straight forward process that is for sure, but if you are ready for it then you will know that already!
-
If you are PR and use the auto channel you don’t have any passport stamp, I do still use the fast track at departure as faster overall and so only have a lot of exit stamps now in my passport..

Forget Fishermans, Nong View just alittle further down the road to HaadRin is much much better

Btw: this also in my mind proves my point about how this technology is a benefit to all. Case closed and now back to lurk..
-
Hahahaha... Well this is amazing, first of all you are right I will now go back to lurk for the next few years until something comes along that I think might be amusing or interesting. All your comments on filters and suitability of topics etc well I leave it to TV to decide as I can't be arsed to look into your posts and start a stupid war of crap, get a life.
As for zukarotu, well I spent the rest of the night debating if this was indeed a scam or not with my chums, my conclusion was that it was and was a good one. If you are right and this is a very amazing coincidence then I have to commend you for helping him. It would be a shame I guess if we are all so cynical that we don't help people in need. Good on you, a free beer is available.

Janderton, i dont take any offence.. but I don't get your point. This is a medium for posting or asking for current information to the interest or benefit of anyone who reads it- If you are not interested in the title then don't waste your time reading. If everyone affected by a thai gem/gold etc scam wrote a quick summary and put it online with other such reports then I think it might be of considerable benefit. Take a look at Ron's from 2bangkok.com excellent archive on the gem shops.

Where do I convey that this scam is a rarity? It happens everyday. I wrote it only in hope the info might be useful, even if it stops one person losing money to that cretin it was worth it.

Last night after work, a hit on the driving range and a quick change I went back into Silom for drinks with some of my work buddies.. Just along convent outside Starbucks a youngish looking farang stopped me asking for the tourist police, I asked him what happened and the pretty classic story comes out that he has had his bag stolen has reported this to the police to no avail as he now has missed his flight and needs 500eur to rebook to a later one. Ive been running my own company here 8yrs and am well travelled around Asia, Europe and Africa and so naturally suspicious of strangers and such crap like this.
I am writing this post as a warning as this guy was quite believable, had a perfect fake stress and scared demeanour and generally came over as someone in real need of help. Of course I did not hand over any cash but I offered him to use my phone and was going to let him get online using a computer at my office which was just 20m away. The fact that I was obviously in control of this situation and my German and Thai staff were also onroute to the office made him lose his cool and run off.
He said he was from Germany and if true then must be Cologne area as sounds more French/Belgium, is about 180cm tall, light coloured shoulder length hair in a ponytail, dressed in cheap looking shorts, sneakers and tshirt and looks prob younger than he is. If you meet this little <deleted> then be careful as he is very plausible and must be a very experienced blagger. Get him to the boys in brown or slap him silly until he decides to f&£k off back to Europe..

If the foreign purchaser has Permanent Residence or has a Thai baht in his non-resident bank account in Thailand, they can purchase the condominium in Thai Baht (no need to use the “Foreign Exchange Transaction Form”)."....
Thaigene, Is this really just poorly worded????? Looks clear to me, 'No need to use Foreign Exchange Transaction Form'.. If you wait a few months i will tell you for sure as i will try it and see. But i am kind of surprised that no-one here has done this.
-
the 'first rule' could be applied to anything.. eg: dont buy more ferrets to smuggle to California than you could afford to lose. So i am not sure of its value other than to ward off people who maybe should not own ferrets in the first place- like Richard Gere. Investment is risky, walking down the street is risky, stuffing ferrets in your nether regions is prob risky but that does not mean you should not choose to do it if you get a kick out of it.. just dont blame anyone else if it all goes horribly wrong and you end up in a bloody mess of ferret fur and clingfilm.. I voted Yes BTW.

.."In addition, a foreigner who has Thai baht in his non-resident bank account or foreign currency bank account in Thailand may withdraw his money from such account for the payment of the condominium unit. In this case, a withdrawal slip and certificate issued by the bank would be required for the transfer of the condominium unit. If the foreign purchaser has Permanent Residence or has a Thai baht in his non-resident bank account in Thailand, they can purchase the condominium in Thai Baht (no need to use the “Foreign Exchange Transaction Form”)."
The above comes from a CBRE document "foreign ownership of condominium". (http://www.cbre.co.th/cbrecontent/bangkok/transaction_services/residential_sales.htm#) However reading on TV and other sources it seems that foreigners have moved large amounts of money out of Thailand and then back in just to obtain a 'foreign exchange transaction form' for a condo purchase, any experience of doing this simply from a Thai bank account?
Thanks,

Yes I live in BKK and I know some good things for them to do in the immediate area, however usually I am stuck in the office or working outside of Thailand and I have never had kids to come and stay before. What I am looking for are specific recommendations for activities, destinations and events outside of Bangkok that would be good for my nephews over Christmas and NY. I know the kids will like going to a beach and kicking a footy about but what about things that are unique to Thailand? Elephant riding is a good one and they will enjoy that alot. For more info, the older one loves fishing- any suggestions for some good spots or reputable fishing boat operations? As for the younger one he has started to learn how to box back in the UK and I am sure would find some Muay Thai interesting- are there any suitable introductory courses for kids? (10-14yrs)
Thanks for your help,
-
My Sister and her young boys (ages 12-14) are arriving for Christmas and NY for a stay of approx 3 weeks for perhaps their only chance to see the LOS. My question is simple: where do i take/send them? I am looking for the once-in-a-life-time absolute must do's in Thailand. I want your recommendations on the best of the best of places to visit and things to do for both kids and big kids alike..
Thanks in anticipation,
DM

Hmm.. Im confused either I have spent every Monday for a year with my eyes closed (quite possible) or I have never noticed that this policy has been in existance. I usually eat everyday at food stalls and so would have expected to have picked this up.. What a farce, so I am supposed to eat at home on Mondays now? Really? I only own 4 drinking glasses and a cereal bowl.. god damm it. Who thinks it makes BKK a cleaner city!?
-
Anyone know why food stalls and markets are not allowed to open in Bkk on Mondays? - Someone told me that a local ruling has stopped them due to traffic jams???!!! Is that true? surely not... But what the hells going on? Is this for lent?

Currently looking at the options for a (static) public IP available in Thailand. Anyone know about the lease line providers etc? The quotes I have sofar for a 256k connection are +20k which sounds a little steep. Thanks in advance for your thoughts....

As an aside, I was told by the Liverpool office that Hull are acting out of accordance with Thai immigration regulation by providing type B visas without valid WP's and that I used them at my own risk.. Scousers!

Thailand is better placed that most in SE Asia in terms of Vaccine capability, several good firms researching and manufacturing here with good standards and experienced staff. Why not start early and give it a shot? That is a prudent approach if you have the infrastructure, at least create the chance of an option than only just waiting to see if other nations develop it, who will then own the IP that you have to rely on..
