  1. Here in the U.S., the media focus so overwhelmingly on the negative that people outside of an area are left with exaggerated images of the dangers present in that area.

I note that because I am wondering if the same is true there in Pattaya. As I monitor the info posted here at TV, I see a parade of items about assaults such as this one. I can't help but wonder about the threat level perceived by those of you who live there.

Is it, in fact, unsafe to walk the streets of Pattaya alone, at night, these days? Or are incidents like this extremely rare, and not something that should deter a man from such activities. (It is, of course, never adviseable, in any country or location, for a woman to do so.)

Your experiences and frank opinions are welcomed.

anyone who lives here aint gonna be down soi six at 11.30pm if they are they deserve all they get.?67 he could be 17 and be mugged in soi sex at 11.30 at night.pattaya or any other resort area in thailand is still safer than any other place ive ever been on holiday.down town in any american city is a no go area as well as many european citys.probably more people mugged in disney world in a month than pattaya in a year.can anyone remember the last tourist to be shot for a wallet [on the street]?in pattaya.the place is safe as houses even for you yanks but to be on the safe side pretend your from canada!.

  2. Biggest low season ever for me thank you. :D (its quiet this week though)

There are loads of people here, BUT they are'nt here for beer bars or gogo's :D

was in blues last night for first time with 2 friends here on holiday they loved the music and atmosphere, but had to leave after one drink,no problem price wise but they do expect the real mcoy.i no this happens in go go bars suprised it did in yours?what it says on the bottle aint allways whats in it!

    Explain more on this please.

I stock 2 different kinds of Vodka, Gin etc as most bars do. BUT unless you order Schmirnoff or Gordans etc then you will get other brand which is widely used by ALL drinks suppliers. If a different brand is sold then it is tasted by me first BEFORE it goes on the shelf, if it tastes alot different then it does'nt go on sale.

The only problem i've had recently is the bartender serving white rum thinking its the same as Bacardi, he's been told its not the same but he is'nt the brightest of guys.

    Explain more :o

ordered 2 bacardi cokes&1vodka coke, the vodka i drank but i would,nt know a smirnoff from a stoli with coke in it but bacardi--- it aint hard, the white rum is <deleted> and if the barman dont know the difference maybe he should get a job in the band, maybe you could check if hes putting white rum in the bacardi bottle?whats the white rum for anyway surely people dont drink it?next time will be more specific when ordering. cheers

    Problem solved Benson :D

The ****ing idiot gave you white rum instead of Bacardi :D

I went to the club today after reading your post and called in one of my managers, A genuine mistake. Offending white rum is now with him at his home (i made him take it out of the club :D )

apologies and please make yourself known to me if you come in again so I can buy you a proper bacardi :D

Sounds like a very fair offer :D

thanks dave will certainly be back not sure when,!will tell my friends of your rapid response.cheers.ps is that bird on the door married?

Benson, Ive never met Dave, and have only been to the BF once in the 5 years i have lived here, but from reading his posts , he seems to me to be a pretty reasonable sort of guy.

If you have a greivance with the BF or Dave a public forum like this is not the place to air it. I would suggest that you take it up with him personally.

Most posters on here if they choose have annomity, and for all we know you could be a competiter, a jellous failed bar owner, or just a pot stirrer, and it doest give your complaint much credability at all.

for all i know you could be his best mate?been here long enough to realise complaing in a bar is not a good idea, just thought if dave didnt know id let him

  6. .. I'll be living like a King trust me. Benson, eat a fat one, you don't know me punk :o and was that line about being from Israel a jew joke?? I'm not jewish at all but, I didn't know this was that kinda board (with racist jokes and all)... But, yeah I can't wait to get there again. I LOVE that place!!!

it certainly was not a jew joke and its certainly not a joke coming from israel you obviously have never had to deal with them on a tourist level.if you want to know how to live on 2bucks a day there the boys to knock around with

  7. why would anyone want to live on 2 dollars per day to eat when on holiday get a life mate/no wonder your holidaying on your own.you aint from israel by any chance are you?

  8. the car was in a accident but repairable according to both garage and insurance.it didnt to me.tit.two months before any parts arrived but that was my fault because i told them i didnt want second hand parts the car was 18 months old and fully insured so why should i have used parts!they said it takes longer to get new parts, who am i to argue.bty were talking about a nissan not a porche.any way they said it would be ready by 15 march and since then its just been one excuse after another.move it to another garage?this is the best one!oh i forgot to mention this is samui!!!!

  9. have you waited for something to be fixed.my car has been in the repair shop for over 5 months, several it will be ready by dates later still waiting.iknow thai time is a little different but this is getting out of hand.jai yen yen and mai pen rai are two sayings begining to piss me off.if you lose your temper it takes longer say nothing and it feels like their taking the piss.tit i suppose but it aint easy!!!

  10. All Thais are on a kick back for Bandon. If a Thai taxi driver or other Thai person delivers a Farang at bandon, he always used to receive at least 1.000Baht.

The hopsital is a death trap and has totally no interests in anybody but their money. I totally disgust this place and their practices.

there are 4 major hospitals+ goverment hospital in samui i have lived here for some time luckily i have never had to use any of them for a serious injury, the storys i have heard from people i know and people i dont are sometimes horrendous.they really dont care weather you die or not only if you have money to pay.my advice if you cant walk to a boat or fly off the island is to go to the goverment hospital not 5 star but experienced doctors and nurses, some private rooms at a fraction of the price of the big 4 rip off death camps.ps.hopefully one day pyros the prick will be visiting the big 4 then we can all lol

  11. It's a great place D. Maybe a tad commercial but good venue all the same. They recently had a big blues 'festival' (was it Dec?). BTW, between Thai Visa posting, holidays, Bike Touring etc, when are you at your own Blues Factory??? I want your job...  :D  I'll be in Samui next weds meself...working  :o

mcdonalds is a tad commercial and a coke aint 90bht !

  12. nice open bar, music most nights very expensive drinks, paying for the music i suppose.if you are here on a sunday check out the secret garden in bangrak from 4pm usually have a few bands on.dont think there will be anything remotely in competition with blues factory.check out the 2 go go bars in chaweng pathetic is a word that springs to mind!

  13. have lived and worked in samui for over 10 years.need a change bored with paradise!.well it used to be it aint now.very expensive unless your one of the land owners, developers, agents,or have that much money you dont care about being ripped off with rent and leases.anyway thinking of moving to pattaya to open a buisiness!but is it the same there, only been on holiday golf-booze-birds,dont really know much about price of leases, house rental,schools[4 year old]am thinking jomtien possibly, not sure if its busy enough not been there for a few years.any info would be helpful.cheers

don't know what you have been working in Samui and want to do in Pattaya, but

"if you are bored with paradise" - Pattaya is certainly THE PLACE to go, i promiss you it is no paradise (nasty people call it the opposite)

yes, it is a bit cheaper than Samui, and there are much more people in every possible business!

it practically is the same, opening a business now in Pattaya, or throwing your money down a gully - maybe this way it will last longer!

Anyone who tells you otherwise, will just want a piece of it!

sorry to disappoint you, don't have to believe me, just don't say later you havn't been warned! :o:D

thanks chico but like i said ive been here for 10 years so no one will be getting a piece of it[not that much anyway] and it certainly wont be going down any gully but thanks for the warning.

anyway thinking of moving to pattaya to open a buisiness!

there are a lot people who move to Pattaya and set up a business for a hobby regardless of whether it earns money or not.  That hurts the other people who actually need to make a living.  ALso, there is an over-supply of every business in Pattaya.  During the peak of high season, like now, it looks great, but show up throughout much of the year and you will wonder how anyone keeps food in their stomachs.

What do you do in Samui?  bar and restaurant!

Pattaya is far cheaper to live in, and far bigger in buisiness terms

    about price of leases,house rental,

id you live on the west side of sukhumvit, and as you have been here 10 years, you are used to Thai style, I am sure that you could be very happy with a 12,000 baht per month 2 bedroom 2 bathroom house in a secure moo ban close to town.

12;000 is ok but is there anywhere secure to live in thailand burglars abound in samui!

    schools[4 year old]

    thanks

    am thinking jomtien possibly,

I have a 3 bdrm 2 bthrm being built there.  I am happy wih the price of

2.7 million for 70 tw and 130 square meter house

not sure if its busy enough not been there for a few years.any info would be helpful.

The slow pace is nice.  I live in South  Pattaya yet always travel east and south  to do anythnig in order to avoid pattaya.was thinking outside the centre to old for all that hassle
