Domestic Thai travel is low because a large slice of the population are trying to earn a living after the shut-down.

All the freebies are being taken by civil servants who get the time to go and enjoy time away from the government sponsored jobs.

i agree, my wife and all her friends are just doing that, all civil servants. And getting 50% discounts everywhere.

If Thailand is having a problem with their neighbours, like Burma, Cambodia, then the trucks

coming from those countries should have to just come to the border, unhook their trailers

and have a Thai truck cab, hook onto that trailer to deliver it to the destination. That way if the Burmese or Cambodia driver is infected, they have to stay in their truck or at least the border until

a trailer from Thailand is ready to be hauled back into their country. It may be time consuming,

but if Thailand wants to stay safe, just do it. It also seems that people are flying on

long flights and arriving with the virus, are they being checked efficiently at the

departure point or not. Just wondering why Thais are coming back and found out to be

    infected?

    Geezer

because thais coming back to thailand, on planes or otherwise dont need a covid test or insurance, so go figure, they infect all others on the plane who were covid free with their tests. it boggles the mind .

You are missing the point and basically just stating the "bleeding' obvious"

Yes - As I said before the vessel should not have set saiil

Yes these vessels are portly maintained and as you already admit you don't understand - the process of "certification" will be subject to a Thai way of doing things.

However the problem with the vessel will not be overloading - it is unlikely that th vehicles on board would be sufficient for that.

What is certain though is that RO-RO ferries are INHERENTLY dodgy in rough seas.

Those in charge are fully aware of how quickly the sea can change and of conditions on that crossing, they are also aware of the dangers if water is shipped on deck.

But the point is once that has happened the ship will inevitably sink or more likely capsize.

Speed of the Estonia or whatever are irelvent to this issue - if you want to look at something similar, look and the spirit of free Enterprise Townsend/Tporrensen disaster for something with similar causes.

Haha ! I wonder how many expats out there will be wondering what to do with the 10 boxes of Chang and dozen bottles or Hong Thong whiskey they bought yesterday from the local momma & poppa shop, knowing they can go to Makro on Sunday and buy as much Thatchers Cider and Stella as they want ?

I can see a lot of booze donations coming over the next few days, the security guard outside my condo is going to love me ! Haha !

I like chang, been drinking it for 14 years and guess what? Im still here. Got 5 boxes today.

I buy a large 1kg block of cheddar cheese and at least 2 packs of chili pork sausages which i cannot get anywhere here plus other things on top and Makro is slightly cheaper and better quality than Tesco .

Why cant you go to makro in another province? I drove from bangkok to sakon nakhon and then back to bkk 2 days later. That was last weekend .Not got checked anywhere.no roadblock , nothing. So its easy to travel if u have to.

Strange. I live in a village 20kms east of Sakon Nakhon and enjoy very clean air. There's very little crop burning around here and, thankfully no sugarcane. I walk in the countryside every morning so I am very conscious of the air quality.

It is very rare for me to make a negative comment on the air quality and it's usually in the morning when cooking fires are burning, which quickly clears. I wonder what it is that causes the problem in your area.

same here, have a home in sakon, never had problems with air.

And at the same time, Thailand has chosen to not make their infected numbers public anymore, until on the 7th of Feb. Amazing!!!!!

So many Thai people will think the situation is under control, due to the number 14 being static for days. This will spread the virus even more. For sure Thailand will be facing not only international pressure, but also a huge and uncontrollable outbreak in their cities. Once they finally report their numbers, then prepare for a HUGE number.

Well done Thailand. You screwed up again!

can you send me a link to this article pls if it is in English. would love to read this. why on earth would they do smthing so daft?? I do believe you, just want to read it.thxx

As of 1 January 2020, the population of Thailand was estimated to be 69,131,183 people.

    Let's see, check my math...

    8/69,131,183*100=

    0.0000115722
% chance of getting Coronavirus, assuming equal chance.

Of course, we know that people who are alcoholic drug addicts who take other hard drugs (yes, alcohol is a hard drug) such as methamphetamine or opiods, eat a predominantly Western diet and don't exercise and don't get enough sleep at night are more susceptible to catching Coronavirus, because compromised immune system.

You Pataya Punters have every reason to be concerned and rightly so! ????

what a totally silly statement. take sm more medecines dude.

& they all need fertilisers to grow in a rice field and will die in the wet season, they also need water, which in lowland rice paddies is not available in the dry season.

correct, but don't let the facts stand in the way of all the so called experts( you know who you are) blame everything on the farmers. you would soon cry like babies if your bkk supermarkets were empty of produce. then it would be , why do these lazy farmers don't work??? ohh the irony.

Almost as embarrassing as it was for Keir Starmer MP, who was Director of Prosecutions at the UK's Crown Prosecution Service back in 2008 when the latest London Bridge stabber apparently got on the fast-track to early release due to some alleged screening oversight.

nothing to do with him, labor changed the law so that all prisoners automatically only serve half their sentence, even terrorists, the conservatives changed that law in 2012, but because the stabber was convicted before  2012, it did not apply to him

ermmm you've lost the plot. ..this is about SECOND hand smoke in you're home. Drinking   a beer at home didn't kill anyone around me

    comprehension skills much?

ermmmm I think you lost the plot, more people on earth get killed by actions of drunks, who never drank themselves than from passive smoking. home violence, road deaths, etc , so your argument and accusations of somebody has lost the plot are sadly lost on you. and by the way I do not smoke.

comprehensions skill not much me thinks? what you think?
