  1. Any time I've been there it was always quiet so never a problem with service. Always a waitress hovering nearby. As for the food, I let my missus do the ordering and she lets them know exactly what she wants, so again I couldn't complain.

And, as you say, stunning location, especially after dark.

What amazed me most about C&C was the rice.

It was so overcooked it was just one lump of stodge, which really surprised me, as Thais are very fussy when it comes to rice, and if you cant get cooking rice correct, then ..... !

The Miang Kham appetizer is lovely, and the Roast Duck Mussaman is also very good.

But every other dish I have tried has been very bland.

My last visit, we turned up at 5.30pm picked a seat with a glorious view of the sun setting, after 5 minutes I went in search of a waitress, and when I found one, was told that the staff didnt start work until 6pm.

Every year I try C&C hoping that its improved .

    Mantra is nice

  2. "the elect is 8 per unit and add another 1k for internet"

That part sounds like a rip-off to me. Both are way over the top, unless the internet is your own private ADSL link (it surely wont be).

I'm paying 1 month deposit on a 1 year rental, though I'm told that 2 or 3 months is common. But the agent has known me for the best part of a year so I suppose that counts for something.

Most agents I've come across ask for 2 months deposit. Private owners mostly ask for 1 month deposit. I had to pay 1.5 months where I am now. It can be negotiated.

Private owners tend to charge less so as not to scare off potential renters.

I have a rule never to pay more than government electricity rates but that's up to the individual. Perhaps in the OP's case it could be negotiated lower.

    I agree.

  3. That place has been a hot spot for drug dealing for a long time. Testing farang puts pressure on the management to stop the illicit backroom business (management knows dam_n well who the pushers are) or risk not having any customers. Lucifer's has to become more selective about which customers it allows inside.

    Evil

This happens once a year and a friend of mine who was there when this happened said NO farangs were tested.

This raid really has nothing to do with drugs

  4. The police at Soi 9 are fed up with the jet ski cases but since their rules are that it is a civil case for property damage unless threats are truly provable or personal injury is evident, either party can make a report for damage claims but they are normally requested to take it all to City Hall if no agreement can be reached between the parties. Late afternoon/early evening when City Hall is closed is thus an ideal time for the scammers.

The real Foreign Police Volunteers have strict instructions not to be involved as abuse and threats from both sides have occurred in the past as well as the risk of being thought to be getting remuneration from any party - and there are cases of dismissal for those who have been involved in any way. City Hall have recruited hundreds of their own police recently but powers of arrest and reporting etc. still lie with Soi 9 station and it remains to be seen if any City Hall officer patrolling helps in all this.

If you are serious then you are a lost cause really and no nothing.
