  1. is the name of it nam mae ping or it on the ping river---id like to check it out..

    http://www.nammaeping.com/ No English website.

A selection of their food for under 50B There is more, towards the back of the menu you find the 'over rice' section which has a good selection.

Alternatively, the 159B set of 5 dishes (not full size) is enough to feed two, plus rice and drinks.

    +1

good food (Northern thai + some 'Korean' style food) , location, clean, friendly, english menu with photos, suitable for locals and tourists, I usually go there for lunch. Very rarely crowded, always some guests.

I like gaeng hanglay, Khao Soi, crushed pork with nam prik, fried pumpkin and others.

  2. I recommend เฮือนข้าเจ้า Huan Kha Jao (or similar),

Kaeo Nawarat Soi 3/3, 053-262905 (not speaking english)

    +18° 47' 35.06", +99° 0' 26.84"\l "

Nobody can blame them to be a tourist trap. Always wonder why they dont care about english advertising. Google shows nearly nothing for varied english spellings. Google images for เฮือนข้าเจ้า to get an impression.

Great old teak house, collecting all kind of old things, e.g. movie posters from the 60s.

Food, service and place much more friendly and fascinating than the others. Show similar than in the other Kantokes (plus some 'special effects'...)

They used to have a show daily (at least in high season). Not been there for more than a year (no guests from home since a while :( ..). Dont know current status.

Old Cultural Center: I think that going there is clearly better than not going to any Kantoke for most novice CM visitors.

But I agree that they seem to be somehow lazy as a result of making easy money. Dont expect them to go the extra step...

(That is compared to CM level. The service in still much better than in most western countries)

I could only find one reason to go there instead of Huan Kha Jao: The staff normally speaks english. Not in Huan Kha Jao.
