  1. Let him know that you are going to sell your half (possibly to someone who wants to live there). Once you get an offer you would accept, give him the option to match the price and buy you out. If he doesn't sell it to the highest bidder. If you need the money now and you have been getting decent rental returns, certainly you'd consider anything that got you slightly better than your buy price. If you are in a pinch and the condo is attractive, you can always PM me and we can talk further.

  2. That's a tough one! I was actually just trying to figure out the same information as well. Surely there must be a form to use to either extend the WP, or get a pre-approval for the WP extension (1 year?), that one can apply for and obtain at the ministry of labor?

Another question would be.... Is the WP cancelled because the WP holder is now on a 30 day visa exemption becuase of his mistake of not getting a re-entry permit??

    Anybody???

  3. I'm not sure if the USB modem would have worked with the mac, but when you sign up for the Wifi service (250B/month) you get an all-in-one wifirouter/modem. THis is how I set it up with my com and it works both with the cable and wirelessly.

I'm not sure about the security, but I think that anyone else would have to have the WEP key in order to get on my waves. If this isn't true, someone let me know how to check and then how to fix the problem.

  4. Just an update....Got the wifi hooked up to my mac with True with no problems. Spent 10 minutes on the phone with their customer service and she walked me through how to set up the router (online). After this was done, I have been surfing wirelessly with no problems whatsoever.

  5. I have just signed up for true 512 ADSL and will be using a mac Ibook. All the true literature says that it does not work with mac. I suspect this is just for customer service reasons, rather than it really not working with the mac. Also, I thought (and gather from some posts) that it may be a problem with the modem that they provide. So, I decided to go with the wifi package that they offer, which is an extra 250B/month but gives you unlimited access to true wifi hotspots as well as an all in one modem/wifi-router. Snce my ibook has airport built in, I thought that this would alleviate the compatability problems with true/mac? Can anyone tell me if this is true? If not, what do I need to do to get this set up in order to work at home?

  6. I was just coming on to post the same exact thing. It'd be great to find a place to play some pick-up, preferably on a nice indoor court. I've played at Chula, and while its OK, I'm still wondering if there is something better around. The best I know of is Sports City in Prachachuan, which is WAY OFF of most farang's Bangkok maps. Any more ideas anyone???

  7. So, let me get this straight. It seems like the modems work with mac, but true is really saying that they don't in case there is technical problems. They don't have the knowledge to assist with the Mac's, but the modems work. Is this the case? Or do I have to buy a specific modem?

  8. I was just trying to sign up for true adsl serive at my home and was just about to get registered when the girl at th desk says that it is not compatible with Mac (in my case 12" Ibook G4). I have never heard this before and decided to look through the application and sure enough, it says you cannot use it with Mac. Does anyone know why this is and how can I get around it? IS it simply because the modem they give me is not compatible and I need to get different modem? I'd like to get hooked up (with adsl and IPTV). Any ideas?

  9. I can second the recommendation for Le Lys. I really liked the old location, but the new one on Narathiwas is great as well. Nice setting, great food, large menu, and friendly owners and staff. Give it a try and you won't be dissapointed.

If you are looking for something on the river, Kin Lom Chom Saphan which has also already been mentioned is hard to beat. Great food, beautiful view of the rama 8 bridge and the river, and nice music from the live band.

There is also another place in Samsen just up the river from Kin Lom, but I forget the name. IT is something to do with "love" or heart. I forget, but you'll know if you stumble upon it. Nice little place too.

On the other side of the river is Patravadi restaurant, which I assume is connected with Patravadi theatre. Nice and modern with good food. I think they have live performances at night time, though I'm not sure if it is music or theatrical.

  10. I'd like to know the same thing. Two of my Ben Sherman shirts were "made in Thailand" so I would assume they'd be around somewhere. I have been here for the last two years, and not seen one yet, though. I haven't checked at Siam Paragon, but I would bet that if they were there, they'd be nearly double what I pay for one in the US.

  11. Went to Coyote last weekend. We triex to get in on Saturday night with 7 people, but were told it was at least an hour wait. So we went to Patsy's fiest, had a good time, but with VERY average food. We went back to Coyote on Sunday for lunch as our thirst for mexican wasn't quite quenched. I would have to say it is the best in Bangkok, although a little expensive. They seem to make their own guacamole and tortillas, so I'll happily pay extra for the real thing. Good margaritas, too! I Will definately go back.

  12. I'm sure this has been done before...but after doing a few searches, I didn't come up with much. I'd like to know of any of your favorite Sunday brunches around town and also any good lunch buffets. I'll start it off:

My favorite Sunday Brunch: Collonade at Sukhothai (1600++)

expensive, but a great place to go with family or special friends. All types of foods and something for everyone

My favorite Lunch Buffet: Grand Mercure Fortune Hotel (350++)

Close to my office and have all kinds of good deli meats and cheeses. Entrees aren't that great, but the salads and deserts make up for it.

  13. Does anyone know of a good golf privilege card or program that gives discounts on golf, mostly around Bangkok? I saw the Asian Golfing Network (AGN) membership, it gives free golf, but there are only 6 courses in Thailand so for 15K it only makes sense if you go to Malaysia or other areas in SEA often. What about the Thaigolfer card? It is less than 1,000 Baht, but isn't clear as to the benefits. Any one have any idea? I would really like to get a card that gives discounts for play on many BKK courses and maybe at driving ranges around town as well. Thanks for any recommendations or advice.

  14. I am hoping to combine a trip from BKK to Chiang Rai for a few days and then on to Luang Prabang for a few more days. I think we will have about a week to make the trip, possible a few days more if needed. What I want to do is fly from BKK to Chiang Rai, spend a few days around the area, and then move on to Luang Prabang. What is the best way to get from Chiang Rai to LP? Also, I wouldn't mind going from BKK-LP-Chiang Rai-BKK either, if that would make it easier. At first I wanted to use the Bangkok Airways discovery pass, but there are no flights from Chiang Mai or Chiang Rai to LP. If anyone could give me some ideas as to how to make this happen, without to much travelling time (flights preferred as time is limited), I would appreciate the input. Also, does 7 days seem like enough time for this trip? SO, the questions are:

    1. Does it make a difference if I fly to LP from BKK directly and go to Chiang Rai afterwards...or is it basically the same either way?

    2. If Ifly to Chiang Rai...is there any flights from there to LP or is it easy to get to Vientienne and fly from there? Maybe Chiang Mai?

    3. Any good recommendations on unique, interesting, boutiquey places to stay in the mentioned areas?

    4. CAn I rent a car or Jeep in LP and/or Chiang Rai?

    5. The mountain bike tours...are they OK for everyone? It seems like fun, but I don't want to work to hard on my much needed time off.

    Thanks for any help...Sundevil

  15. Anyone have any recommendations on PDA phones for use in Thailand? I would like to be able to get on the internet (gprs or WAP I think). I would also like the ability to sync my phone with my pc to upload/download outlook contacts and info. ANy info, recommendations, prices, or tips are much appreciated.
