  1. Tailors are really good at copying things from pictures. Find a tailor with a heart to help a young man on a special day! 3000 baht is way too cheap. You are going to have to search low and high to find someone to make you a fashionable outfit for that much. Certainly not in Bangkok. Try the smaller towns of Thailand and just find someone who will do it for that. Show him the pictures of ones you like and make them copy it exactly for x amount. Make sure you are happy with the fabric ahead of time.

Someone needs to do you a favor, but since its prom, it could happen....

  2. Meth is not just a problem for the addict, its a problem for society as a whole. Look at what people are driven to for it!

My heart goes out to the couple's relatives and love ones. THIS IS A HORRIBLE TRAGEDY!

While I don't like the excesses of the "War on Drugs", I think that moniker is simply wrong. Drug addiction is a societal & mental health problem, I wish there was some strategy to prevent atrocities like this one. Its simply awful what they did. Reminds me of "In Cold Blood" by Truman Capote.

  3. Secretary of state, Hilary Clinton will visit Rajamangala stadium and it's evacuation center. Good choice!

Hope she will look also at the animal shelter and makeshift hospital.

Let me say a few words about the area.

If this area, (Ramkhamhaeng Uni, Stadium, Bangkapi (including Soi Mahatai) would have been flooded, we'd see waters up to three meters and more in some places. Some buildings would have completely submerged.

Thanks to the Governor, the army and the tireless efforts of big (often anonymous) spenders, patrons, the Red Cross and countless volunteers we haven't seen it, which otherwise would have been a humanitarian disaster like never before. jap.gif

I pray you stay dry!! jap.gif

  4. ... this is as watching a train wreck, in slow motion ... and billions of m3 of water still to pass ... we evacuated, then returned in the middle of last week.

... now believing only what we see and but half of what we hear, we are preparing to re-evacuate.

... our lives and businesses are suspended in a vacuum of freakish incompetence ... what could possibly sabotage the resources available in this modern age of technology and communication?

... this is all so ... absurd.

I am in the same situation: re-evacuate. The kind of information is freacky, unreliable and made by incompetents! When will we finally know the real situation? Is there anyone at FROC competent enough to tell the truth to the people? It is reaaly absurd...

I am in the same situation: re-evacuated for the 2nd time... the University my freinds work at is in the lowest lying area of BKK and floods regularly (ABAC). They are forcing all the teachers and staff to remain until the last possible moment. So much money and the students education at stake, I can't blame them for waiting until the last minute to evacuate... but its difficult for people's lives. I'm here in dry Phnom Penh and am securing residence for more than one professor.
