It's not time to legalise it, it's time to police it

Go to another country and get drunk and stupid!!!! I am sure it is all the fault of the farang!!!! they cause all this headache.....and they get a big headache in return....
probably acted all tough and cool, disrespected thais and maybe even tried to flirt with 7-11 girl.....this will not end well!!!
he is not helping us smile in land of smiles......back to UK to work in gravel pit!!!!
<deleted> How many of these attacks are done by cowardly Thais who take advantage of someone if they are drunk or injured? Almost all of them. Those cowards who attacked him only did so because he was compromised. If these Thais were in the West they would have been beaten so bad they would wish they were never born.
Let's face it, Thais can't fight. When they go abroad they cry about the first person who doesn't smile at them but when foreigners go to the 'land of smiles' they attack them in large groups when the foreigner's back is turned. Why? Because they are afraid of getting the beat out of them one on one.
Those cowards wouldn't be considered real men anywhere else in the world -- which is also why Thai women date westerners.
Thais can't fight? Tell that to the 5'6" skinny Thai guy I saw kick the crap out of a 6'6" German steroid freak. Some of them can definitely fight

Ratchetewi BTS - 100 meter radius - full sight of police box often having police standing around - cars and motorbikes run through red lights - make illegal u tuns - block the zebra crossing - motorbikes moving at 10-20kph on the pavements -
Law is law ... only when there is resolve to enforce it. Otherwise it is only words on paper.
These are noble sentiments that would be good for Bangkok's image but police just don't want to work for no backhand.
Just got back from Hanoi where traffic seems chaotic but it is safer than Bangkok and police are on the streets helping people cross, and moving for hire transporters hustling tourists.
There is one big difference between Hanoi and Bangkok. In Hanoi there may be chaotic traffic, but it moves slowly and the drivers actively try not to kill pedestrians, they will go around them, whereas in Bangkok if you are stupid enough to try and cross the road the drivers will not slow down or try to avoid you

This heinous crime could not have been committed by a Thai.
Don't you think that pathetic joke is getting just a little bit tired yet? Try and come up with something original

Banned, Illegal but lets make a law to tax it
I was under the impression that e-smokes were encouraged in countries that have strong anti smoking campaigns ? What have I missed.
Australia has a very strong anti smoking campaign, and the sale of e cigs is prohibited under a ridiculous law that bans the sale of anything that imitates smoking, originally aimed at kids sweets that looked like cigarettes. You are however allowed to import e cigs from overseas for some bizarre reason.

Because the whole fabric of society is corrupt! to make changes now is going to be very difficult. Good luck to them.
"The whole fabric" of what society?
If you find a gang of crooks in New York or London or Sydney, does that
make everyone in the country (the whole fabric of society) corrupt?
Seems like a flaming generalization at best.
While I do agree with you up to a point, I was discussing corruption with a hotel worker several years ago, and her reaction was "not only is Thailand corrupt, we are the best in the world at it"

http://www.nasdaq.com/article/is-barefoot-driving-legal-cm246451
"NMRA, an insurance company in Australia, surveyed 1,000 drivers and found a whopping 60 percent were cruising in flip-flops or stiletto heels -- and 38 percent said they have had a shoe come off prior to an accident...Sheilas' Wheels , a British insurer, found that 80 percent of female drivers were wearing "inappropriate" footwear when driving -- flip-flops, high heels and bare feet. One in 10 of the respondents reported a car crash or a near miss due to their footwear.... Flip-flops offer zero heel support, tend to slip off and can become wedged under a pedal, which can be a major distraction as a driver tries to slip the shoe back on."
Surely if this is an NRMA survey from Australia, 60% would be cruising wearing thongs or stiletto heels. I have been driving for over 30 years wearing thongs and never once have they caused me to have an accident

As my nickname says, I travel a lot.
Have been to almost 100 countries.
By far, is Thailand the worst offender in this regards.
Never any other place (maybe some city here and there), is the total disregard for the traffic regulations so universal, as it is in Thailand.
Never been to Vietnam then ?
At least in Vietnam you can be reasonably confident that you will get to the other side of the road alive. While drivers may not stop at pedestrian crossings they do actually make a conscious effort to avoid running you over, and generally they don't travel at more than 40km per hour. The traffic police in Vietnam will definitely stop people and issue fines if they see them breaking the road rules, and while I am sure that some of them may be open to bribery, I personally have never seen or been subjected to it, unlike Thailand where it seems to be the national sport

"I figured it out , they were from BKK-PKT Hospital and probably waiting for the guy to answer if he has insurance or not and if he has insurance , his bill is gaining on what services he's had already and what can they add on before anyone checks...."Your power of deduction is fantastic! Very clever indeed!"Money isn't everything ,but it's way ahead of what's in 2 nd place ! TiT "Is Thailand the ONLY country where hospitals and medic have a interest in money?Without money or insurance which hospital, in which country would welcome a patient?
Any public hospital in Australia, New Zealand or Cuba, just to name 3 off the top of my head

These fake fortune tellers (and I haven't met one single person yet that truly could predict the future, even though I believed very much in fortune telling in the past) should all be made legally responsible for the damage they cause with their poking around in the dark... One of these idiots causing mass panic and slumps in business/tourist revenue due to his/her "warning" but with no disaster actually happening, should pay for the losses. We'll then see how many of them still dare to make any of those "the world as we know it is coming to an end" statements. There will be none!
I almost got killed in the 2004 Tsunami, lost home and both parents, friends and neighbors, and (apart from the expert who got booted for stating that there is a big possibility for a Tsunami on Thailand's Westcoast many years before 2004) no fortune teller ever mentioned any tsunami back then. After 2004 all of a sudden, several of those "Wannabe Nostradami" came out the closet and predicted tsunamis all over the place - if all predictions would have become reality, there would have been over 20 subsequent tsunamis by now. Beware of the false prophets! Best throw them in a dungeon and let them lay the Tarot to the sewer rats!
I want to state up front that I do not believe in fortune tellers, but in December 2004 an Irish woman that I know told me not to travel to Asia that Christmas because something really bad was going to happen, she didn't know what or where, just that something really bad was going to happen in Asia

The key to learning a language is in actually using the language. Thais in general get very little exposure or chance to use the language.
Maybe so, but I have found most Thais are far less willing to make the effort to converse in a foreign language, when given the opportunity, than any other place I have lived.
Every time I have been to Vietnam, I always have students approach me and ask very politely if they can practice their English with me, I have never had this happen in Thailand

It is true that Aussies are confident to travel in Thailand, it's just that we don't want to anymore because of all of the scams, ladyboys, pickpockets, dangerous drivers etc etc etc. It does seem however that this may be changing for the better under the new leadership. I live in hope because Thailand is a beautiful country
Mate, I have it on good authority that the Aussies bloody well come here heaps for the Snagtarts - they're right into them like a fat kid into a pavlova. They call it Seam Gas Drilling. Be warned if a group of Aussies tell ya to "have a crack"
What can I say, there are sick f**ks from every country. However after seeing the BBC series on ladyboys it would seem that Poms like to do a bit of drilling as well.

Thai investments in Australia are worth around AUD7 billion, including mining, construction materials and real estate.
Just too bad it's not reciprocal!
Yes true and ask my wife who owns 3 investment properties in Melbourne and she will say Thai, land is for thais and Thailand doesn't have as much as Australia.
I would like to see OZ Govt. tax the owners of property that reside overseas. This would be on top of capital gains tax and would also need to put them on a register as a forigen owner at the lands department. As soon as any trading is done at the lands department, they are red flaged. Yeah and give them an extra tax on rental income. With properties in Sydney, Darwin and even Perth achieving around the $1 m mark and Brisbane, Melbourne not far behind could make some good money.
I would then put their taxed money into social housing and let them know they are paying for our poor. They can get a really nice letter from our tax department that they could show all their friends.
The problem with doing this is that all of the Chinese, Thais etc would start jumping up and down and calling Australia a racist country

There seems to be a lot of ignorance about the skills and experience in the Junta. If there is one thing that military are good at, apart from the soldiering - its all the engineering and infrastructure jobs. They are not ignorant in this area, and many of the senior and not so senior ranks have worked for long periods in developing countries where the infrastructure was destroyed. This includes, clean water supply, roads, and electricity. I am speaking from experience of working in the same places with them.
You beat me to it. Army engineering corps around the world are experts at this type of problem, I see no reason why Thailand would be any different.

Too many skinny, old farangs out here and too many cowardly Thai 'men' also
We need more Russians and maybe Arabs and Chinese. Those guys take no crap
Someone needs to show the Thais they ain't so tough
They may not all be tough, but I have seen a 5'6'' skinny little Thai guy beat the crap out of a 6'6'' German steroid freak. That little guy was a damn site tougher than me. I certainly wouldn't want 6 of them pounding on me.

I have seen these a--holes in action when a friend came to pick me up from my hotel, they smashed the s--t out of his car with iron bars and threatened both of us with the same treatment - all because they thought he was an illegal taxi driver working on their patch. I truly hope these pricks get everything that is coming to them.
