  1. hello fellow coro street fan :D

    yeah ya got a problem.....

But easily solved...... just leave her at home :o

I am fortunate that I am still good friends with my first wife and she sends me over tapes of the TV shows that I like.

Coro is 8 months behind in NZ and the current story line is about Fred being stiched up a Thai woman so I'm looking forward to seeing that.....

Nip & Tuck is another good show that she tapes for me.

The best thing to do is get a friend of your wifes to record the Tv programs.....

buy them a dvd recorder if you have to..... much cheaper to post a disc than a vhs tape

  2. My some curious instinct are BGs for some reason overloaded with "work" on valentines night ? (paid work)

    wannabee valentinos ?

I would guess that the negative impact on their business due to men feeling obliged to go out with their REAL girlfriend/wife on Valentines day would be greater than the positive impact of men feeling especially lonely on this special day and going out to find a companion.

yep I think they will be busy tonight...... perhaps TL should have February 15 as national mianoi day.... there pseudo valentines day :o

  3. Zero loyalty from those 30 girls......  they must all get that mgazine... "how to get rich from your Falang BF's"    in news stands twice weekly     :D

100,000 a month..... crazy... but try 40 million + baht in one lump sum...... this is true...... one stupid old bugger has given this to a girl in a nearby village..... didn't believe it myself so went for a drive with the misses and had a nosy.....   the woman now has 3 houses for her and the family, 3 big Kubota tractors, farm buildings, large plots of land and last year she was voted in as the Mayor of the village.... bought the votes ofcourse.....

Guys like this sure make it hard for the rest of us :D      but good on her getting such a good deal for the family.

    Serious @ James ? :D

Hey James , you will be branded a cheap charlie from now then, and I will be a farang keenok for sure. :D

Yeah Doc.... it's the village past the lake..... the one on the first corner.... the village gossip was that it was 60 million...... but you know how they get it wrong most of the time...... that's how much they said I had..... but this girl sure has the assets to show for it.... :o that's a good pun.... haha

  4. Valentines Day....what a load of <deleted>.

I too, resent being told when to buy my wife something. :o

oh! come on.... it's fun.... the girls just love it..... doesn't have to cost you an arm and a leg to buy a little something.

At loei market this evening the flower sellers were doing a roaring trade... great fun watching them make up the bunches and all the happy people buying flowers.

The restaurants were all full..... (99.9% Thai's) romancing their loved ones.

The commercialism..... ok with me as back in NZ I had a cut flower business and valentines day is the biggest day of the year for flower growers........ I would plan ahead 8 months in advance for all the different varieties of flowers and how many glasshouses etc.... sunflowers were my main crop.... hybrid types.... I would dye them red, very popular.....

Now in TL I just can not believe how cheap flowers are to buy..... I recomend people to visit the all night flower market in Bangkok..... 50 long stem roses for 40 to 80 baht...... gee at that price you could get a car load :D

  5. Zero loyalty from those 30 girls...... they must all get that mgazine... "how to get rich from your Falang BF's" in news stands twice weekly :o

    Yours

    Dorn

Well mate I am really surprised that there are members in this forum that would pm you such terrible comments..... :o my guess is they are small minded people and I'd bet my bottom dollar they do not live in TL.

I think constuctive criticism is healthy and we all need to take it on the chin sometimes...... but what some of these other guys are saying is way out of line..... just don't worry about them..... I for one welcome your contribution to this forum..... don't always agree ofcourse.... but if we all thought the same what dull and boring world we would live in......

    keep posting

    cheers mate

  7. I wasn't expecting anything until.........

Last night shortly after midnight...... the baby was back in her crip asleep and my wife turned to me and said....... "darling do you know what day it is today?"...... valentines day...... and then she said "back in minute"..... I hear her open the front door and I'm wondering what the hec is she doing...... then she is back in our room standing beside the bed with a beaming smile..... she lets her nighty drop to the floor and she holds an apricot rose bud that she had just picked to her chest and says......

Happy Valentines my sweet husband this is for you

So a very nice start to the day and an encore at 8.00am

I'll head off to the market this afternoon to get some roses and then we'll go out this evening to the bbq restaurant at the main round about at Loei..... they do great steaks there.

I don't deserve her do I??? what a silly bugger I was last week... re - my story "boys night out'

  8. She's not ugly and bloated like your average New Zealand girl.

steady on mate....... I still have two beautiful daughters (23 & 25) back there.... and the cutest little 5 year old grandaughter :D

and what is the real obese percentage in TL????

come and have a look in the village where I live and you will be surprised :o ...... I reckon it's the cooking oil...... and coconut milk

  9. " I still like Ying but love Wulan. Do you who read my post will understand what I meant? This valentine I will send my 2 of my GF a messages with different words. Am I wrong to do this?

    Yours

    Dorn "

yes a very personal post.... this forum may not be the best choice of place to tell us your life story.... but I'll give you my opinion for what it's worth.....

How many years has it been since you last saw Wulan..... 5 or 8 maybe.....

Both of you would have changed a lot since your childhood..... perhaps she is married with her own children.... do you want to steal her away from a guy that loves her like you did to Ying.

Your still thinking like that besotted little 13 year old..... it's time to grow up and either give your love 100% to Ying or end the relationship and accept that you are indeed a very selfish person for taking her away from that guy in the first place because you did not do it out of love you did it out envy and jealously.....

Do not send a valentines message to both....

  10. this 'karaoeke' business is complicated. The second time I went to visit the family the local hotel had mirrors on the ceiling and porno movies on the box and there was a karaoeke place next door with lots of girls. So the conclusion would be that karaoeke places are knocking shops and are always to be considered as such. Not that it interests me much as they are usually full of drunken thai men and I don't much fancy being eaten by mosquitos at night.

However later my wife goes with some of the family including some of the children to a karaoeke place near her village and everyone has a great time. She discussed the reading skills of some of the 10-11 year old nieces in terms of being able to read the lyrics to the songs on the machine.

So...I am confused...are karaoeke places to be considered iniquitous or places for wholesome family entertainment?

    Thai folks sure is clazy...

Perhaps one way of judging if these karaoke places are legit is to see what the girls are wearing..... if they have one of those skimpy outfits made out of a union jack or an american flag then you have your answer :D .... If I ever saw a girl in a New Zealand or Aussie flag she would get bloody good tip for sure :o

  11. Thanks for the great advice guys and gals....... I did leave out some details in the original post.... didn't want it to be a long boring story or sound like one of my Stickman submissions :D

I have not had a "boys night out before" in the village..... not even anywhere in TL..... I'm a saint I know..... the misses has taken me to Patpong, Cowboy when we first started dating but that's a whole other story about being "tested"

During the evening in question my brother in-law surprised me by saying that If I wanted to "go" with the girl he would keep his eyes ears and mouth shut and not tell my wife........ maybe he is just understanding of the situation I am in with my wife having a baby last month and I have to take cold showers and chop wood for next.. God knows how long :o ..... actualy while on this subject my mother in-law told my wife that we should not have sex for 3 months after conceiving, 2 months before birth and 4 months after birth..... anyone want a 10 tonne truch load of fire wood :D thankfully the misses does not always follow mums advice.

The hospital is down the same road as the Karaoke Bar so yes it is reasonable for her to say that she was going there as she would have seen my pickup as she turned down the road....... couldn't miss it... only one...surrounded by 20 motorcycles.

As for being either guilty, a pansy or henpecker to death.....

    a pansy...... Not!

henpecked.... Not!.... what has worked well for me in the past is that you let them have their way on the little things but when it comes to the big things you put ya foot down and have your way..... well 9 times out of 10 at least :D

guilty.... Yes!..... the girls was a great kisser and I was enjoying it...... and thankfully my wife did not see this as the girl was taking her turn at singing and it didn't help things with the boys doubled over in fits of laughter and tears in their eyes with me being caught out by my "FIERCE WIFE" as they call her.....

Well two days later all is well in the house of James...... except my wife has said one of her "double trick test questions"...... "honey if it makes you happy it is ok with me if you want to go to the karaoke"..... hmm! .... that's could be a topic for another time...... How often do you get the trick question.... and what do you say??

    seeya

  12. I have been living in a village up country for nearly a year now and the other day my brother in-law invites me for a night out with the "boys" playing snooker etc...

Of course I ask the wife's permission and after some discussion it is duly granted. :D

So we head off to a nearby town, the boys are in a very jovial mood with lots of singing, laughter and back slaps all round...... all this for snooker??? Not!

We end up at a Restaurant/Karaoke/Bar type place....... in no time at all we each have a "waitress" sitting on our lap pouring drinks and playing with our ear lobes :D

Now me being the ultimate party pooper is telling my waitress all about my wife and new born baby and showing her the photos in my wallet..... she looks very worried and says "maybe your wife come here fight me" I laugh and say... no chance of that she can not drive.

I ask the boys what type of place this and do they barfine the girls..... they do not understand what I am talking about and they tell me... "pay girls to have drinks"

Well we stay there until almost closing time (1.00am) and sure enough there is charge on the bill for the girls company....... so perhaps this is not a knocking shop after all.... "Is the Pope Catholic" :o

I wish this little story ended here, but who storms in a mad rage?? :D

you guessed it.... THE WIFE...... what are you doing she screams, why you not answer your phone...... sorry honey I left it in the car...... while this is going on the girls have all scattered....

I ask what is wrong and she says... I worry about you, why you so late, I on way to hospital to see if you there and saw your car at this place.

Ain't love grand :D she was so worried that she and the neighbour drove around trying to find me.

Well I'll be in the "dog box" for awhile and have to do a bit of grovelling too.... maybe a trip to the gold shop for valentines day will smooth things over.

So this topic could really come under different headings...... "village knocking shops", "does your wife let you out at night" and "does your brother in-law get you into trouble on purpose"....... or feel free to add your own.

  13. Lopburi's directional sense is correct. I was just in Chiang Khan in December and there were no border crossings for foreigners in Loei province, only Thais can cross. You could get your 30 day extension there at the office in Chiang Khan, but for border crossing, the nearest is Nong Khai as far as I know. By the way, the river area is simply beautiful.

Thanks for the info...... yes no problem getting a 30 day extension..... very friendly people at the office. We arrived at noon and had lunch with one of the officers at a nearby noodle shop which had a nice view over the river. In about 5 months time I will be making an application for a years extension to a non imm o visa so it's been good getting to know the officer who I hope will be doing the interviewing etc..

  14. Hi guys.... has anyone been to Chiang Khan Immigration Office?

I need to get a 30 day visa extension.

I presume there is not a Immigration Office in Loei and I will have to travel the 50km on to CK

Also can you do a border crossing at Chiang Khan.... just need to do a turn around next month and use my 2nd 60 day visa.

Thanks in advance for any info provided

  15. "TOYS"

You know the ones I mean...  :D

You just can't get them here... :D

yes brought one of those back from my last trip home ...... she didn't like it..... nothing like the real thing :D

I think I might give it to the mother inlaw...... :D ... here mum a gift for you..it's called a purple intercepter :o

    I also brought....

NZ sheep skin car seat covers

    ps2 and games

    wheetbix

    kiwifruit wine

2 adult dvd's.... she sure loved those :D ..... the wife I mean...... not the mother inlaw....

  16. Once a week we have the dog catchers from Sakonnakhon come around to collect unwanted dogs.

You see the black buckets on the top of the pickup..... well.. they will swap a bucket for a dog.

And what happens when they get back to Sakonnakhon?????

I won't tell you it will put you off your lunch.

  17. Hi Golf....... congradulations for your baby..... We have a one month old and we bought most of the baby gear at Tesco....

I'm not sure if this is the type of basinette that you have talked about but we bought a foldable type that can also swing, Tesco's has quite a good range of baby gear for us sensible cheap charlies :o

When I was back in in NZ I bought a car seat for a new born, this also has a fold down carry handle..... it has been great using this, not only for the car but just walking around shopping etc..... as you just can not use a pram or push chair on the broken pavement.

Depending on the the age of your baby I think the carry seat would be ideal to use for traveling back to the States.

I'm not sure if the carry seats are available here, you might have a kind relative who could send one over for you and then you could be assured that it's up to international safety standards. Evenflo Discovery is a good brand.

If there is any other info I could help you with just pm me.

  18. I also live in a village with no phone lines..... For the past 5 months I have been using a GPRS Itegno modem with a connection through DTAC.

I use the unlimited access plan which costs $1,443.00 baht per month.

The download speeds are comparable to a land line.

  19. If your not a fan of stickmanbangkok.com STOP READING NOW.... your only going to get yourself upset.... :D

Ok that just leaves you and me then...

Did you read Dana's submission... No 77 ??? sounds like it's his very last.

Reading No 77 sure was a hard slog..... all those bloody dolphins and that lady in the yellow 1933 Rolls Royce..... he sure took a long time to get to the point.... must have been another slow day at the office in Boston.

So no more Tranny Breakfasts, step ladders in the showers and impregnating young women because you refuse to wear a top hat.

So what do you think the real reason is that Dana has called it a day.

    1. His wife found stickmanbangkok.com?

    2. Those little blue pills no longer work?

    3. There are 7 little fat baby Dana lookalikes in Isaan needing their Daddy

    4. ???????

But seriously....... All the best Dana.... I'm sure you are thick skinned enough to take a little ribbing. :o
