  1. Using the 009 prefix costs 10 Baht not 6. Looked it up on the AIS website and their info is legit.

I check balance before and after a call then divide the difference by the time spent. I spend 6.2b per minute (To Australia) using the 009 prefix.

    Erm,

The OP wants to call Cambodia from Thailand.

How much you pay to call Australia from Thailand is irrelevant. Different counties different prices.

Calling Cambo using the 009 prefix cost 10 Baht per minute...check the AIS website if you don't believe me.

  2. Using the 009 prefix costs 10 Baht not 6. Looked it up on the AIS website and their info is legit.

I call Cambodia daily as I have a khmer girlfriend and here's the cheapest way to do it:

    http://www.thaitelephone.com/EN/calling-card/thailand/italk/index.php

Buy credit from this company via credit card, calling Cambo costs 2.5 Baht per minute.

You also have the option of using their 'Callback' service, which means that you call a local number and they'll call you back to connect you international call. It costs an extra 25 satang per minute, but it means that you won't get charged additionally by AIS whilst you're making the call.

So total per minute is 2.75 Baht. Quality is ok, not as clear as a normal call but it's only a quarter of the 009 price.

To buy, just follow the steps in the link that I provided.

Oh, and make sure you register for caller ID (step 3), that way you won't have to punch in your pin number everytime you make a call.

Any problems or questions just pm me, I'm happy to help.

  3. Has anyone done a double entry visa service from Sihanoukville recently? Things in the visa world change fast and I'm considering this route but would hate to get there and find out they no longer allow this.

    Thanks,

    Mark

The Visa service will still work in Sihanoukville, if you want to know for sure, I can provide a Tel. Nr. PM me.

Or contact Ana Travel Visa service, http://www.sihanoukv...nainternet.html

But same its posted already, could be only 1 Entry. 2 entry still available in Vientiane, as far as I know.

Double entry tourist visas haven't been issued from Phnom Penh in over a year. Was over there a few weeks ago...only single entries.

  4. Hi all,

Just read recently that there is now a direct bus service between Bangkok and Phnom Penh.

Does anyone know where the terminal is (in Bangkok) to catch one of those busses? Any info on price, departure times, travel time etc?

Also, does anyone know what terminal in Bangkok the regular busses to Cambodia depart from? Again, price, departure time?

    Any info is greatly appreciated.

    Cheers.

  5. How much are they charging for the single entry. How much if u use an agent?

Application fee for Single Entry Tourist Visa is THB1,000.-.

    No need to use agent.

    It's US$ 40.00 for a single entry.

With an agent a 2 day turnover costs $17.00. This gets cheaper if you have more time.

Using an agent is fully worth it if you don't want to deal with the embassy staff. Drop off your passport and photo and pick up the next afternoon. As I don't want anything to do with Thai bureaucracy it's money well spent.

  6. I also got refused a double entry in Cambodia. Are they giving them out in Laos now? Can someone whose been recently let us know where/if they have got a double entry and what info you needed. Last time I was in Cambodia they wanted flight tickets out of Thailand, bank statments and hotel reservations, which took me a few days to organise. It is to do with the new rules! I have done the tourist visa thing for a while now in Laos and Cambodia, this was the first time they insisted on all this paperwork.

    Good luck

Phnom Penh stopped issuing 2x entries months ago. I got my last one there in September 2011, it was also one of the very last double entries that was issued period.

On a brighter note, singles are easy to get now, but I advise to use an agent. Only requirement needed is a copy of a return ticket back to Thailand. No more hotel bookings/bank statements needed (when using an agent...not sure if that's the case when dealing with the Thai embassy yourself).

I was there 2 weeks ago, so this info is recent.

  7. Just returned from Phnom Penh last night. As I refuse to deal with the Thai embassy there I used the services of Mr Keo :

    [email protected]

    00185512767401

    211 Sisowath Quay

    Fee : $US 15

    Turnover : 2 days

Docs. required : Passport/1 photo/1 return flight to Thailand

If the Thai embassy in PP is giving you a hard time it pays to shell out the extra 15 bucks to get your visa sorted by someone like Keo (there are dozens of other agents in PP who will get the job done, but Keo is my prefered choice)

Please note that there's only single entries available at the moment.

  8. Just back this week as well and also with single-entry tourist visa (3rd in the past 9 mos. [but the others were 2x entries]). Cost is US$ 55 and all that's required is return ticket to Thailand and one photo; turnaround is one day.

PS: Can anyone tell me why the Thai embassy wants to see a one-way ticket return to Thailand for issuance of a visa for travel to Thailand? I could understand a ticket out of Thailand to some third country but why do they care if actually go to Thailand or not before issuing the visa?

Would you mind posting the contact details of the agent that you used?

Why proof of a return ticket to Thailand? Thai logic I suppose, no point in trying to figure it out.

The contact info is all in this thread...or use search function for "mr. Keo."

Thanks FB, I've used Keo before and will use him again next month if the turnaround is as quick as you stated. There's a Khmer public holiday in the week that I'm in PP, but it shouldn't affect me too much..

  10. Emailed Mr. Keo a couple of weeks ago. Only single entry tourist visas available at the moment.

    Here's a copy/paste of the email :

Dear Mr, Thank you very much for your support. Now it is easy for single entry only. Double entry ,embassy don provide. 4 days get back 44$. 3 days get back 51$. 2 days get back 56$. Thank you Merry Christmas Keo

Also, it seems as though the requirements for obtaining the visa are not as strict anymore, only proof of return flight to Thailand should suffice.

Oh and Bermondburi, what's the name of the bar that supplies $2 jugs of beer? I'll be in PP next month and feel a thirst coming on.

can't remember the name of the bar but it was pretty much directly opposite the Heart of Darkness club which is fairly famous. In some sort of shopping arcade. Run by a swiss guy and there is a pool table and some very comfortable big black chairs to lounge in. It's about a ten minute walk from the central market, perfect for me as I left the MRS shopping while I was supping !

Thanks for the info, I'll check it out when I'm in town, I know HOD well so should be easy to find.

  12. A couple of posters on this thread have mentioned that it would be impossible for you to obtain a non immigrant visa at this stage. Now, technically speaking that might be true, but the Brisbane consulate has been known to slightly bend the rules sometimes. In June '09 I obtained a non imm 'o' from them based on having a Thai girlfriend. All they needed was a letter from the GF stating that we were in a long term relationship, along with a copy of her passport/ID and sufficient funds in a bank account

    Good luck.

That was in 2009. The rules have been tightened up considerably since then.

Maybe so...but there's no harm in asking is there?

I merely gave the OP another option to explore, and if there is one place that is particulary helpfull it's the Brisbane consulate.

  13. Thanks for the relevant replies guys. I'll go with a double Tourist visa. Not sure if Brisbane will do a triple (anyone know?). I've investigated the Ed visa before and might leave that option for a future date if needed. Cheers and thanks!

Not sure if the Brisbane consulate does triples, best to phone them and ask. My experience with them is that they're friendly and willing to give advice.

Which brings me to another option that you might want to consider. If I were you I'd ring them up and ask if such an option would be available for you. It certainly worked for me, it got me a 15 month stay with multiple entries.

    Good luck.

  14. I'm in PP at the moment and am using Mr. Keo's services. I've brought a copy of my return flight back to Bangkok and a copy of my lease of my condo in Bangkok and will be picking up my passport with 2x entry tourist visa tomorrow morning.

To the OP, with your proof of return flight and 5 months of hotel booking you should not have a problem obtaining your desired visa, not only through Mr Keo but also through dozens of other travel agents in PP.

To whoever posted that Mr Keo would not be doing tourist visas anymore...that's just plain bullshit as I've just proven you wrong.

    awesome! thanks

    Imjustagirl,

Just to let you know, here's an update on my experience getting a 2x TV in PP.

On Tuesday evening I was told by one of Mr Keo's employees that my passport and visa would be ready for pick up the next day. They would call me and inform me what time.

Around mid afternoon the next day I hadn't received a call so I called Mr Keo myself. he informed me that my passport could possibly still come in that evening but he wasn't sure.

I called him again last night, still no passport, I'm starting to panic as I'm flying out the next afternoon. Mr Keo told me not to worry as he would pay for a ticket back to Bangkok out of his own pocket as he felt that he was responsible for the hold up.

This morning at about 11.30 i got a call telling me my passport was now at Mr Keo's shop, went there and picked it up. Mr Keo informed me that waiting times were now 3/4 days and people were starting to miss their return flights (he was forking out $145 per missed flight). So for the time being he wasn't going to accept any TV requests anymore, at least for a couple of weeks. He said he expected things to be back to normal again by next month.
