I'd be concerned about the pesticides too,  some of that stuff can cause major neurological issues.

Gabapentin helps a lot of folks with neuropathic pain,   without the same painkiller issues you might have with opiates.  My buddy back home has an essential tremor from pesticides.

I use it for nerve pain in my hand.

ran into an immediate snag. No US address=No "My Social Security Account" online=No online application possible. Before suggesting family in the states, look in the dictionary under "Family" and mine is none of that. They're more "Me First and Only" than a benz owner here. (we'll leave it at that)

I know from Manila that this doesn't affect my claiming SS at 62 but that's still 2 yrs away.

Did get contacted by a couple of exmilitary members so thank you (and them) for that. Will see how the VA side plays out.

    Google US mail forwarding cos.

I agree been going to Korat Immigration since they were in the TOT building back in 2008 and have never had a problem. There is a all new girl crew (actually had a young man at the check in table, think he was a student) now and they are all very helpful. I will definitely go a few weeks early when I have to renew next Feb just in case I need additional paperwork from the bank as I will be doing the new 65,000 baht in the bank every month route.

I just finished my 65,000 retirement extension, from bank had letter showing current balance, around 1oo,ooo baht and bank statements signed showing 7 months deposit. went smooth as silk.

  4. I had back of tongue cancer ,was treated in US ,35 radiation treatments and chemo,no surgery. The problem after head/neck radiation treatments is the jaws are very brittle.Must use extreme caution when getting dental service.

Find a dentist that has experience with cancer patients. The major Bangkok hospitals would be the start of my research.

Some people have done their extensions without 12 months of transfers.

Some offices have told people they needed 12 months. One person was able to get requirement changed by contacting immigration in Bangkok after being told no and to go out for a new non-o visa to start over again which does not require 12 months.

I suggest you check with your local office about it.

I visited Korat immigration last week, they told me my 8 monthly transfers would be fine for 2019.

hadn't thought of travelling.  silly me, I thought there might be competent doctors here in Korat.  there is nothing here in Korat worth mentioning, so you're probably right.  I need to go somewhere else.

I traveled all the way to Houston to get mine done. Govt hospital ok if you can wait a few months.

The problem could of resulted due you doing the transfer as baht. You a get better exchange rate here than what you get when you do the transfer in baht in the states.

Try transferring a small amount in dollars to see if goes directly to Bangkok Bank.

I use WELLS FARGO TO MAKE MONTHLY WIRE TRANSFERS ON LINE AND TRANSFER DOLLARS. Transfers are in my BB account next day. As UJ says you need to transfer U.S. DOLLARS.YOUR BIG PROBLEM WILL BE SOLVED.WHY WOULD YOU TRANSFER BAHT WITH THE VERY POOR EXCHANGE RATE?

Still the grouchy crew with that terrible woman in uniform (actually a cutie) running around and giving all those retirees a hard time?
The whole idea of moving the immigration to Dan Kwian is a joke; the old place in town was acceptably accessible. Now, try to get a cab/tuk tuk which takes you back the 20 kms to town ......

I disagree,I have been doing retirement extensions in Korat since 2009,every time I was treated very well and quickly.

IMO the staff are professional ,the new office is staffed with all females and is very efficient.
