Has anyone had success with vanilla? I heard that it's very difficult and not sure if they would grow at my small plot in Ubon.

One question on planting trees, do you know where I can find a guide to what trees are suited to Isaan climate, so I don't waste more money planting trees that just can't cut it in the climate and soil>?
-
That's good news that you're selling your produce at a market in Yosothon. Are you using chemical fertilizers or have you thought about going organic?

Good luck with your small farm project. You're an inspiration. I have 21 rai at Sirindorn Dam in Ubon and have planted trees. Some do well, particularly mangoes, others just don't suit the Isaan climate or soil. I am planting not for profit though and have an intention to plant a lot more varieties of trees that are suited to the Isaac climate and soil to create a biodiverse area of trees. Staying away from Eucalyptus as they destroy the soil but are a good cash crop.

I saw an old post from 2101 from someone interested in cultivating Vanilla in Thailand. My there questions:
1) Has anyone had any success?
2) Would the vanilla orchids grown in Isaan? Specifically in Ubon where I have a micro farm at the waters edge at Sirindhorn Dam.
3) Are the roots of starter plants available in Thailand and where from?
Thanks for any sensible advice and answers to this post.

I want to buy a Pinkish-White water buffalo mother and baby. Does anyone know where I can buy and how much I should pay for a healthy mother and baby water buffalo? I heard the white-pink coloured buffalo are quite rare as everyone in the village says they can find the grey colour buffalo but not white-pink colour.
Any idea where I can buy and how much they cost? I want tip top healthy, best of breed. Thanks for any advice. My farm is at Sirndhorn Dam in Ubon and I have 24 rai of grass for them to graze on.

Out of interest, have you decided to keep rabbits?

Can anyone recommend a skilled carpenter in Ubon. Not your usual hammer and nails guy. I need a carpenter to make wooden window frames and two arched doors. Willing to pay a good price for the best carpenter available. Flights and accommodation included if carpenter is located in another part of Thailand. Hoping someone can recommend.

Great videos. I watched one and had to see the whole series so far. Post production is excellent. Can I ask what camera do you use to film this? Is there a third person working the cam or do you stick it on a tripod? I am not a professional photographer, just loved the style, mood and tone of the videos that capture a real sense of living of Thailand. Well done!

Does anyone else have any pure-breed Continental Giant rabbits in Thailand? I would be interested in mating my four Contis with pure breeds if in Thailand.
-
I believe that is why Kasetsart Uniersity had a project to breed the perfect large meat rabbit, resulting in the cross-breed Palomino x New Zealand White x Flemish Giant bunnies that I bought at the agricultural fair. The Continental Giants are doing well here and I plan to keep them pure bred as I imported them as pedigree rabbits from the UK. I may mate the Buck Continental Giants with the cross-breed does from Kasetsart to see what kits are produced. Anyone interested in Continental Giants as pedigree pets, please contact me.

A visit to Kasetsart Agricultural Fair in Bangkok last year (2011) and I returned with two bunnies costing THB 300 each. Cross breed of Palomino (tasty meat) x Flemish Giant (huge size) and New Zealand White (fleshy). Two does are doing well as pets. I have since obtained four pedigree Continental Giants, considered to be the world's largest rabbit breed. Anyone interested in giant bunnies should go to the next Kasetsart Agricultural Fair.

Having searched far and wide for Flemish Giants in Thailand I decided to bring four pedigree Continental Giants, considered to be the world's largest rabbit breed, to Thailand. The four bunnies (nearly 4 months old now) are doing really well at Latis, my small farm in Ubon.

I am looking for Flemish Giants or Continental Giant rabbits. Are there any for sale in Thailand?

Wondering if anyone can help me and not sure if this is the right place to post my question. I have a MacBook Air laptop running 10.7 Lion operating system. I live in Suan Plue, Bangkok. I need internet connection and the building I am in cannot provide a connection. I went to AID and they sold me a Pocket Wifi for 3,900 Baht and a monthly package but the connection was soooo slow. I went back to AIS four days ago and another person sold me a USB air card Double-Surf 3G 7.2Mbps with an AIS/TOT simm. 350 Baht of prepaid simm lasted two days. I went back to AIS yesterday and they sold me another package which is AIS 3G using the USB air card. The service of AIS in Suan Plue, Sathorn is terrible and it now takes more than 30 seconds to load a web page. 10 minutes to send a 2MB large attachment to an email. My question is how can i get a TOT service as they have much better coverage for my soi. Do I have to buy another air card and how can I get TOT wifi service? I went to True and they said that their service does not support Mac 10.7 operating system. HELP as I am a techno nerd paying a lot for these air cards.

Well done Isaan Aussie for organizing the gathering! I'll have to be the early bird and swing by on Saturday morning after 10am. Alas, cannot stay too long as work requires me to fly back to Bangkok on Saturday afternoon. Booked on the TG45 at 2:20pm. I'll bring along a couple of bottles of Johnnie Walker Black. Sorry I'll miss the late afternoon and evening. Is 10am too early on Saturday?

Did you source your Bamboo flooring? I too am looking for a supplier in Thailand for bamboo flooring. I see it has been used by a hotel at Khon Kaen to great effect.
