not sure where this story is supposed to direct my sympathy, to the relatives who couldn’t care more than to abandon the old sod and not be bothered to come and help him or the old sod who’s days are numbered and sounds like a lost cause... a turtle stuck on its back is more entitled to sympathy... these people are pathetic, purging them from the human gene pool might not be such a bad idea...

Just heard from a friend in police that he was fired promptly and will be prosecuted to the full extend of the law !
Maybe they will make an example out of this case... one can only hope.

The headline screams "racially motivated attack" which would suggest the attacker was not Asian. It will be interesting to see how this plays out as more information is revealed.
Antoine Watson ?
To everyone with knowledge of the US, this tells you exactly the race of the attacker...- 2

it was a never a question about getting it or not, but simply to flatten the curve to allow healthcare systems to manage... surprising some people still don't get it...

Did the Thai Police receive any previous complaints ?
The KPG Police refused the complaints about the rape on KT because KT is outside their jurisdiction
What is the difference between theft/robbery and rape in terms of jurisdiction ?

Few people can be as aggrevating as an arrogant woman who hasn't had sex for 3 years and is on her last menstruational period... I feep for the guy, what restraint it must have taken not to punch her again

What's with the white box over what I presume are handcufffs ?

A 74 year old former schoolmaster who likes to take little brown and yellow boys to his room for what can be presumed isn't English tutoring but probably seedy and likely advanced sexual use; suffers a violent death ?
I wonder if there is something wrong with me since I'm somewhere between complete disconcern (don't give a rat's ass) and some pleasure knowing that he finally got what he, a sick bastard, deserved...

Thailand was at war with France and for all relevant purposes an Axis force, they have every right to celebrate their own history, even some french douche bag is ignorant and expects the rest of the world to think like him...

Petty opportunistic theft is being punished peculiarly harsh by the TV peanut gallery... and the rhetoric, try and replace the word "farang" in the subject with "Thai" and see how it sounds... I think the most disgusting about this story is the way this story is being dealt with... For example, people who believe a 12 month prison sentence in Thailand is an appropriate response to petty opportunistic theft of a phone should be put under observation and possibly send through therapy, there is something wrong with them... more so than the pathetic scum who stole the phone... I have lost more phones in Thailand to theft than I like to remember, but theft is part of the human condition and not related to people being Thai, so would never say "nasty Thai thief" because the thief is Thai, I would say "nasty Taxi driver thief" since stealing from passengers reflects in those situations on the position of being a taxi driver, not a Thai person...

Just now, smedly said:doesn't mean it comes close to being right
there are some countries that also think that women should not go to school - drive cars etc etc, those particular countries are driven by religions were women are basically owned and treated like dogs
some of those countries males that believe they have a right to rape a schoolgirl on a bus
you can quote all the stuff you like from all around the world - it doesn't make it right, it is rather sickening to be honest
15 year old girls can have the physical appearance of a much older girl, calling it sicking says more about the person saying it than the person about which its being said... Had she been 10-12 there wouldn't have been any doubt... Objectively you don't know if the guy is a pedo or if he simply happened to be caught with a girl younger than she appered... For all we know, he could have been setup and refused to pay the bribe... So relax a bit and stop passing premature judgement...

15 is the legal age of consent in Scandinavia, and many other countries, and they can hardly be called backwards countries... 15 year olds are hardly children incapable of knowing what they are doing in situations like this. Cracking down on a foreigner with a 15 year old and declare it a success in the war against child exploitation is rather silly when so many girls of significant younger age are being seriously trafficked (kept in captivity) and used by Thai men throughout the country. To celebrate the capture of this guy and girl is rather pathetic and reminds most of a witch hunt where the actual nature of the crime is less important than the pleasure the audience gets from pointing fingers and making noise... Pathetic !

As much as I agree to the ineptitude of Thai Law Enforcement, the lack of cultural understanding among members of TV is perhaps more dumbfounding... You had access through more than 3 generations to structured education and civilised life, and yet lots here are as ignorant and belligerent as a chimpansee on rotten fruit...

Wouldn't be difficult, since most arrive via Air, and anyone rejected at immigration by regulations become the responsibility of the Airlines, the Airlines would be enticed to enforce the check for valid insurance at the same time they verify that the traveler has an exit ticket from Thailand.
Secondly, the description goes on implementing the compulsory insurance at the time of extension, which makes all the comments about chaos upon arrival to Thailand even more stupid.
However the key argument is that the airlines will be enforcing it, and the few entering Thailand which are tourists can easily be rejected at the border without hassle since they presumably would have legitimate helm to stay in the departing country...

I frequently use Thai Intl's Contact centre in Bangkok to change full fare tickets, and very rarely are their issues with getting through to English speaking staff within a few minutes, provided off course you know how to dial the right number and work your way through the menu.
I live in Singapore, but always call the Thai Contact Centre in Bangkok as they are 24/7, speak English and always managed to settle every issue I have had within satisfactorily.
However, if one is unlucky, I have several friends who have used AirHelp with success, a startup focused specifically on assisting people with getting the correct refunds or compensations.

Maybe the family wants a "real" autopsy made to rule out that he was killed...

Try to ask some older thai friends about it, its a fascinating story involving deceit, betrayal, murder, spells and curses... All I can say is that the place is put under a very powerful curse by someone who were betrayed in a business dealing during its early days... hahahaha... Apparently same story about the Intercontinental... #ThisIsThailand

the "funny" thing is that this could have happened everywhere in the world, but only in Thailand you have such a prevalent combination of arrogance and stupidity which makes things like this so predictable...

make them say sorry and let them go,they are only teens.
in Singapore, zero tolerance for this kind of behaviors has led to almost no violent crime... you are suggesting 99% tolerance will make the problem stop ? are you for real ?

"Tech Student", where I come from it's to a certain degree a revered status since it means you are generally good with technology, math and likely will proceed to engineering... I suppose in Thailand it means that you will be vulcanizing tires or working as an operator in a Canon factory production line judging by the aptitude of stupidity among these kids ?

traveling without insurance is a calculated risk, it's impossible to even book a flight now with most airlines without being warned about this and every travel agent will make an effort to sell you one, so there is no way I will buy the assumption that this lady traveled unaware that she needed it, particularly given her condition at the time of departure... and off course Thailand or any country's healthcare, medical and emergency services be stuck with the bill of mischievous travelers who gamble the risk of needing an insurance with the cost of getting one...
you lay in the bed you make yourself, I feel sorry for the remaining sisters having to live with the partial guilt that they should have stopped her from gambling on the insurance and eventually not having the means to bail her out...
if you can't get insured for travels to South East Asia, you have to settle for less exotic destinations, thats just life, people have to deal with it, it's not a ban on travel, you can still travel anywhere the laws allow you, but it will be at your own risk, just like this lady, who unfortunately ended up with the short string...
