  1. I've tried contacting them and they say go through the application process first which includes many paid steps. Seems strange. And acquaintances who send their children there just smirk when I ask how much it costs. Its like a huge secret.

  2. Does anyone know the range of school fees for Montford College (primary and secondary) and Prince Royal's College?

They make it impossible to find out without paying for assessments and being accepted first!

  3. I'll give La Fourchette a call. With imported beef there's hope...right?

    Thanks for the input!

So did you track down your Beef Wellington, and if so, was it any good?

I did give La Fourchette a call, but they do not have beef wellington on order except for Christmas/special holidays.

  4. Follow Changklan Rd to the river, go under Mahidol Rd highway.

Straight ahead past the infant school and on the right before you reach 7/11 you will see a shop doing lots of re-upholstery. I haven't used them, but they are always busy.

Someone else might be able to be more specific.

The shop owner is Nopi. His # is 0817658933. He speaks very little English so better to go in person with photos of what you would like. His work is beautiful and he picks up and delivers.

  5. We recently used a little guy on the river road. Shortly after you pass under Mahidol road he has a little shop on the right about 50 yards before 7-11. The shop front is open and from the chairs and stuff it is quite obvious.

We had all the padding and upholstery replaced on a sofa bed and were very impressed by the quality of the work and the price.

Thanks for the directions, I just had a sofa recushioned and recovered by this shop. The owner's name is Nopi and he couldn't have done a better job. He comes to your home for a consultation, he will pick up and drop off, his prices are very reasonable and he completed the work in less than the quoted time! My old ratty sofa looks catlogue fashionable. He did a superb job! PM me for his #.

  6. I've witnessed two gang attacks on unsuspecting locals on the Iron Bridge. The first time involved two young Thai friends walking down the street who were jumped by 6 guys with bats and machetes. The second time a gang pulled a guy off his motorbike and beat him. In the span of a minute 4 others had pulled up on motorbikes and joined in the senseless beating. Local friends say to never go near the Iron bridge after 10pm. Maybe the gang has spreadout?

  7. It is called P90x, the x standing in for EXTREME! It is NOT a program designed for people who have been inactive for some time. It is however a fantastic program that allows you to tailor to what your ultimate fitness goals are. The package even includes meal plans. I chose to complete the 'lean' routine and was VERY pleased with my results over a 3 month period. I did take it very seriously so I worked out 5-6 days a week. Again the results were terrific!

I do agree that Tony can get annoying, but he's hardly as bad or grating on the ears as most DVD trainers are. Also... if you listen carefully, he says some pretty kinky stuff....

  8. What's the big deal with MSG?

Just looked it up and has been used for years in food.

What are the symptoms of consuming it? Is it just one of those latest paranoia things that has cropped up in the last 20 years suggesting that everything is bad for you?

Just curious to know why it is bad for you and what evidence is available to support this?

I've had very serious reactions to MSG in the past where I thought I was having heart failure. During my research of its danger I came across this:

    Can MSG really kill you?

MSG is an excitotoxin, which means it overexcites your cells to the point of damage or death, causing brain damage to varying degrees -- and potentially even triggering or worsening learning disabilities, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Lou Gehrig's disease and more.

Over 460,000 people per year are now dying of a disorder called of sudden cardiac death according to CDC statistics. Dr. Blaylock also reports: "Numerous glutamate receptors have been found within the heart's electrical conduction system, as well as heart muscle. When an excess of food-borne excitotoxins, such as MSG, hydrolyzed protein, soy protein isolate and concentrate, natural flavoring, sodium caseinate and aspartate from aspartame, are consumed, these glutamatereceptors are over stimulated, producing cardiac arrhythmias.

It is not the additives in soy, oyster sauce etc. that bother me, it's the spoon full after spoon full that restaurants add to a single dish. I find the more expensive the restaurant, the more prestigious it is, the more MSG they put in.

  9. Nobody has mentioned it, but I would like to say that the river is on the rise and has been midnight.... I would like to mention it , but I won't....... Nobody has mentioned it, but its beginning to look like another "here we go again" situations...... but I won't mention it.
