No problem with leaving the country without doing one since they do not look for them at departure immigration.

But if you local offices notices you did not do the report before leaving they could fine you 2000 baht for not doing it when doing your first report after returning to the country.

Thanks Joe. But isn't when you depart somewhat technically like a report to immigration, even though it's at the airport? Last year, I managed to leave the country before the 90 days every time, so didn't actually do a report to the local immigration once. For the last 4-5 years, the most I've reported in a 12 month period has been once and never had any issues when it comes to renewing my extension each year

I'm leaving the country (with re-entry permit), 6 days after I'm due to report. Can anyone tell me if I'd have any issues at this time, if I didn't report beforehand? As I'd be within the 7 day window. Would be flying from Samui to Singapore.

Hi Poor Sucker, no, got this already from the Amphur in Nathon. It's listed as point 2 on the Samui Immigration List. Full Sentaence is:

"2. Acknowledgement of terms and conditions for permit of temporary stay in the kingdom on Thailand (STM.2)"

No doubt I will find out this afternoon what it is, if I don't have it.

Has anyone transferred their current extension stamp from one passport into a new one? They charged me THB500 for this. I questioned the young lass, since when does that apply, is this a Koh Samui only fee, to which I was just glared at. Ask for a receipt, "not have'. Anyone else dealt with this recently?

I need to submit my extension again soon, worth bringing it up with the lady who deals mostly with the longer extensions under marriage?

Also, anyone know what the STM. 2 Form is?

As above, unless you have Thai Drivers license either car or motorbike, the airline won't accept your passport if its been cancelled (with the front & back pages cut). Hence why in the end, I went with the option to collect it in Bangkok again, as I live in Koh Samui. They also won't send it to you, unless your old one has been cancelled.

Phil, you're entire scenario matched mine pretty much exactly and I applied twice for mine and was granted both times no problems. I'm not sure if there is a DM option on this site, but if you can, I'd be happy to run over it with you.

Just to add my 5 pence worth, if you did decide to drive yourself from Samui (not sure of the public transport options from Samui/Don Sak) depending on what time of the day you are travelling, it's actually quicker to go to/from Nakhon Si Thammarat airport. It's located on the Northern side of the city (closest to Don Sak) and it's a free drive from there to Don Sak, where as sometimes, especially in the afternoons, 4-6pm roughly, the traffic around Surat Thani can be really bad, so instead of the 1hr 15mins which it should be, it can be closer to 2 hours.

Both Air Asia & Nok Air fly to NST, as often as they do to Surat Thani.

Just another option to think of, if you do want to cut out public transport fear from Don Sak to Surat Thani & end up driving yourself.

With regards to which consulate to apply for it though, I know it should be done at the consulate where we plan to spend most of our time or country where we will first go, but if you have any advice on which consulate is easiest to apply with, then we can plan some short trips around this. Our most likely ports of call will be France, Spain, Portugal, Holland, perhaps Germany.

Also, if granted and approved, how many days/months does she have to use it within?

Was hoping to get some advice on applying for the Schengen visa for my Thai GF, who will be holding a UK 6 month visitor visa.

-Does she need to be apply for the Schengen visa in Thailand, before she returns to the UK?

-If she needs to apply for it in Thailand, which is generally the best consulate to do this at?

-Is it possible for her to apply for a Schengen visa whilst in the UK? (Last year we tried to go to Republic of Ireland & were told by the Irish consulate in London, that she couldn't apply for the visa in London & that she needed to do this in Thailand)

I'm hoping some of you could help in providing any advice you can and if there's anyone who's been in the exact same situation, then I'd appreciate your help.

I have a steady Thai girlfriend now, who I've been seeing for about 18 months. In that time, I have visited Samui 4 separate times, for about a total of 7-8 months. I currently live in London and have done so for the past 5 years, but I'm on an Australian passport, with a Ancestry visa, which essentially gives me total freedom to work within the UK. I still have another 4 years left on my current visa.

My questions are, how difficult would it be for me to take my girlfriend back to the UK on a visitor visa for perhaps say 3 months? I've heard other British nationals, say that it's certainly not an easy process? I have proof of relationship through means such as phone records, photos, money transfers etc

Any advice about the best way to pursue this would be greatly appreciated?
