  1. Hi all...

We applied for a loan at said bank. Approved all well and good.

When they eventually got the 'approval' notice to us the figures look like this:

    loan: 4.6m

    period: 360 months

    monthly payment: 34.2k

(Plus theres a 90k additional loan they add in for credit insurance and something else - 'bragun addipai'. - if anyone can explain these, please do).

The problem I have is that every loan calculator I've run comes up with a different set of numbers. Even bkk bank's own,

    EG:

    30,603.9 7pc 30y 4,600,000

    35,663.8 7pc 20y 4,600,000

whereby a 35k monthly payment should be paid off in 20 years, not 30; and a 30 year repayment would cost closer to 30.6k per month.

    OR

    5,260,764 7pc 30 y 35,000

whereby paying off 35k would actually give a loan amount of 5.25m

Anyone able to explain the discrepancies here? Thanks.

  2. He told me that tomorrow evening they will be offering a buffet of Turkish - or as he explained with a smile, what we call "Turkish/Greek", and there is indeed often little difference between the two cuisines - dishes, some fifteen or so items, if I remember correctly.

Now if they did a buffet this could work. Such cuisine requires having a bunch of dishes to nip and pick at... dining for 3 or 4 just doesnt justify ordering as much as is required to get a good sampling happening. Thats why Greeek Easters are fantastic.

  3. Got given this recently, and really only want to turn it into an iTouche ... ie dont need to use the phone function. Does that still require jailbreaking??

I'm thinking about doing this myself, as the guy who gave it to me wasted 3 days of his life dicking around with the phone repair shops, with no joy.

Plenty of jailbrieaking turorials around, but what about just un-bricking the thing??

  4. Do your research on Waldorf education... we checked out the Thai one once and decided against it - but we had admittedly not done any research and only found out later about some the more esoteric beliefs of the founder.

There's quite a few kindergartens / schools dedicated to learning through playing. I'd definitely check out the children's garden and Tong Kla. A friend of ours goes to the latter and they love it... and they advertise that they're mostly about playing.

Well, I had my two daughters in Tonkla and found exacly the opposite. It was not about playing but rather standing in line, waiting a lot, singing american songs and sitting on the floor on a star with your number. Sorry, but do not fall for the slick advertising. Most private Thai schools are run for profit.....just like a chicken farm. This was just a chicken farm with a really nice playground (which was little used due to fear of a PR damaging injury) and a pool....

Interesting, where did you opt for instead?

  5. (skipped to end of thread... ) but...

Some 'Seven's' seem to only stock Chang Export and Heineken cans now ... like all their can shelves are full with these two only. Annoying when you've been drinking something else and you intend to pick up a few take-aways for Ron.

  6. Just seeking latest thoughts and opinions about Sarasas. Our little one is in pre-school, doing well at a little nursery thats quite convenient. But there's not that many kids there, and I'm concerned she'll get more 'nursery/day-care' treatment than school treatment. So we're looking around and we think Sarasas best suits our needs ...

So if people have some pro's and cons for the place, I'd like to hear them. - I hear traffic getting in and out can be pretty bad??

(BTW, this will probably just be for a year as we'll be moving and mum's pretty keen on her going to Regina the following year - perhaps staying put at the current nursery would be better than changing schools twice? - whats current thinking on this??)

    Thanks for your input.

  7. I have room at my place to park the motorbike but it takes up space that I would prefer to have free

    I am confusing.

What is it your wanting to keep free for? Around there, you dont wanna leave much in the open. Why leave your bike somewhere you wont see it everytime you leave your building?

  8. Joeed, keep us posted. I am in the same position. Dislike the poor ipod integration and lack of usb. My stereo guy tells me he is about to get a usb 'adaptor' that will plug in to the existing unit, but needs to be operated via remote control, and will cost around 10k.

I will hold off on that one until you report back, will be very interested in hearing all options you come up with.
