  1. A lot of people have obviously had problems with these miscreants so if these people can actually help that's good news indeed. Does anyone know if they can be reached late at night when the 'action' usually happens? Most people who have actually paid have been intimated by the guys and also ignorant of Thai law regarding proper searches. Everyone says "don't pay" but it doesn't sound that easy in the heat of the moment.

  2. SPORTS UPDATE!

Got as far as far as Ayuthaya today. Lampang last night. LONG DRIVE!!! Road is miserable for the last 2 hours because of construction and no highway lights.

Everything looked terrible along the trip. Same as CM. Tak looked the worst for some reason. Heard from Thai friend the Nan is horrible. Heading for Jomtien tomorrow hoping the coastal breeze is better. Feel like I'm escaping!

Can't stand Pattaya but maybe Jomtien is tollerable for a 49 year old smoker who just wants cleaner air than CM. Hope it rains soon up North because I like it there. I would hate to not live there but it's pretty bad there. Never thought I would have to do this emerency trip. Thanks for your replies.

Cheers abd Happy St. Patricks Day to all!

  3. Going to Jomtien for the first time tomorrow (saturday 17/03/07). Any recommendations for something clean, safe, nice on beach for under 1000/baht a day? Is security for car I'm driving a concern? Anyone know how the Sea Breeze Hotel is?

    Thanks!

  4. I'm leaving CM and heading south or southeast to get away from the lovely pollution here. I'm looking for any advice on good places to head (if any!). I was thinking of Tak first and then heading east from there. I know Chiang Rai is also misterable as is Nan. I'd appreciate any suggestions.

    Cheers!

  5. In Chiang Mai there is an New York style slice place called Paradise Pizza. They moved last year to 7/2 Ratchawitchi Road across from the UN Irish Pub. Pretty ###### good offering for Thailand! Thick crust...homemade sauce....excellent cheese...not like the usual Italian restaurant thin crust offerings. They are all okay in their own way but this is like NYC. I had their lasagna and fettucini carbanora which were both great
