Not a particularly insightful reply. Perhaps you could explain then why so many expats who live in Thailand get married where the streets are lined with bargirls. Using your logic no one should ever get married in Thailand.

I think this couple were heading for disaster from the start , having made a mistake myself by marrying my first Thai wife , things are different 2 nd time arround ,1, no marriage in England ,(absolute disaster ) better in Thailand , but not me this time , 2, everything in my name ( company ) or directly . 3, if she wants to go ---- buy buy , with a little money for traveling .

F1 fanatic - good luck with all your cuttings , i have just rooted some bizzy lizzies in water , only takes about 6 days to get the roots growing , i bought a large one from the plant market ,Pattaya , and took a dozen from that , you are right though , some plants here are very difficult to find , it has taken me 6 months to find a bottle-brush plant ( callistemon ) so i took some of the lower branches as cuttings , don't know if i will be lucky on this one or not , i have just grown my first Plumeria from seed too, only one took from 12 seeds but i think the soil was too wet , i'll try again ( plenty of seeds about on the trees .) trying to source a bird of paradise plant , strelitzia , lots of Heliconias here of many types but not the Strelitzia , i just keep trying , accepting my successes with my failiures , great fun .

Apparently most lizards do have a very mild venom , it has recently been discovered , very mild but it might stop a wound healing up for a few days if you get bitten .

Holland is another country that has had flooding problems for centuries , a large area also lies at about sea level , i think some of it lies below sea level .

Thailand could have a team of Hydro - engineers from Holland come over and help them design and build , a systems of reservoir's and interconnecting channels etc, etc etc , not being a hydro - engineer i can't help with the design , but it seems to me they also need a large relief canal , starting just to the north of Ayutthaya and going as direct as possible to empty in the bay of Thailand .

1, most important put the chief engineer in complete control of the building , tell all financial advisers to take a run and jump.

2. have one control , operations centre , stationed by the start of the canal which will be able to monitor all the various waters of Thailands rivers and canals ,and control and adjust where needed.

If such a plan where ever to materialise i would eat my socks , realisticly , i know they will carry on with their mud and wood till the next flood comes .

by the way i am not from Holland , just thought that they probably have the best engineers and experience for the job .

As much as I dissaprove of the present government I don't think there is a great deal they could have done to stop this flood, at best they may have been able to minimise it slightly. This is a once in 50 year maybe even a 100 year flood.

Australia had the same problems in December 2010 and January 2011, 50% of Queensland was flooded. Sure you can have plans in place and infrastructure to alleviate the flooding but you can't stop the sheer volume of water.

Apparently --- i stand corrected --new research has recently been done on the lizard family , and nearly all types of lizards carry a venom in oral glands , which is very closely compared to snake venom , but in nearly all cases much milder and much less potent , the only 2 lizards that can hurt you badly are -- Gila monster , and the bearded dragon , as far as i am aware , this is a new one for me , and i think for a lot of people who keep reptiles as pets , this includes the Monitor lizard , ---------------------- know and understand your adversary

The correct name is Komodo dragon , and as stated they do not live in Thailand , they live on the Island of Komodo , and a few small islands near , Monitor lizards is what your talking about , and i do not think they have evil saliva like the Komodo dragon , but i am not 100% sure of that .

One good way of getting rid of the centipedes if they invade your house , we used to have a few come in the house when we lived in Navan Nakorn North Bangkok ,is a good size rubber hammer , one swift hit on the head ,usually gets them ,and you don't smash your ceramic floor to pieces , i always keep mine on the shelf incase i need it quickly , it's handy for cockroaches too , but don't hit then too hard they explode .

I think you really need to think a lot about what you did before you go out on the road again , very stupid to run a vehicle of the road , almost every Thai family knows the local police you could have given yourself a hell of a lot of trouble .

I was half involved in a case of road rage only a couple of days ago , my wife was driving , and i consider her to be a very good driver , she did a u turn on the main Sukhumvit road in Pattaya near Macro , ( food supermarket ) , i was looking left with her and it was clear for at least 400 yards , which is is a pretty good distance , a lot more than most Thais usually give , she accessed the fast lane indicating to move over , but even though she kept on looking no body would let her across ,eventually she slowed not being able to get across the trafic , the next we knew some total moron shot up behind us blasting his horn , cut us up jumped out of is car , and started shouting his head of at my wife , it happened very quick , if he had shown any phsisical agression towards her ,i would have been out of the car and done what i had to do , but 20 seconds of yelling his stupid head of , was all that happened , ( thank goodness ) i believe he was English , though not completely sure , i said lets phone the police and give them his number incase he hurts someone next time , she said --- if he had laid one finger on me , i know a high rating police man very well , if i phone him this stupid man will be dealt with , or words to that meaning , so after that commment i just thought - nothing more to say .

A strong manufacturing base is important to any country, us Brits do quite well considering our size/population, although saying that it was much higher many years ago! Now the UK relies to much on the financial sector.

The Manufacturing industry in the UK has been totally ignored for far too long , the country can not live on the financial and public sectors alone ( even if Gordon Brown thought it could ) but it will take many , many years to put it all wright , and i am not sure if any one in government at this present time has the balls to do it , i think the UK has many bleak years ahead , probably the USA too , you can not keep on taking out with out giving something back , simple basic business . greed greed greed .
