I sure hope the Egyptians charge me double the next time I'm there to see the Pyramids. That could be one thing they could learn from the Thais.

Anyone remember the tourists the police kidnapped from the airport a few years ago?
It is incredible how this sort of thing happens, and usually without any recourse.

I'm with most of you, the day a teacher lays a hand on my kid, let alone completely assaults him, I will physically destroy that teacher to the point of him / her eating through a straw for the rest of their wretched life. I would gladly cash them out or even spend time in jail knowing I disabled such a human from ever abusing a child again.

In the blood tests at that school, he said, many students and their parents had witnessed the medical team reusing the same syringe several times,
What more can you say after that? This idiots watch them re-use the needles and just let them keep doing it. Unreal.
The name of the company is not identified by the DSI.
Two cheers for Thailand's ridiculous libel / slander laws. The wealthy win again.

Can't help but wonder what the fate of the seized elephants will be.
I'm afraid we all know their fate. The police and government officials have no concern for the well being of these majestic animals, other than how to profit from them.

We are also getting a lot of blocked sites and long hang ups while trying to load others. Keep an eye on the status area of the browser, you will probably see some interesting stuff going on there, as it looks like it's being re-routed through some other gov or official sites.
I have no doubt that the same people who want to put an end to Facebook LIKEs that do not favor them, would try to monitor the entire internet looking for anything they could arrest someone for. Not to mention, they are already monitoring LINE for the same reason. This place is going to be Junta controlled before it's all over.

Getting Chinese visa's is becoming more difficult, more documents each.
Recently obtained a vis in Chiang Mai, need tickets, hotel reseravations etc
Did you need to show proof of health insurance?
My last trip to China they didn't ask for anything at all, but that was a couple of years ago.

How exactly will this stop them from racing? I think we all know that no one is going to be watching these and chasing down kids who leave their house.

On the other hand, if the SRT manages to not have another derailment/accident within the next thirty days, this will be declared a great success.
And such success will increase tourism by at least 4 million in 2014.

We could take a few, but I think they have over 50 now with the new pups. It's some bizarre dysfunction I think, like pet hoarding.
My grumpy old Thai neighbor says he's going poisoning them and is at the poor house every day fighting with them about the mess the dogs make. It's funny to watch him get worked up. He's your typical old Chinese / Thai man who is grumpy 24/7. Two of the poor shacks built a fence around their property and then lock the dogs out at night when they sleep. Day time comes, gate is open and the dogs are let in. But that's like 50 or so dogs on our street every night making noise and ripping stuff up, it's insane. If I didn't know better I would think they were running a bootleg dog shelter.
Lick clockwork, one of the dogs crawls through a neighbors fence around dawn and gets stuck. The dog lets out the most God awful howl you have ever heard in your life, and he does it until someone, usually the wife of the grumpy old man, gets up and helps him out of the fence and beats it with a stick. The dog keeps going back, keeps getting stuck, and keeps getting beat. I have a feeling that one is going to be the first one to go and I'm surprised he's lasted this long with all the horrible noise it makes when it gets stuck.
I guess it could be worse, they could be hoarding pigs.
Dont worry the recently featured "Monk" has a way with dogs.
I missed that one, what did the monk do to a dog? Or maybe it's best I don't know.

I think the racism only exist in the minds of a portion of the TV population, I have lived in a Thai village for 8 years and have not seen any of the type of racism that is so prevalent in the west. Most of it comes from expats believing they should have all the rights that a Thai has or those of his native country.
I find the Thai people far less race conscious as people in the west. Yes I have noticed that white skin on a Thai women is attractive here and that many women think that is so also. But those are the perception of people in what is beautiful to them in their country. I have not seen the overt racism that I saw in the States, which is a very different type of racism of any that may or may not exist in Thailand.
I believe if you respect Thailand and its population, you will in turn be respected, if you lack that respect of the country and its people you deserve the treatment that you believe you get.
If you are not part of the solution, then you are part of the problem.
Meanwhile in reality, in many areas they sing songs about "American negros" and makes fun of them and their dark skin. They tell their children stories about "negros" who will eat them if they misbehave. Racism among Thais is off the charts. Does that mean all of them are racist, of course not. But a lot of them are. Ask your Thai partner about the songs and stories, they all know them.
Not sure how you managed to spend 8 years in a village and not notice it, but kudos to you and those around you. All you usually have to do is open your ears and understand what they are saying.

Good luck with that. We'll be talking about the same thing and new accidents 5 years from now, with zero changes made.

cause, like everyone else, they like dogs? and probably cant afford vet care, and probably lacking major education for acceptable (to you) practices for pets... so if it really bothers, then maybe offerring to take in a few for the operation, shots and a shot of ivermectin might help...

Any bottles or machetes used? If not, I'm very disappointed.

Sounds expensive. They must have sent a farang to do the buying.

Apart from who can buy what and where, My point is that there ARE some greedy foreigners that cannot stop and be content here. I can sympathize a little with the concern about the LAND GRABBERS. I say stop their antics because it;s people like them that are irritating Thai people.
For starters Thai start to put the foot down for ALL, and make things more bad for us.
With any chance at all the last thing we need is Foreign land grabbers, I have always said it would not hurt to have a 40x40 m. plot Maximum, that's all you need for a decent house, nothing more and restricted to 1 only. Thai is not giving much away, it stops the stealing element, and cuts out a % of the homeless who got thrown out.
I cannot stand greedy people who are never content with ENOUGH, whether they are Thai or foreigner. The world is a bit unfair on it's land ownership laws, here yes they are stingy, condo's are on land, (shared) ???
Stop the greedy, let the long stay/live here type have that 40x40 meters.
Problem: Foreigners are buying too much land. Thais are getting upset.
Solution: Thais stop selling so much land to foreigners.
See how easy that is?
Oh, but here is the rub.... it's the local land owners who are the true greedy ones. They can not resit selling their land so they can run out and by a new D-Max 4 door truck, and fill their necks and wrists with gold and amulets so they can na yai around the village.

most number of children as well
Very true. However, kids I can understand given their situation, but having so many dogs are just unnecessary no matter how you try to look at it.

I live in a generally well to do area now, but there are 3 "shacks" who seem to be squatting on the land they are on. All the dogs in the neighborhood are well behaved, each house having one or two, except those belonging to the squatters. Not only do they have no less than 50 dogs, but they turn them loose on the streets to terrorize everyone in the neighborhood, ripping through garbage, crapping everywhere, howling 24/7, and chasing every bike that drives by, and every person walking by.
Today I go out and there are a handful of little newborn puppies running around in front of one of the shacks, and I'm thinking, what is wrong with these people? This is the 3rd place I've lived in Thailand were the poorest in the area had all the dogs from hell. These people literally live in shacks and look like they belong in a refugee camp, but they raise packs of street dogs and let them breed. I don't get it. My Thai partner says it's a karma thing, but I don't buy that. All the other Thais around us only have one or two dogs at most.
Assuming there is a real reason other than they are pet hoarders, does anyone know why those who can hardly feed themselves always have an army of wild dogs?

Get an attorney (may have to look around for the right one). It's expensive, but you can pay to be removed from the blacklist. I know this for a 100% fact.

Perhaps they should focus on keeping the current trains on the tracks. THREE accidents in a single month.

Of course they were not, it was the fault of foreigners.
