I was going to sweep out the cobwebs today, but as I looked up I spotted a big fly struggling to get free and two spiders killing it. I hate flies. Lucky we have very tall ceilings because the cobwebs are staying.

BOA has a high wire tranfer fee. It's $35 to send baht and $45 to send USD. Their conversion rate is so bad that it's cheaper to pay $45 and send USD and have the Thai bank change it to baht if you are sending large amounts of money.
Pay Pal offers a debit card to US accounts. You can use it here at ATMs, but the maximum amount you can withdraw is $400, 12,000 baht. It's really a no-win situation if you are using BOA and Pay Pal. The fees koll you. The ATM fees are about the same for both cards.
Because of the high wire tranfer fee at BOA I take the money out with my Pay Pal debit card at an Aon ATM if it is small amounts (12,000) and do an online transfer if it is a large amount.
Citibank has no tranfer fees if you have a US account and a Thai account with them. But the Thai account needs a minimum of 100,000 baht all the time.

I like them less after a big python killed my cat in the screened in back porch. I live in Pak Kret.

You show up and order a beer and a pole. You pick a spot around a big, square, cement pond that is under a huge roof. The beer arrives first. Next a guy brings you a fishing pole with a tiny hook and a bobber/float, a plate of chopped up bait, a basket thing to keep your catch, and a rag. If you are a farang lady, he also baits your hook and casts for you. You spend the next few hours drinking, eating snacks, and watching football. Once in a while you catch a shrimp. When you've had enough, they come and take your basket of live shrimp and cook them for you. You don't kill them. We always go at night so it isn't hot and also they have plenty of fans. It seems to get busy later and is pretty crowded. There are a few Thai ladies there, but if yours is prissy she might not like it. There are plenty of "regulars" that arrive with their own pole. I'm not saying the OP should open one, but the place I go looks like it is doing well. It's clean and well kept. The toilets are even nice (by Thai standards). The prawns aren't how the place makes all of it's money. The food is good and most people drink while they fish. I think it's more fun than a bar.Sorry, may be thick, but how do you go prawn fishing. I've been to the one close to Saphan Taksin. It is really fun and the food was great. They had football on a big screen and lots of beer. You pay hourly and pay to cook the shrimp you catch. It wasn't cheap, but I think they make more of their money on beer sales. It was always crowded. I don't think they farm the shrimp, there's two guys that dump a couple baskets full onto the pond every hour.

I am always asked for proof of an onward ticket or visa when I fly out of Chicago, New York, or DC. I always fly ANA, but it is United staff at check in. I have showed them a train ticket to Nong Kai (they asked where that was and I said Laos), a used and expired visa and a Air Asia itinerary that was for the wrong year. The airlines don't really look at it or care. It's a rule they go through the motions to follow.
I've never been asked at passport control, and I go through there a lot.

I've even caught mistakes they've made using a calculator by doing the math in my head. Shocks them every time.

I can agree that people from any country that haven't tried a variety of strange (to them) foods don't want to eat anything except what they are used to. The first several trips I took with my husband, he ate nothing but Thai food. When I booked a trip to Penang my main interest was to try as many different foods as I could and I loathed the search for Thai food every meal. I solved this by showing him a TV show called "No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain". I explained that he is a famous chef and he travels around the world trying local food. We watched a Bangkok episode first to get him interested and then we watched the Penang episode. Seeing a "super-star" rave about laksa, mee gorang, and snails opened the door to trying new things. In Penang, we went to the same places Bourdain ate at and my husband tried everything (and yes, he took pictures at the different food stalls). Now before we go someplace new we watch some TV shows about it and he gets excited to go.

I'm not an internet person, but here are the two problems I've had connecting to True with a tablet. First, sometimes True has a home page that needs to open before you can connect with apps. To fix it just open the browser and let it load. The second, and more likely, your router might not have enough ports for all the people to connect. Turn off everyone elses laptops and try to connect. You might need to buy one with more ports.

I've been on 6 cruises. I think they're great. I run my own business and make my own schedule every day. I'm very busy. Whenever I travel, I'm the one that does all the planning. It's tiring. I really like the set itinerary on a cruise. No thinking required. I go where the ship takes me. No phone and little internet. I'm not a drinker or partier so a nice day at sea with nothing to do is a vacation.
I also enjoy the 28 hours it takes to get here on a plane. It's the most peaceful time I have.
My advice for travelers. Never book the cheapest cruise, plane ticket, or hotel.

The lecturer says he was attacked in his office, but the re-enactment is outside on the road?
Better lighting.

Trained monkeys are WAY more expensive than Thais. Plus, Thais rarely fling poo. After two years we have two great employees. At this rate I think I'll be dead before we have a full, reliable staff. Higher pay does not always mean better staff.

Maybe post in the ladies forum? The guys usually aren't much help judging from answers like "stay where you are". If you decide on Nonthaburi, I can recommend a really nice condo building. It's sort of close to JJ (20-30 min) and that's the closest MRT. It's quiet, has a pool, and nice landscaping. Rooms are 5000-15000. It's mostly Thai, bit some farang. It's gated and has little restsurants, laundry, and a 7. I felt very safe even late at night. If we didn't need a shophouse I would still be there. It isn't very good if you want to work in the city. It didn't flood.

Why bother replying when your answer is 0 help?
I'm also curious about a quieter location close to the Skytrain. I'm in Nonthanburi and it's not far from JJ but it also isn't quiet. A little bit more nature would be nice.

10,000 is way too much on top of lots of pocket money. Stop giving any pocket money and switch to a monthly deposit. It might be cheaper. If you are thinking of getting married it will be a good way to see how she handles cash. If she always needs more before the end of the month, run. No one can know what she is thinking about her future except her. In the past, I've made monthly "salary" deposits into my husband's account so he could show an income when applying for a tourist visa. He then used it to pay my rent, bills and add minutes to my phone There are many reasons, some good and some bad, for wanting cash coming into a bank account.

Getting a little pocket money from you when you feel like she deserves it and you approve of what she wants to buy is different from a specfic amount each month that she can use as she wants. You may be paying her expenses and keeping a tally in your head, but you need to remember she wouldn't be eating at the same level of restaurants without you. While she might enjoy travel, it's not a "need" for her so having her there is more for you than her. I would also question my future if my husband told me I couldn't work and I needed to ask permission to have the money to buy maxi pads each month. Some ladies are a bit shy about that. She might only make peanuts at her job, but they are her peanuts.

Only IDing girls with overweight Westerners? So it's ok for skinny men to have sex with children? What about girls walking to school with fat Western school mates? I think the age of the man is more important than his waist size.

You can tighten loose skin for a time by using Preperation-H creme. People that get gastric bypass and lose weight very fast are told to try it.

What's better for young kids, a mother who is working full time and sends them to a sitter that doesn't speak Thai in a strange country with zero family or a grandmother who is there 100% for them with no distractions and extended family to help.
My husband and I are trying to have a baby. My mil wants to take care of it. She expected that's the way it would work. We've compromised and she will live with us and be a nanny. It would break her heart if she didn't help with the baby. They think I'm strange to not let her keep it while it's a toddler. It's what they do.

Guess I've been peeing in the bushes all these years then! But seriously, Thai toilets are nicer than those in New Orleans by leaps and bounds.

i am thai people and i have seen what you ask about, in thai social about thai guy who has a g/f farang lady, thai people call them " MANGDA" ,,,
I'm not sure what I misread. Thai guy with farang g/f = mangda. Wild Orchid has never seen a mangda\thai guy with farang g\f pay for anything. It's a blanket statement about Thai guys with farang g/f. It'not true. I'm not saying it doesn't happen. I'm saying some of us have found good ones.

Thais Who Are Shockingly Skinny -- The Flip Side Of Obesity

My husband was built like a greyhound when we met. He's put on a bunch of weight since then. He's still skinny by western standards, but everyone he knows noticed the difference. His mother rubs his belly and laughs sometimes.
