  1. Don't forget that not all immigration offices are granting a second extension.

Phuket for example will normally not do a 7 day extension after your first one.

No intention to hijack here but could that possibly apply to a future extension of a visa as well?

For example, on the second entry of a triple entry tourist visa, a 30 day extension has already been granted and want an additional 7 day extension. If that is granted, would it have any effect on applying for a 30-day extension while using the third 60-day entry?

Edit: Not located in Phuket by the way, but would be at Jomtien immigration.

  2. Not that I'm encouraging this but if you did want to moderately monitor her phone I know a couple apps that are very impressive with the capabilities they offer. Usually this is much more simple to do on an android phone but iPhone is doable as well. I'm sharing this because some of the tracking and recording features can dig so deep that it's almost unbelievable! Real time photo capture, video recording, audio, SMS/call logs, just to name a few. PM me if anyone wants to know more.

And it doesn't only work for checking up on your daughter's safety ? but sadly can cause the termination of plenty of relationships!

  3. One of my lady's old friends who I would run into on nights out would always ask me for a drink. I'd usually buy her a drink when I'd see her around as she was always financially troubled and was a long time friend/acquaintance.

One night I just wasn't in the mood, nor was I even ordering a drink for myself as I just stopped by one of my usual watering holes. She asked me for a drink at least ten times and she wouldn't understand the answer, "No, not tonight."

Suddenly a service staff (friend of mine too) shows up with a drink she apparently ordered when I wasn't paying attention and when he presents the bill for her, she just points at me. He gives me a bewildered look and I motion to him that I'm not covering the bill.

She was forced to break out a hundred baht and pay up, and by doing so she lost all face that night. A couple minutes later she broke into tears and kept whimpering about how she could not believe her "brother" would not buy her a drink... w00t.giftongue.png

  4. Yeah I had that idea but for some reason kinda forgot it when I started exploring other options. I ended up getting a multi-trip flight with Bangkok Airways for around $200 because Air Asia only operates out of DMK now and the timings didn't work out anyway.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

  5. I've been looking for the best route to travel from Phnom Penh to Udon and I can't seem to find any flights of any nearby airports other than Vientiane. That wouldn't be the worst plan but the one way flight with Vietnam Airlines is something like $165+ and then tack on the Laos visa which I would only need to get from the airport to the border.

Is there some kind of transit visa available for just going from the airport to the border across Friendship Bridge?

I realize I can take a bus but I don't really have the time or patience right now.

I would pay the $200+ to make the trip but it just seems like there should be another way. Flying from Bangkok to most surrounding capital cities can usually be done for well under $100. Thanks in advance for any replies and suggestions.

  6. I've taken a few one way flights to Thailand and got hassled but was finally let through. This was out of San Francisco. Since then I've used old itineraries with changed dates, or fully refundable onward flights which I later cancel.

Flying from BKK to Israel with a one way a few years ago I was denied and had to run to the internet cafe at the other side of the airport and buy a random fully refundable onward ticket for around $1800. Printed it out, made another copy with the passenger edited info for some poor guy in the same situation who couldn't speak English or use a computer, ran back, got through just before the cutoff time.

By the time I got to Israel and cancelled the refundable ticket (a day or so after arrival), the airline hadn't even processed the payment on my credit card yet so I had no worries about checking the refund status. It was just a 2-3 minute phone call through Skype and all in all a very simple process.

There are many ways around this potential obstacle but your safest option is to get any fully refundable onward ticket. And those Air Asia flights are much cheaper.

  7. Last year I had a taxi driver in Bangkok tell me that he had two wives who were sisters. First he was married to the older sister, and later had an affair with her younger sister who then got pregnant and had his baby. He said that her parents actually wanted him to marry the younger daughter because they had a child together.

So the moral of the story is... maybe you should knock her up! w00t.gif

So you have been staying at the Honey Hotel in Bangers and using their Taxi's.w00t.gif

Negative. Heard the same story there?

  9. So this is kind of a spin off from my last topic I posted about where to visit for a few days with my Thai girlfriend. Link here: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/678780-where-to-visit-in-se-asia-with-my-girlfriend-for-a-few-days/

Anyway, one user mentioned the island of Phu Quoc in Vietnam, which I'm considering. I'm planning on flying out of BKK on the 15th or 16th of this month. I have been to Saigon and Nha Trang 6 years ago but don't remember much. Anyone think spending an extra night or two in Saigon on the way to or from Phu Quoc would be a good idea?

I'd mainly like to hear some more personal experiences from anyone who's been to Phu Quoc. Can't seem to find too many personal reviews on Google.

  10. I've ordered delivery from them several times in the past year and on more than one occasion I have been blown away by the quickness of the delivery. Really from the time I hung up the phone to the time there was a knock at my door, 10-15 minutes had gone by. Granted, I was having my orders delivered fairly nearby, just before Big C Extra. I've never been overcharged on the delivery either.

  11. See my feet? Ever tried folding a bowling ball in half?

Haha Good one biggrin.png Im a licensed health advisor im sure about what I am saying. I lost 10 kg with this method not only that I became really fit. I could have lost a lot more but my face became to skinny. so I decided to keep the weight. and thats a lot harder. you just start slowly jogging. first time 200m then increase a bit(50m) everyday. NIKE"Just Do It" Mon-Friday thumbsup.gif

Easier is 6 eatingmoments a day with a mandatory breakfast, lunch and dinner. In between f.e. fruit, cookie, cup a soup etc. Calorie intake between 1.500-1.800 a day. Excersise, walking is sufficient between 30 -120 min a day. Goes slower with loosing weight but better for the long run. Do this 6 months and weightloss of 20% guaranteed.

    Just saying....

The number of calories is really going to depend on the size/weight of the person. Most important thing while trying to lose weight is to have a calorie deficit. First you need to calculate your BMR, and then decide on how much of a deficit you want. Just remember that a deficit of 500 calories per day means you should lose 1 pound per week.

Anyway, as far as boredom, a strict diet (along with a specific workout routine) is one thing that keeps me busy and thinking throughout the day. Although I only do something like that a couple months out of the year.

I don't think I saw anyone mention playing musical instrument but that's a good one. I've been meaning to get back into guitar lately which came to me as a direct outcome of OP's dilemma.

  12. Universe Gym on Sukhumvit Road right by Pattaya Klang offers pretty good discounts when two people sign up together at the same time. I want to sign up for 6 months, which would be 2000 Baht each for our memberships. If I sign up on my own it will be 2700. Not a huge difference but worth a try. I'd like to sign up tomorrow (September 23). If anyone has any interest post here.

  13. which bank do you refer as "yellow"? I just withdraw at Bangkok Bank and that's 25,000 limit + the 150 fee.

The OP was not very clear on his post. Did you mean the highest ATM limit for withdrawing with an ATM card from another country? Or withdrawing with an ATM card from a Thai bank?

Well the yellow ATMS im referring to is Krungsi Banks. Big bright yellow ATMS. You can definitely take out 30,000 at a time there. I do it all the time to withdrawal using my american ATM card.

Very good to know. Does this go for every Krungsi ATM machine or just the ones in your area? And if so, what area might that be?

  14. Yes Breadbin. The absolute truth. Just such a pity I only NOW get to read your advice hey. Much to late for me now. Anyway, thanks for sharing your insight into Thainess with all of us. I can but only HOPE everybody who are fortunate enough to read it here will take heed thereof and abide thereto you know.

I recently went through a breakup with my Thai GF, and Ive been missing her every day even though its probably better that we arent together any more. What I did not expect was not only missing her physically, but we also did almost everything together as constant companions and I realize that she was my best friend during our time together. Despite the fact that I felt it was more of a financial relationship, I still feel as though I have lost my best friend.

I didnt have a big number of friends to begin with, and losing her really took the wind out of my sails.

My ex gf decided that if I was no longer willing to support her, she was not going to have anything to do with me any more, which evidently meant she was really not my friend to begin with. Im shocked that although I did not care for her so much emotionally, I still feel like I have lost my best friend. Im will try to be careful the next time around, maybe not rely so much on one person, and try to make more friends in Thailand just in case my relationship in the future doesnt work out.

Is your Thai GF/wife also your best friend, and if you no longer had a relationship with her, do you think you would remain friends? Do you have any ex Thai gf that you remain friends with?

So, you admit that she was with you for money but your still missing her even though as I'm sure you'd agree that she was taking advantage if you. If you had no income or money she wouldn't have wanted to know.

My advice, get over get now, wise up, grow up and find someone decent out of a bar environment,

Do not ever offer any money for anything or buy anything other than a bunch of cheap flowers. Offer to pay 50/50 for dates.

If she keeps coming back then she may be a keeper. If she doesn't shed after money.

Heed this advice and you'll be ok.

Yes she was with me for the money, no doubt about it. She was doing very well when she was with me in terms of what I gave her plus what she made at her normal job.

So, in your opinion, I should just go to a bar, and find someone decent, and then not pay her any money? Maybe this has worked for you, but I dont think any woman in her right mind is going to go with me for free from a bar environment. Im not young, Im fat, and Im not rich or handsome.

When he said "find someone decent out of a bar environment" I think he meant "find someone decent, who is not working in a bar environment". It's common knowledge that the girls in the bar environment will always only be after your money, especially if you're not young, rich, or handsome.

  15. It says to enter before March 18, 2014. So I should be OK to do use all three entries, even if I get 30-day extensions on both of the first two.

I don't follow the timing on this.

Assuming the Honorary Consulate issued your visa in the mid-August period, a use before date of mid-March would be 7 months -- not 6.

I also wasn't sure why it is valid for 7 months. My only thought would be that they perhaps issued the validity for 6 months beginning after I enter the country, which I stated as September 17, although I didn't think they do that. The triple entry visa I got last year from Portland was valid for 6 months from the issue date.

Why not check with the consulate as suggested by Mightycabage before firming up your plans ?

I called a few times, did not get through, and emailed last week. What I meant really was is the 6 month window starting on date of issue or date of planned entry? If it's once issued then I ideally will wait a few weeks. But mightycabage if yours says March 18th that is 7 months from date of issue, yes?

Yes, not sure why that happened. Also, if they now said they're not doing mail in applications anymore, I think I got lucky by sending mine in before they reopened up and made that claim. I'm surprised though that there still haven't been any changes to the website.

  16. HK dollars not a problem, all bank/exchanger will change to baht.

the rest i dont think most exchanger will touch this part of the world, or for very high commission.

(even in Italy, they wanted 15% commission on Turkish lira, for example).

certainly, if you have coins, changing those better forget outright.

This is kind of what I was thinking. I wasn't worried about the HK dollars. Mainly the others. I do have a bunch of coins as well but I know that those won't be taken anywhere. I think I'll just take all the bills with me and see what I can do. Luckily about half of it is HK dollars.
