  1. There are only a handful international schools in Thailand that are proper international schools, eg ISB NIST Patana etc. Dont waste your money on the rest, they are businesses, not schools, with majority local students who do not want to learn, its only prestige for them to say they go to an 'international school'. These schools are a joke. There are good Thai schools with a bilingual program and which are cheaper.

Do you have any opinion on the New Sathorn International School (NSIS) ? proper school or business ?

  2. It's on the website, not sure if I can post the link here? The web has the fees for the current academic year, the fees for 2011-12 will be published within the next few days. Just search for KIS International School, the fees are under the admissions link.

Hi, we are also looking for an international school in Bangkok and KIS is one of our options. We will schedule a campus tour in 2 months and will be moving to Bangkok by January but until then, I was wondering if you can answer a couple of questions for me.

    1. How many students are in the current Year 1 class and what is the maximum number of students for each class?

    2. Are there teacher assistants in each class? How many?

    3. Is the KIS curriculum inquiry-based?

    4. Will you be able to give out the salary range of the teachers and the turnover rate?

    5. What is the student ratio in the school based on nationalities?

One of my concerns is that it might be too far from where we will live. We will be staying at Naradhiwas 24, just 2 blocks from New Sathorn International School. I heard traffic can be really bad in BKK. Do you have any insights on how long the students travel on the school bus and what time they get picked up in the morning?

I thought of sending you a private message but I think the information above will benefit other parents as well. Thanks in advance!

Are you considering the New Sathorn International School too at all since you are living next to it ?

is is a proper international school or just a money-making machine ?

I've heard there are lots of so-called "international schools" in Thailand.

I am interested as I am considering moving in the area from London.

    Many thanks

  3. Hello,

I have briefly took a look at a school in Yannawa (BKK) called NSIS (New Sathorn International School) as I am considering moving in the area (am in London now). Has anyone anything to say about it ? I have two children, a boy (11) and a girl (9).

For some reason NSIS didn't seem really "international", there were only 4 or 5 white faces in the playground, all the other kids looked thai, but maybe it was just coincidental. Is this a proper school or is it just a "business" ? Someone on this thread mentioned the money-making machines ... How do you spot them ?

Fees are a bit less outrageous at NSIS than at Shrewsbury's which is also in the area, but if it is just a cash machine, then it certainly is too much

    Any advice ?

    Many thanks
