I went to a temple in the sticks with the missus and we were walking down a long narrow road towards the temple when a baby boy about 2 yo was crying hysterically, as we approached his shack he was screaming more and more then as we got to his shack he looked at me while whaling and suddenly stopped dead quiet, his mother was saying "look Falang" "sow wow, falang ma" he was dead quiet looking at me and I looked back at him, then just for the hell of it I shouted "BOOOOO" and off he went again in a rage, his mother was giving me some evil's 555555

Well how did the venture go?

I have heard it takes 3 months to get a marriage visa or a visitor sorted is that true as I have also heard some forum members say it only takes less than a week?

As far as I am aware it takes anything betwen 4 to 12 weeks depending on how busy they are.

But I think from reading other peoples responses it takes roughly 8 weeks as the application has to get sent to Ireland from Thailand first via KL.

And I think it takes roughly 4 weeks from the Irish end of things to go over it and send back to Bkk.

I'm probably wrong as usual but thats what I think :-)

Or proabably a better way to put it is does anything need to be hand written or is everything ok to be typed ?

I am looking for advice regarding a spouse visa for Ireland and if you guys think I would get one approved.

Ok I know my fiance now since last May 2011.

I have been to Thailand 3 times last year 3 weeks in May, 2 weeks in July/August and 2 weeks in October

We got engaged recently and we will be getting married in March :-)

I have researched exstensively about the visa application process for Ireland and I think I am a border line case for approval/decline.

Going by a checklist provided by robio7 I have the following..........

Application form (fill in online, and then print it out) we will do this together in Thailand when i'm there.

Letter of Invitation from Me (1page)

Letter from me confirming financial support and how i can do it (1 page)

Letter of out relationship from me (1 paragraph per visit, how and when we met etc and why we want this visit visa)

Letter by GF about our relationship (we are together 2 years and wrote a paragraph on each visit to Thailand, also spoke about how we contact each other i.e. phone call)

10 photos of us together copy and pasted onto 3 a4 pages

Phone call history from my phone about 30pages

My utility bill to prove address

Letter from my job confirming my position and permanent employment

My payslips (2 months)

Current p60

My fiance is not employed and has been out of employment for over 6 months.

My fiance has no bank statements or bank account.

My past itineraries from flights I made when visiting her in Thailand

I have no offical reciepts from past hotels but I have emails confirming my hotel bookings from previous trips.

Photocopy of my passport + every page stamped form my visits to Thailand

Gf's 3 passport sized photos

Her passport

My 6 month bank statement - i have about 2 grand saved in it. (any lump sums should be explained as they wont except them otherwise).

World medical/travel insurance

I also have been sending on average 5000b about 140euro per week since November with western union I have statenment from them to provide.

All in all there will be about 50 pages to this application as there is many regarding phone history.

It will be presented in a folder all secytions clearly marked.

My first saved emails go back as far as August 9th 2011 as we did not save any previous to this because we didn't know we would be going down this road.

My mum owns the house were we will be staying and I will have a letter of invitation form her stating my fiance can stay free of rent and bills and food will be provided, also I pay my mum 100euro a week to stay in her house she will also state I can live rent,bill and food free until we get money behind us and move out........we can stay there as long as we want.

We mainly contacted each other through facebook and I have no phone records until November as I have a pay as you go vodafone phone and they don't supply a detailed statement of my calls as it is not a bill phone.

But I also now have tesco mobile and have been using them since november and they keep all the records.

I am very skeptical about this application and was wondering if you think it will be succesful or do you think I would be better to wait for another 6 months or so?

It kills us to be apart now and we probably are rushing it a bit but I think we will try anyway.

Does anyone know if you get married in Thailand does your wifes name go on the thai marraige cert with her new surname?

Eg

If your wife is called nat chervraytappia will she become nat Smith(say)

And will this be on the marraige cert?

Just curios guys..............do Thai nationalists have to do any english exams or anything if they are applying to settle in Ireland?

Believe me I know plenty about the points you are making, I'm not worried at all.

I know of countless stories about BG's and honesty but some times every now and then you just gotta take a chance, sure you only live once(that I know of ha).

Just 2 questions

If I apply for a year settlement visa can she work in Ireland while here?

And does anyone know how she can get a passport in Pattaya or Buriram instead of going to bkk?

Again though I am not in love or anything like that and she is going back to her family home with the mosquito's and the chicken's haha, she told me this 6 months ago when we first met that she was out of Pattaya from December 1st and every other time I mentioned it she was adamant she was leaving December 1, TBH I don't mind either way what she does I am only trying to bring her here for a month or so for a holiday that's all.

I know it would be a hell of a lot cheaper for me to go Thailand and that but I want a holiday then come back here and work for more savings while she is here.

I would like to add that obviously I would prefer to spend more time in Thailand but financially not possible at the moment so that's why I am looking into bringing her over here for a holiday as I could work here too and get a few spondoolaks in as well.

if you have your brother do it and he has not made trips to Thailand then how is he going to explain how he knows her ?

As others have said you do not want her to visit in Winter anyway, she will not have fun and she will start to hate you and Ireland, its just too cold for her.......

True, but I was just curious if I could say she was coming to see me and as I haven't really got much saving's could I use my brother as a Guarantor by showing his bank statements so she won't be a burden to the state.............just curious is all I won't be doing it anyway.

i am glad you are taking some of the advice given to you,what y have posted above is what she definately needs,but you say she has no job or money,it took me over 3years to get to know my wife before i committed to anything,so i also has been there done that and got the t-shirt in fact before i met my wife i had a box full,so i know what i am talking about,is it southern ire,or northen ire.you live.but please dont think i am trying to ridacule you i am not,i will also help y if you are prepared to take the advice given to y.i did say 10yrs.ago i would never help someone again after giving him all the do's and dont's,his family was very close freinds with my wife,but what did he do,didnt listern and ended up in prison in thailand and that is one place you dont want to go.my wife had to get her family to get him out and he never bought her so much as a box of chocs.so what has already been said tread carefully.good luck.

I am genuinely gonna give this a shot as stated we only know each other 6 months or so, we do talk every day and get on really well so it is just what I said I only want to take her here for a holiday and show her my country.

I have contemplated scrapping the hole idea and just go there for a month at a time but also I would like to bring her here to see my country and also see how the relationship goes.

I know it is going to be extremely difficult and time consuming and there is lots and lots to do to get a successful visa application, but thats why I'm here.

ok there seems to be some concerns here.

Firstly I posted that she was a BG because I wanted to be completely honest and and to find out if it is harder for a BG to get a Visa or if they are treated the same, I was not expecting the responses I got about that situation at all.

Secondly Just to clarify, I am very wise about what goes on in daily life in Thailand especially Pattaya so I am not been fooled in any way by TGF.

I am not blinded by love or anything like that actually the opposite I am not in love with this girl I would just like to bring her to my country for a little holiday......thats all nothing complicated about that no hidden agenda just like to have her see Ireland with me.

I do not sponsor this girl at all. she has finished working bar now and has gone home to Buriram where she lives with her mother and is currently looking for work.............don't know why I even had to say anything about any of that but seems some people need to know instead of just JUDGING me!

So back to the important thing.

I was basically going to apply for the Visa start of January and go there in Feb for a month and come back together I now know that is very very unlikely because of my savings. I was going to get a print out of my savings which would be my air fare and spending money which would be around 3-4k for my feb trip but when I print out my bank statement it would be in the account.

But I now realize I have to give my bank account statement when applying so it would not be in my account at that time.

So I have decided just to save save save and as soon as I have enough saved I will then go ahead with the Visa application.

TBH i was never even going to Log in again because in general people deal with things on thier 1st impressions and experiences and mine as you know was not pleasant.

as you say in your first line acheiving the dream on what you have said your going to give it more time[a lot] you need to show your financially better off than you have said.there is days if not weeks of info on tv so you had better start reading up on posts,in the meantime you can only dream.good luck

This is my first post on this forum and have to say its great with tonnes of information about achieving the dream :-)

Anyway I was looking for info on getting a friend to come for a holiday in Ireland.

I have my check list and will be filling out the application myself for my first try and will not be using a Visa agency.

Right well basically I have been seeing a girl for about 6-61/2 months , I have been there 3 times in this time, the first time we spent the last 4 days together I went back we spent 2 weeks together and I'm just back again from a 15 day trip.

I know I can prove the genuine relationship part I have emails, phone calls, photo's etc;

I plan on going back in February for 3 weeks and hope to return to Ireland with herself :-)

Now she has been working as a BG for the past 6months but this has just stopped and she will go back to her village for the for seeable future to get a job back home and move back in with family.

She has no bank account. No passport(yet) and will have no payslips either.

When I go back in February I plan on meeting her in BKK and going to Bangkok to stay for a few days while we apply for passport(is this a long procedure and what exactly does she need to get one) so we can then go to the consulate in person and apply for the VV..

Now the big problem for me at the moment is I only started working full time recently even though I have been with the same company for 6 years so I don't have much saving's at all although my bank account shows lots of monthly transactions maybe 1,500 to 2,000euro's worth.

She does not have a bank account do you think I should get her to open one? Can I open an Irish one for her or does it have to be Thai? Or if I explain on the Visa application she has none and I will be supporting her is this ok?

I have asked advice from a Visa Agent and he said I need at least 3k in my account as savings before I should apply as it is likely I will be refused with only 500 saved.

If this is the fact then I intend not purchasing my ticket for my next trip until a day before I go that way with holiday spending money I could have the 3k in the account when I get a printout before I go on my next trip and the account would look good for the application?

The fact that she was a BG does this effect the application?
