Can somebody confirm the minimum amount of time before the expiration of a passport is when trying to renew a non-immigrant b?
I am getting mixed messages about this. Is it 6 months or 1 year?
Thanks in advance

I love how the Phuket haters take every opportunity to shit talk. Yes a lot of bad stuff happens in Patong and it seems to attract a lot of vermin. Patong is a small piece of Phuket. There are plenty more places in Phuket that aren't like that and are blissfully free of all that crap.

Another Brit, a middle aged women discribed as the neighbor from hell in England and some other Brits have been arrested in Bali for smuggling £1.6 million worth of cocaine via Thailand.
It appears these Brits are a real nasty bunch, hardcore scum of the lowest order.
It is now likely that all will receive the death penalty.

At least they won`t be serving a short term prison sentence in soft touch Britain, but will now face South East Asian justice, out of society forever.
When will these people even learn?
I have to admit, they look pretty fetching in orange. All they need now are some nice rope necklaces.

Obviously their mayor is having a laugh, or retarded. Or both.

15K does sound a bit harsh when some schools are paying foreign teachers 10 x that. In a couple of schools more.

But I think that the phrase 'Phuket babes' is a bit of a stretch.

As can be seen from the recent news, China is becoming VERY important to Thailand . . . you'll see now a switch from the 'western' market to the Chinese markets, both in industrial terms and also tourism.
Indeed it is. 1000s of Chinese govt. officials holidaying down here in Phuket can't be wrong. I was told 15,000 but I think that is a bit of a stretch. Even for Laguna.

I live in Thalang and can honestly say that I haven't felt on of these tremors. Just seen people panicking afterwards. I have spent a few years in Japan though so maybe I have become a little desensitized to little earth farts like 4.3s

If it was just rumors then I would pay them no heed. As we all know there are always some nonsense rumors going around about some impending catastrophe. But now that the government is stepping in and saying that everything will be alright, I start to wonder.

correct me if i'm wrong but i thought songkhran was only 1 day in phuket, or at least i only saw water being thrown for 1 day, but i only went to patong and other resort towns on the 13th, so all the other accidents were just the usual idiots on the road everyday
that would be correct

phew, not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Although the majority of checkpoints that I passed seemed to be sitting around and drinking tea, I think they might have missed some more opportunities to collect 'donations' from the naughty people on the road.

Just a headline looking fora story.
1,200 people in a population of more than 65 million could hardly be representative of the Thai population.
The problem with this sort of story is that they just perpetuate alcohol = bad myths, but do absolutely nothing to address what is a very serious matter.
never heard from statistics? 1200 is a very large sample if the people are selected carefully.
polls for elections have often a sample of 400 in Europe and it is enough.
Talking of statistics....apparently only 1 in 7 dwarves are happy.

Bleh! Booze didn't stop for the funeral, I doubt it will stop for Songkran. Also, as RegularReader said, a 1200 people poll don't mean <deleted>.

Stop buying into all the crap people and start looking at the big picture here....
Well the big picture is that Iran is developing nuclear weapons so that they can attack their enemies, who include Israel and Bangkok taxi drivers.
I feel that this is totally unfair! What about the Phuket taxi drivers?

I don't really get the scam...the guy is saying that he wants people to be aware...of what? Was it a hidden camera that recorded his PIN and a card scanner on top of the regular ATM? Or was the middle eastern dude somehow responsible just by hitting the cancel button? Seems unlikely. Anyway, I'd love to know the exact MO these guys are using to skim the card info and pin numbers.
You can't skim pin numbers, they arent encoded on the card. The old way of running this scam was to have a simple card reader getting the data and one of the scammers near the machine pretending to talk on their mobile phone, while there were really using the camera to record the persons finger movements. There is probably a slightly more flashy version of the scam being run now though.

The result of mafia corruption running unchecked in Phuket. It will only get worse and worse until the Government realises the value of cleaning the place up. It needs a replacement of every official at every level especially those higher up and especially those where the posts have to be paid for - which is all of them pretty much.
Dream on .....
Until people wake up and vote with their feet and go elsewhere NOTHING will happen. They do not care and would love to see the foreigners leave...until they discover they would have to really WORK for a living. All foreign embassies should place Phuket on a travel warning to avoid.
I think if the foriegners left and tourists stopped going the place would be bankrupt and you couldn't give the hotels away.
VERY TRUE.
I won't be leaving any time soon, sorry. I like my little corner of Phuket, although it's not in the trashy South. No job could pay me enough to live down there.

10% is peanuts compared to legitimate (UK) companies charging anything from 1000% to 2000%apr on payday loans. But yeah taking business away from bib is naughty

Thanks for the clarification. That helps a lot.
