Someone who just crawled from under a rock that dropped on him in the time when the sun was being developed in space?

This "new breed", is actually the kind of travellers that came in the first place to Thailand and other places that now got basically raped by mass tourism.

The "new breed" has actually even been looked at as being those weirdos who went off the beaten track in search for the real and true spirit of countries, and now suddenly some "highly educated" halfwit comes up with "a new breed"???

But if your going to risk it, why go with the suitcase? The scanners always catch that stuff, better to stick it up your bum and walk through the metal detector. But sooner or later Thailand will catch up and get the full body xray machine...

How many houses, flats, factories or any other kind of human made structures have a roof?

If ALL those roofs or roof tiles would be solar panels, you'd be able to power a ridiculously large amount of houses almost for FREE.

Can you imagine, if the total surface of ONLY all the rooftops in Bangkok would be mainly solar panels, the total energy supply coming from this would be impressive.

Don't say this is not possible because it would take too much work, people managed to build that whole city in no time, so covering the roofs is just a matter of getting started with it.

This is only one example of what is possible and the possibilities are endless, if you only want to use that blob inside your nutshell instead of letting it wrinkle away by watching tv and believe the popular media...

It's true that Had Rin is quite dangerous when the Fullmoon Party is going on, does it mean the Full Moon has to be banned? NO!

Instead of banning something, maybe make sure the corrupt police stops bugging people for the wrong things, but instead let them take care of the people, assure security on that beach during the party by checking that NOBODY can carry any weapons or drugs inside.

Where is the security who stops fights?

Where is the First Aid stands?

Why are there numerous of accidents, not only because of driving under influence, the road to Hadrin is a widow maker.

How come these speedbumps got removed from Hadrin some time ago?

How come the road through Ban Tai and many other places on this island allow people to speed up to sick top speeds on bikes and cars not designed for it?

The other parties around the island, and the list is long, try to organize their events as good as possible, taking care of their visitors and try to respect the rules as much as possible.

There are some exceptions, I'm not naming any, but most organizers do take care.

Then, saying you dream of an island without parties, it's sweet, but why did you come to a place that's known for it's parties to complain about it when you choose to be living in the middle of it? Just saying...

And still, there is plenty of nice, quiet areas where you can do yoga, read books, relax and so on.

So please, stop the rant and childish nonsense about the parties, specially for those who know nothing about what's going on here and instead open a constructive debate on what ALL parties involved can do to make the Fullmoon a safer event that brings a more positive look onto the island and less sad stories like we have had on the last two events for example.

It's a fact that there is a problem, and it is not really the parties that are unsafe, it is the police NOT doing their job.

When they can let a tourist pay 2000€ for smoking a harmless spliff, you see them run from far to catch him/her, but when a person in an emergency needs HELP, they don't give a xxxxxxx

The problem is not to search in the parties only, there is plenty of parties happening, by coincidence it is always in Had Rin where people get shot/stabbed/raped.

Look at the parties at other locations on the island, there they have some kind of security taking care of people, there is an occasional alcohol-related fight, but in most cases these issues get solved by the right people at the right place.

On the other hand, during a Fullmoon party, people need to pay 100 baht entry "to clean the beach" that makes minimum ONE MILLION baht every month to clean the beach??? Don't make me laugh, what happens to the other 800.000???? Why isn't there a professional security team TAKING CARE of guests????

But please don't call this island "death island" as all over Thailand people get shot at other touristic places, and to me it seems again and again for the same reasons, some punks that think they are the man, no police acting against them and a retarded approach to lower crime rates.

My mate and I will be doing a visarun in the start of feb.

We were thinking of doing a little tour around of a few days into some natural park close to the thai/burmese border.

We are coming from Koh Phangan, but don't want to be travelling too far up north to cross the border and pay a visit to Burma.

So, if there is any southern border, any information is most welcome.
