  1. You made also a number of considerations on the lifestyle of the members who advised you which need not necessarily apply to any or all of them and which are extremely rude to put it politely.

Tit for tat. If other people are going to be inconsiderate jackasses then I will respond with the same. And in this case I didn't even have to try: I just spoke my mind. With lots of truth in the words I wrote. Indeed it is very rude to attack someone's character like that. I did so deliberately. Really, screw you guys.

but if you feel the need to come on TV for advice, it means you have no idea how it takes place by yourself

That or it could skip the busy working of tracking down a suitable insurance company. Asking for advice doesn't make a person completely clueless. Another ridiculous gem from Thaivisa right there, though.

All we can say is "best of luck"!

Yeah only I know you guys don't really mean it.

The name of which will conveniently remain a secret, yes?

Think about the tone of this post compared to the tone I used in my original post. If you think I (or anyone else with some self respect) will help anyone out on here after the way I got berated you are completely delusional.

  2. You can live out here on tourist visas indefinitely anyway. Closing this "loop hole" just wastes everyone a lot of time - if they don't like traveling that is.

I am a bit shocked that anyone in this thread actually sees something wrong with younger guys living out here indefinitely. Do you really think most of them are a "drain" on Thailand? Almost all white folks I know living out here indeed are just moneyed up in some way, at least compared to Thai people. The super broke ones are always living here illegally anyway...

  3. Alright guys please stop responding saying it isn't worth it. You should not be applying your personal circumstances to that analysis. Truth is that successfully renting one motorbike for a Thai girl is the same thing as having a part time job. Does it make you feel like big men because that isn't that much money or something?

Also please stop suggesting that I tell my girlfriend to give up without even trying. That is pathetic, defeatist attitude for a person to have. I really hope none of you have/had kids because you'd be awful parents telling them to go through life like that.

thaivisa has pretty bad reputation and most of the replies here are concrete examples of why. I know I'm dealing with adults yet the forum overall has the same level of maturity you'd expect to find in a high school. Too many guys living here have pickled their brains with alcohol. And let all of that cheap sex really boost their ego.

Really, what kind of thing is it go to around telling people to not try and/or that they will fail. Especially when you are just speculating and don't even know: yeah, turns out you guys were all wrong. I've found a suitable insurance company.

I guess it is easy to tell others to not worry about money when you are living off their dime on a flawed social security and pension design that leaves younger generations out to dry.

  4. It will not be cost effective to do this legally with insurance that covers her liability and damage to the bike etc.

Can you explain this more? I don't see why insuring one bike would cost that much more.

Also she already has someone lined up that wants to rent it for a few months time at a monthly rate.

Any company doing bike rentals nearby will not be too pleased, although probably ignore one bike with a for rent sign.

Why does that matter. She is a Thai citizen. Isn't she allowed to legally rent out a bike or two? Allowing intimidation to dictate how you live your life is not a good way to go through life. Also probably helps her a lot that her dad is reasonably high up in the police force though since TIT.

Go instead to a bike rental place (or a few) and say you want to rent a bike and get all the info they provide, and then ask them if the bikes are insured. If any of them are, then those insurance places are the places you want to call.

Good idea. I'll definitely have her give this a try.

Sorry but rental insurance is not available for a single bike. Only possible for a rental company with multiple bikes.

Does that mean your company or all companies in general? I've rented from small time renters in the past and they always provided insurance - I insisted...

  5. Can someone suggest one to me please? This is for renting a motorbike out and not for personal use. My girlfriend hasn't been able to find it - she is the one renting the bike out. However I imagine there has to be some service that does this.

    Thanks in advance.

  6. My girlfriend wants to rent her motorbike out for a while to help with money. However I told her that she should get insurance. She called a couple of normal companies and they said if the bike is being rented out then the insurance doesn't cover it anymore. She couldn't figure out what company would cover this so I am posting here trying to help her figure this out.

  7. I wanted to update about my order with Thanni.com

The items have still not come in the mail and I have still not received a full refund. I have brought this up weekly with them and they say it is some problem with shipping.

So to add to the already awful experience I've had with them, it has taken them almost a month already to fulfil only a partial order.

If this order never comes through should I contact the police? At this point it seems like basic theft to me.

  8. I ordered parts for a computer from Thanni.com last monday. I ordered most parts a desk top computer typically would have except hard drive and video card. All parts were said to be in stock on their website. The site also says that orders will be processed within 1-2 days and I got the fastest shipping method which said to be 1-2 days as well. I did this because I wanted to have the computer for Friday - for business purposes. I even told them I was in a hurry and that not getting it on time would cost me money.

What ended up happening is that I ordered on a Monday and sent them the money. They did not respond until Thursday. They told me that they did not have most of the parts I had requested - just the case, CPU cooler, thermal paste and mouse/keyboard. They told me to substitute items for others on their website. I looked and saw that none were appropriate for my needs. I told them that I no longer wanted the computer, as I didn't have any use for these parts on their own.

Today (Saturday) they messaged me that they cannot cancel the items that have already "been prepared for shipment". That they will refund me the difference. This is an unreasonable policy when you expect someone to order a computer from your site. That means if you order from them and just one crucial component is not available, you'll end up with a useless computer. Another part of this process that was completely unacceptable was the lack of communication and the very long delay in service.

I would strongly suggest you order your computer parts from another company rather than dealing with the unethical business that is Thanni.com

Finally, if someone knows of any (legal or otherwise) recourse I might have I would greatly appreciate it.

  9. Can someone suggest a specific doctor located somewhere in Thailand? I definitely want a good doctor but also would like a reasonable price if possible. I contacted bumrungrad and the cost was about 70% of USA prices. Seems a bit high for Thailand so I am wondering if there is another suggestion.

  10. You guys have presented a lot of interesting ideas of what to look into. I just don't have the slightest idea to figure out which of the scenarios is actually the case... or how to go about contacting these people at all.

I wouldn't know how to do this in the USA either BTW.

  11. I am wondering what will happen to all of their old exercise equipment? I would like to pick some of it up if it would ever see an auction or anything like that.

Any ideas on how to figure this out are appreciated. Maybe I can talk to some type of lawyer if I have to?

  12. So she got gang raped and then she passed out.

This part of the story doesn't add up. Who "passes out" after being in that situation? Maybe if she was extremely drunk but then she would have passed out sometime before leaving the bar and those guys coming over.

I bet that part of the story changes to being drugged at some point, which just didn't happen.
