  1. 3 bedrooms, 3 baths, WiFi, fully furnished incl. linen and kitchen ware, big yard, security, communal pool, 200 m from the beach, hot water, fully air conditioned, all entertainment appliances, etc. Any length of rental possibile. Mail me or call 0869910013.

    Hans

What monthly rental are you looking for over 3 month period?

If the contract is minimum of 6 months; 32 000 monthly + expenses.

    12 months and over; 30 000 monthly + expenses.

Shorter contract case by case, depending a lot of the season. (Christmas and new year for example are more expensive if the contract is short.)

  2. I found in KL you must pay over RM 150 per night for anything even half decent (only barely acceptable). To expect a REAL hotel with FREE wifi for around RM 100 is wishful thinking.

    Good luck! :o

Yes, it is obvious that Malesian hotels have not adapted the technology of this century as have many other countries. I wouldn't believe it's the cost-factor; it is simply the fact that hotel owners have not yet understood HOW important the connection through internet really is to us westerners.

Writing this from Anjung and I must say this place is a positive surprise. Not expensive and still very cosy and just perfect for me who cannot afford to spend fortunes for having a place to stay. I very propably will be here again.

  3. hans, when i went, i went with airasia. com and when ya look on website instead of checking flights ya can check packages, once on here it gives about 15 or so hotels they offer, now click one of them and it shows hotels detail, how many rooms etc resteraunts etc location and maybe wi fi mate, worth a look.

incidently, maybe check then with hotel direct cos i stayed 5 mins walk from the petronas towers and it was 20 mins on a skytrain!

there is a big hotel over road from embassy but it did look v. expensive.

    best of look mate!

Air Asia web-site seems to give either all some other laces than KL or then expensive ones.

    BUT:

    DA DAAAA!

THE ONE AND ONLY in Malay Peninsula WITH the magical and state-of-the-art technology of connecting personal computers together, distant from each other, AND: o hear you people of the forests and fields: DOING IT WIRELESSLY...

    http://www.anjungkl.com/[/size]

65 RM for a single room, in the city, a/c in room, etc AND WIFI IN ROOM

I will report later how it was but seems very good according to the web-site of theirs.

  4. Searching TV, Googeling internet, telephoning around 15 hotels in KL; NO LUCK.

I apologize if this is not the place to post this but from the sub-forums it is THE most suitable one.

I am going to KL for the visa renewal and need a hotel WITH WIRELESS INTERNET IN THE ROOM. It seems that only the most expensive ones provide WI FI and this seems a bit astonishing. Is Malaysia this much behind the rest of the world in technology???

I am an owner of a guest-house in Pattaya and my guesthouse is in the price range of 400 - 700 b / night, and I know that around me there are many same range hotels and guest houses that, as do I, DO provide free WI FI for the customers.

Instead KL you spend minimum on 150 RM per night to have this facility.

Anyone know any hotel in KL under 150, preferrably under 100 RM, with WI FI?

  5. 1) Which car do you drive?

2)What are your hobbies and interests?

    3) What genre of music do you enjoy listening to?

    4) What publications (newspaper/magazines) do you read regularly?

    5) Your favorite hang out in Bangkok?

    6) Do you play sports?

    7) What is your occupation? (optional)

    1) Vigo 4WD.

    2) Reading, sports, studying, work and beautiful girls. (In the reverse order maybe...)

    3) Never listen to music. Do not have the time. I only HEAR music in some reare occasions. If I had the possibility to listen: Good music. Not in a specific category and I have on my MP3 e.g. rap, classic, Thai folk, opera, heavy, rock'n'roll, soft, disco, dance, etc. Music I like does not fall under one single, or even 2 - 3 categories. Good music can be any genre, any language.

    4) News, informative literacy, science, law, history, biografies. Anything that is not a waste of time and gives me some information.

    5) Airport when I come or leave. Never hang out in BKK if not absolutely necessary. Sometimes in the embassy or MoFA but only ofr work. My idea of having good time is not coping with a traffic of chaotic city.

    6) Several.

    7) Lawyer and business-man.

After reading other responds I see that I am as irregular personality as are irregular the owners of these cars. There is no similarities what so ever.

Maybe it is because in Thailand the choice of your car is not a selection of your personality but merely a selection of very limited possibilities.

  6. I tire of this nonsense.

I moved to Phuket two years ago, and here's my new solution: apply in KL for an MM2H (Malaysia My Second Home) visa.

Mine came through after three months, delayed only because of the huge number of applications recently received.

A ten year renewable visa. Come and go as frequently as you wish. Any foreigner may purchase buildings and land freehold. Capital Gains Tax on disposals reduced from 30% to 5% for MM2H holders after five years. No tax on remitted offshore income. No inheritance tax.

Why is anyone still in Thailand?

The full hit on the nail on it's head!!!

This is EXCACTLY what I have been discussing with my friends and already was in MY 2 weeks ago to study more these opportunities that they are offering.

Many many facts speak on the behalf of Malaysia.

There is only one reason why Thailand keeps itself still up... you figure that out. Yes! One and ONLY reason!

  7. There's a 4 Litre V6 Fortuner that is sold outside Thailand, I guess the Vigo is also for export.

I would certainly change my 3.0 Fortuner for the V6 if I could, sod the price of Gas, just give me more power :o

Now that I think of it... The carrier was travelling from BKK in the direction of Laem Chabang.

Sh*t! I would have loved something like that under the hood!

  8. I spotted a Toyota Vigo 4,0 V6 on the truck carrying new Toyotas to the dealer.

I have never ever heard there is something over 3,0 and this made me really interested in Vigo. There MIGHT just be hope to an ordinary make to attract my interest after all if there is something like that.

Searched the interenet and did not find info about this. Will call to the Toyota dealer but wanted to ask you guys first: Is this model real and do any of you know where to find some specs of that?

  9. I may be missing something here, buy why do so many people wire in money in foreign currency (thus potentially exposing themselves to the capital control checks)? Apart from the exchange rates into ThB given in some countries, and apart from the requirement for condo purchase money to be documented in foreign currency, why not just simply transfer ThB in? Is there some other consideration? I'm curious.

In my case the reason is the land registration authority's requirement to have funds transferred in foreign currency. No other possibilities. (In order to obtain the TT3, that is.)

  10. I wired in $60,000USD last week, no problem, no 30% taken out ( I don't know where people get these crazy ideas?). They did call and confirm why I transferred it (to live). Often, you need to go to several banks and branches to find one that will open an account on a tourist or other visa. Persistance and good cheer will prevail.

    My experience of yesterday:

Transferred last week from Europe to Kasikorn in Euro 47 000 €. "For purchase a condominuim unit in TH".

Kasikorn was not able to pay me the funds from central bank of Thailand before I provided them a sales contract to prove where the money was going. Otherwise 30% -rule would have applied.

  11. Mr Hans, I was informed reliably the B200,000 your friend paid was bail and it should have only been B100,000 that is why she begrudgingly returned it..What was the fine he paid in court??

No fine in the court because; as you can see from this thread: the case never went to the court.

And as you can also read from this thread: Kid paid 200 000, got a receipt of 100 000, and after contacting the captain, was returned 100 000.

    It's all in this thread.

I will keep this thread updated as soon as I can. Just now it's not the time...

  12. Far from end this story... Please, stay tuned. I will get back to this matter as soon as I have finished my work.

Interesting details are popping up. For expample that this mentioned woman police officer; Miss Ticky, is not a police offcer at all!!! Merely a translator who works at the Pattaya police station. She has just gained the trust of the real MIBs and she can hassle around there as she likes.

Now I have understood why she never wore any uniform or name badge at all.

  13. So is this new 3 year Visa not actually a proper "Non-Immigrant Visa" as such, but rather a special kind of "Business Visa", similar to how Thai Elite has a special "Tourist Visa" ???

How ignorant the Great Howard ever condemns me again, but I see that also others have noticed this to be a bit confusing to name this new shiny visa as simply Non-Imm B. It is VERY different from the existing 1 year one and nameing it very similarly, IS misleading. It is NOT just the validity that is different from the existing Business visa.

For many of us, who are currently on Non Imm B, this new visa is out of the question because of this employment thing.

  14. Secondly the guy could have handled the situation much better by completely denying what he did and using his friends as witnesses that he didn't do anything.

Finally he should have played the waiting game with the cops and let them get bored and start to realise they were not going to get anything out of him. They then would have tired and moved onto the next mark.

Mr. Kid DENIED everything and his testimonies were not allowed to come with him to the station.

He was not capable to play waiting game since his health was weaking and fast. Also he didn't like the idea to spend in Thailand for several months at the minimum. He was on holiday and his life is in Sweden. For me it would have been different. I actually wouldn't mind for stopping counting my visa days for, say; 2 years. He could have almost won the case if we fighted 2 years. And by winning I mean getting very light sentence by sueing the police and the "victim" on her attack on him. LOOOOONG fight anyway.

  15. I thought I read this carefully, but maybe I did miss something.

Anyway, to me it looks like Mr. Kid paid the police woman 200.000, but got a receipt for only 100.000, and then was only given 100.000 in return?

So the police woman managed to pocket 100.000 baht for herself then?

Exactly how much he groped the singer is of course impossible for us to say.

100 000 was kept by police as a bail-sum. And that was written on the receipt and that is the correct sum. That is a guarantee out of which the compenstation to the victim is paid.

That was completely justified for the police to get from Mr. Kid. What was not justified was to get double money in the police car without the receipt and after that write him a receipt of only 100 000 at the station.

Simple mathematics to tha Pattaya police: If you receive 2 baht, you do not write a receipt of 1 baht. If you receive 200 000...

Of course there might have been a mistake when counting the money but I little bit doubt it...

  16. I will let many parties know about this. Swedish media, local media, finnish media and finnish discussion groups. I happen to speak also fluent italian so why not italian media. Also ministries of foreign affairs, interior and travel here in Thailand.

Does anyone happen to have any informtion on Lucifer's owners or possibile shareholders? www.dbd.go.th has surely the managers name listed. Will try to fork that out.

But before Lucifer wil be contacted, the media and authorities. It must be severe enough punch for Lucifer to sack the ... "victim". They will understand only when their name pops out in negative limelight. Not before.

  17. OK guys. The reason I kept you waiting was that the Pattaya police had some signing to do before Mr. Kid was cleared and I did not want to jeopardize Mr. Kid’s changes here. He is a bit more important here than any of us.

A refusal to sign by the police would have meant devastating things to Mr. Kid. Maybe I am paranoid but better safe than sorry.

Mr. Kid is now in Sweden already. Left yesterday so now it’s time for some transparency here.

Mr. Kid took all this very seriously and started to show some severe mental problems over worrying the case. He did not sleep, didn’t eat, and stayed only in his room with curtains closed and constantly walking around the room. He was extremely nervous.

His daughter and the friend had left to the islands and were not reachable and you cannot blame them since they left before these mental problems started to accumulate and Mr. Kid had assured them everything to be OK. It proved to be a bit difficult to inform them about the weakening state of Mr. Kid.

I offered him all my help in anything he needed. He refused to take my offer of the shelter and I didn’t want to insist.

He was extremely worried what will happen to him and couldn’t keep him together.

For him this was the very first time he had any problems with the police, and for a simple family man like him, it was devastating.

I tried to stay in contact with him regularly and hoped him to go through this without any acts of severe desperation. He himself talked about the need to see the doctor and I agreed.

But just then the things turned to be better.

On Monday I had called the Swedish Embassy in Bangkok, and explained them very carefully what is happening.

They were immediately interested in the matter and I faxed them all the documentation about this. They were angry why the police hadn’t informed them as it is their duty to do so without delay.

The embassy contacted me again on Tuesday and I spoke with the 1st secretary who told me, after examining the documentation and being in contact with Banglamung police, Pattaya police and the ministry of interior in Bangkok, that Pattaya Police has made some severe mistakes and they will conduct a full investigation with Ministry of Interior on this matter, and especially actions of this woman police officer; Miss “Ticky”.

Now at this point our lawyer had agreed with the police captain and the “victim” a monetary compensation. 200 000 baht in a lump sum out of which a part goes to the lawyer but the major part to the “victim”.

With this money the “victim” and the police agree to change to accuse Mr. Kid only for accidentally touching the rear of this “victim” when stumbling after exiting the toilet.

This singer girl had very many witnesses from the personnel of Lucifer and they had all “seen” how Mr. Kid touched her genitals under the skirt. Purest product of a male bovine animal.

So many of the staff of Lucifer was in this scam to provide the girl the needed witnesses if this ever went to the court. Mr. Kid would have had very little changes with his 2 foreigner witnesses.

Now the embassy didn’t like this compensation all since it means that paying that, Mr. Kid admits to have done exactly as the “victim” wanted the things to go.

And embassy was completely standing behind Mr. Kid and his version of the story. They perfectly understood, from the papers I faxed them, that Mr. Kid could not have any idea what he confessed at the station that night.

And this is absolutely true. I KNOW, by examining all facts of this case, that Mr. Kid DID NOT PUT HIS HAND UNDER THE SKIRT AND INSIDE HER GENITALS! This is a ###### lie! Purest b_llshit that a human mind can produce!

I myself also felt furious against this “victim” and how she is now getting big money with her game and is winning the battle as she had planned all. But then again; for me Mr. Kid and his health is much more important than this bi… “victim”.

The embassy’s investigation at this point would mean for sure a loooong delay on this case for Mr. Kid. Also it would mean a penalty to Mr. Kid. Plus the “victim” would probably be convicted of the assault on Mr. Kid.

I talked with the 1st secretary and asked him to speak again with the ambassador on this case and I pleaded, for the sake of Mr. Kid, to end this agony of his as soon as possible before something much more damaging happens here.

Also Mr. Kid just wanted to pay this 200 000, get his passport and leave the place.

The embassy had a meeting on this and they then informed me to agree to let Mr. Kid make his settlements with the “victim”, wait until Mr. Kid is cleared out, and only then carry on with their investigation.

The embassy was very clear that they see these mistakes of Pattaya police severe violations of Vienna Convention and they will take care that Ministry of Interior takes full actions against this particular police officer involved here. They will use every diplomatic way to pressure this.

I have also now provided them with my full report of details here as they requested.

I am standing completely with the mission of the dear, loved and hated neighbour state of us Finns, the Swedish embassy.

    Some details what also happened:

When Mr. Kid got out of the police custody, he was delivered to his hotel byt the police. Around 1 km from the station. Police officer (guess who…) wanted to have 500 baht for gasoline for this trip.

Mr. Kid did not have Bahts left anymore so the police entered in his hotel room and took 500 Swedish Krones. Naturally any receipt of this was out of the question. And very difficult for Mr. Kid to ever report this anywhere.

When Mr. Kid paid his bail, Miss Ticky wanted 200 000 baht, received it and gave a receipt. Mr. Kid went back to his hotel and talked about this to the hotel staff who showed him that this receipt carries only a sum of 100 000 written on it. The hotel staff called the police superior and Mr. Kid was asked to come back to the station.

Mr. Kid went there and met there Miss Ticky. Miss Ticky was furious why Mr. Kid had contacted her superior, took the 100 000 baht from her drawer and slammed it on the table telling how she “cannot help you anymore”.

Miss Ticky refused to give her real name when asked by me and the lawyer on 2 different occasions.

Ticky tried to call Mr. Kid many many times during this hassle and all she had to say was that Mr. Kid needs to come to meet her in private, without any lawyers, and preferably with some money on him. (This money matter was told through the girl-friend and wisely not directly to Mr. Kid…)

The girl-friend of Mr. Kid left back to Phuket after she noticed how her help was not accepted here. She left for good. And this, on my opinion, was also for the good of Mr. Kid…

Mr. Kid got his passport back on Wednesday and he was so relieved that he just cried out of joy. Then went to sleep and slept for 20 hours.

The lawyer gave his opinion and he thought that had we gone through the court and prosecutions on this, Mr. Kid would have been convicted not very severely since:

-the place of incident was a small alley near the toilet and not a public place so there was no public humiliation to the “victim”.

-Pattaya, as an entertainment area, carries normally lower sanctions on these kind of cases.

-Mr. Kid is a foreigner plus does not have any history on this kind of matters.

-it is very vague what really happened since there are counter-witnesses.

It is a bit unclear if Mr. Kid would have been convicted according the story of the … woman or somewhere between the 2 versions of the happenings.

All the facts that the “victim” attacked Mr. Kid, and that the police made mistakes, however don’t cancel the fact that Mr. Kid tapped the … woman 2 times on her buttocks and for this he must be convicted.

Completely different matter is then the possible sanctions to the police and the … “victim”. Police maybe is investigated but I have my doubts if Miss Ticky will ever face any other consequence than a promotion.

The “victim” here is getting a good reward on this and would be stupid not to try it again.
