  1. I stayed in January on the side "away" from the construction of that shopping mall. I never heard a thing either from the room or around the pool (which is shielded from the noise). The visible wing as you arrive at Mercure is the one to avoid if possible, the workers seem to keep on going well past dark.

    Anyway, it's a nice hotel, the price available at the usual websites is value @ around 1500 baht, there is a songtaw that runs constantly between the hotel and a comfortable (with security officer) waiting area a short stroll from everything.

    The rooms are a little small by thai hotel standards, but everything in the room is new and fresh. Nice little balcony with deck chairs and ash tray (smokers are encouraged not to smoke "in" the room).

    Don't pay more than 1800 baht for a "deluxe" room (ask for the 7th floor), and you've got a bargain.
