Thai Do Home in Udon Thani has opened up near where the new international school will go. That store is huge.

Hi, does anyone know anything about any international school fairs that might be held in early 2014? There is usually the annual Thailand International Education Expo which is held annually but there is no information about a 2014 edition (http://www.thailandeducationfair.com/).
Any information would be appreciated.

First, you need to read the Tabien Rot, checking that the engine specs and indeed even make/model are a match for the car, next you'll need a Thai to help read it and make sure it doesn't say the car was re-manufactered.
Next, contact the DSI and make sure the car isn't on any of their lists.
The final test comes when transferring the Tabien Rot into your name - if that goes smoothly without any special help (i.e. no disappearing into a back office for 30 mins, or the seller saying 'we'll organise it, no need for you to come'), then you should be OK.
Thanks IMHO, very informative. Have you actually been though this process or has another member actually done this?

Hi, have been looking at a few grey market cars but with all the fuss over the legality of how many of these have been imported, is there any way to independently check yourself whether duty has been correctly paid or not? Could you check the license number with the Transport department to see what was legally registered? etc etc
Thanks for any help that can be provided

Hi Borovik, thanks for your help. Can you post the info here, just so if anyone else has a similar problem they can find all possible solutions. PM is ok as well if not.

Sorry, I mean we have about 17 of these at the moment sitting in the directors office gathering dust. We want to stick them into a single charging station where you could connect them all up to charge in between use. I know you can get similar systems for Ipads, but these have pretty bad power connection inputs so not sure if anything is available.
Basically, we want to be able to charge them together, and have a unit we could move from room to room as necessary. If we can't find something commerical, at a reasonable price, then probably we will hook up a bunch of power stips and stuff it all within some sort of box with dividers.
Any suggestions would be useful.

Anyone know where to find charging stations for these tablets?

Hey all, would appreciate any help in identifying who the big architecture firms are in Thailand. Particularly interested in those with prior education or resort experience.
Thanks for any help.

You could try S.L Young Construction. They are based in Kranuan, Khon Kaen, and could help you with your project. Just do a google search on their name because they have a website somewhere.

I do some web development work in Khon Kaen. PM or contact me through my website for details, www.flameweb.net

The Bangkok Moto Expo 2011 is on from 1 December until 11-12 December I think. Who's going? Anyone aware of any flood problems related to this? Can you taxi there from the CBD?

I thought this was interesting:
ajarnjobspace.com/salary_guide.php
Seems like the average, advertised, teaching salary is still around 30,000 baht. In my time here teaching salaries seem to have gone nowhere. Maybe the government could flag the ridiculous tablet scheme and invest in the teaching stock more.

Normally I receive a number of messages from tryhard recruitment companies trying to gain our business and recruit teachers for us. I don't understand why anyone with the resources to manage recruitment would bother to do this when teachers are such an important element to the school.
Anyway, the folks from Experience abroad proffered this as their argument for selecting their services:
Your Savings
We can save you money on your salaries that you pay your teachers. Currently, we recruit teachers from the UK on salaries of 30,000 THB per month for our Clients, so if you pay more at the moment for salaries then you will be able to save money. For example, if you pay your teachers 33.000 THB, and we recruit teachers for you who accept 30,000 THB, then you will save 3,000 THB per month, that's 12000 THB per teacher per term. Our teachers are happy to be paid 30,000 THB - they just want to be in Thailand. 30,000 THB is not a bad starting salary.
So are you one of the teachers happy to paid only 30,000 thb per month? Are they recruiting all the homeless and gap year students and sending them all over here?

I wouldn't get too up and arms about it, probably ignorance more than anything. NZ and Scotland often get missed as well and they are English speaking countries.
For instance, in all of these countries English is the major language spoken...
Antigua, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, Canada, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Ireland, Jamaica, New Zealand, St Christopher and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent, South Africa, Trinidad and Tobago, United Kingdom, United States of America

The cheque would have been for around 3,500 baht. Not a massive amount but worth chasing up. I still haven't heard back from Google so hopefully they will get back to me with where the cheque was cashed in Thailand so I can approach the bank involved.
-
Well, have any members had any experiences with stolen Adsense cheques? I have spent the last week or so searching through all the different places that my mail gets delivered to and finally contacted google to cancel the cheque and have it reissued. Much to my surprise they emailed me back and informed me that it has already been cashed,
After a bit of googling I have found that stolen google cheques is quite rampant across the second world so its not a big surprise that this has happened in LOS.
So, has anybody else had this situation and what did they do about it? Currently I have emailed Google back and tried to find out where my cheque was cashed. I should then be able to hit that bank up to try and recover my money and/or issue a police report...

This time of year can be a good period to find jobs in Thailand because there is a lot less competition for the jobs available. You might be able to get into a better school on a one semester deal and then be in pole position for jobs for the next year.
You could also try ajarnjobspace.com as they have a few jobs listed now.
Good luck

There is a new golf course just outside Khon Kaen called the Dan Koon Golf Course. Its west of Khon Kaen about 10km past the airport.
Save youself having to talk to the above.

If he's doesn't want to register it for the road then the import tax will be a lot less than for a road registered vehicle. However the proces is very tricky and you'd be best to forget it as advised.

If you have receipts for all the parts you might be able to ship it as such. I heard of someone else that did this by bringing a container load of parts across. This way it might be easier to deal with customs.
Where to Find Good Sandwich and Salad in Khon Kaen

Best sandwich I have found in KK is the Chicken Caesar at MamaBig. Mamabig, is near KKU so not convenient from the centre of town if you don't have transport though:

Firehaus in the Ozone Village also makes a good burger.
