  1. There's been a lot of talk about foreign partners wanting to return to Thailand to be with their families and the government allowing them in certain circumstances to do so. I'm all for that but what about the foreigners stuck here since March that need to get back to their home country so they can return to work to sustain their family here? I'm in the later category and although I was and am happy to be here with my kids it's no fun now as my saving have but all run out. So as the Thai government can hardly support their own people how would i expect them to look after mine.

I can understand the reluctance to stop incoming flights but what about outgoing flights? Surely there are flight going out and some way to leave.

I have had 2 flights cancelled since March, the most recent was for the 1st of July with Turkish airlines to Dublin, The airline now say they will be flying again on the 18th of July but I have little faith in that happening.

So can anyone here on TV give a realistic answer

    Regards

  2. This what you do!

    1. Go to Laos and obtain a two entry (double) tourist visa from one of the Thai Consulates.

    2. Enter Thailand (using the first of the two entries allowed by the visa) You will be given permission to stay for 60 days

    3. Toward the end of the 60 days apply for a 30 day extension at a Thai immigration office .

    4. When approaching the end of the 30 day extension LEAVE Thailand ! (ie enter another country)

    5. Return to Thailand (using the 2nd entry permitted by the visa) You will be given permission to stay for 60 days

    6. Toward the end of the 60 days apply for a 30 day extension at a Thai immigration office .
7 When approaching the end of the 30 day extension LEAVE Thailand !

OK so on the 15th Feb I can go to Maynmar and get the 2nd entry permitted by the visa?

  3. You will get a 2 entry tourist visa (2000 baht) that will be valid for 3 months. You extend the 1st entry at immigration for 30 days and then leave and re-enter the country using the 2nd entry before the enter before date on the visa and then extend that 60 day entry for 30 days. This gives a total stay of about 6 months.

Sorry about this but still confused . The last visa I got was from vientaine and it is a double entry visa I extended it at Imagration after 60 day for 30 days, Do I have to go to Laos to get a new double entry visa or where can I go ? Cab I go to Kanchanaburi ir Rayong? and get it extendedf there?

  4. Thanks for all your help, Am I right in thinking that I have my visa stamped till the 15th of Feb Sunday but my visa says the 16th .I'm going to go Vientiane but if I go on the train I will have to go Saturday cos I will have an overstay cos the train that goes Sunday evening doesn't get in till the Monday morning 16th.

Also when you say for the 6 months tourist visa I have to leave the country is it ok to go Rayong and go across to Myanmar to get the stamp?

How much does a work permit cost?

  5. That's what I thought, When I was in Vientiane 3 months ago the guys outside that do the paper work for you said for 5000 baht they would get a tourist visa for me for six months, I didn't go for that thought it was doggy,

Double entry tourist visa (six months after extensions) cost Bt 2,000 directly applied at the consular section.

Ok so just finally what does that mean? I pay 5000 baht and then do extensions for six months at 2000 baht a month??

You would require documentation from your employer and a Work Permit to obtain a 'B' visa.

Judging from your posts it would seem the best you possibly obtain from Penang would be a single entry tourist visa.

I have a company that I opened a few years ago in Bangkok but haven't used in in years cos I didn't keep up the maintenance payments so I'm not sure if I can use that and I don't have a work permit.

You will not get a non-b visa at any nearby location without a work permit application approval letter and company paperwork.

To get a multiple entry non-b in Penang you need a work permit with at least 8 months of validity.

Ok Thanks ,,so where can I go then? How do you get the Non Imm B in the first place ,,I remember a few years ago you could get it before the WP

  8. A visa exempt entry is what you get on entry if you don't have a visa.

You will only get a 15 day entry at a border crossing unless you are from a G7 country that gets a 30 day entry.

Ok Cheers for that ,,Does Ireland qualify as a G& country ,,tried to look it up online but difficult to say

Ireland is not a G7 country. You will only get a 15 day entry but you can extend that entry for 30 days at an immigration office.

OK thanks for that. I'm considering going to Penang for a a One Year Multiple Entry Non Immigrant Visa Category “B” (Business) visa. My passport is stamped to the 15th of February (Sunday). Do I have to go on Friday or will Sunday the 15th be OK? And do you know how much this visa will cost me down there?
