  1. Man that's great to hear. The game is really beautiful! I'm amazed at the skills depth and also the environments are just jawdropping in places. I haven't been this overwhelmed by a new MMO for quite awhile. Really happy to hear yall are connecting good in Thailand too!

  2. So is the LoJ server working good from Thailand? I'm still in the US and made a char there which is fine but want it to still run OK when back in Pattaya in Oct.

  3. Just curious about how many people in Thailand collect and use Rewards Miles through their credit cards. Do the point bonuses with most Restaurants and Hotels apply correctly, or what about those kinda cards that give bonus points for spending on groceries? I'll be returning to Thailand soon and I use lots of ways to collect rewards points for converting into FFlyer Mile points and want to see what credit cards will still be useful in Thailand like the Chase Saphire or Freedom for example. I guess any of the travel cards will work great, but those for spending onshoping will probably only apply in American stores.

  4. Well a little odd maybe but could someone tell me if they've seen electrical outlets anywhere on Jomtien or Pattaya beach? I'm thinking of having a small beach party perhaps in the future and would plug in my sound this way. Maybe you've seen vendors using electricity somehow? I might need to rent a honda generator.

  5. As an avid gamer, it's really way too difficult for me to pick out one, single game.

    Maybe Okami for PS2?

Very tricky to name a single game but my all time faves include:

    Atari 2600:

    Space Invaders

    Asteroids

    BBC Micro:

    Chuckie Egg

    Elite

    Spectrum:

    Jet Set Willy

    Head Over Heels

    Atari ST and Amiga:

    Driller

    Lemmings

    Stunt Car Racer

    Dungeon Master

    Snes:

    Zelda:Link to The Past

    N64:

    Zelda Ocarina

    Mario 64

    1080

    PSX:

    Ridge racer

    PS2:

    Ratchet and Clank series

    Xbox:

    Halo 2

PC, 360 and PS3 all still making better games so the best is yet to come for these systems

My god - I have been an avid gamer since Christmas 1980 when I got the Atari for Christmas

Me too, Atari, Intellivision, and Coleco. But really starting loving PC gaming starting with a C64 and RPGs like the Ultima series and sirtec games. Been loving gaming ever since. One of my alltime favorite game memories is with System Shock 2. Oh and I love you mentioned Dungeon Master. I really loved that one too! Looking out for Guild Wars 2 now! Hopefully itll pull me in like the old Ultima Online days, and I guess with Wow at first too.. but this a different pull i hope.

  6. I'm getting, looking forward to it a lot. I hope we have some good smooth servers to connect to here in THailand. My ISP TOT in Pattaya is just terrible. I can't even do video calling on Skype without it disconnecting me, and Diablo 3 was a nightmare. I will probably upgrade my internet if possible for GW2. We should get on the same Server!

  7. Simply put, IMHO, there is no restaurant in Thailand that serves authentic Mexican food!

Having traveled extensively in Mexico, I've never found a restaurant or roadside food stand that

didn't have decent and spicy salsa picante, yet I've never seen it in Thailand. Well, except for

some _weak_ tomato based substitute. That's kinda like a Korean restaurant never having Kimche,

a Thai place not having Nam Plao or Nam Phet, nouc mam in Vietnam or yu lu in China.

Plus, the Mexican dishes found in Thailand are a poor attempt at duplicating real thing.

Im from Texas and there are plenty of Authentic Mexican Restarants here esp in Austin and I don't think its nearly the quality of good Tex Mex. They lack ingredients and are very very basic. Good Tex Mex is the best Mexican Food style to me. And in Bangkok there is an amazing restaurant for Tex Mex style mexican and it's at Bourbon Street. Pretty much everything they have is great and they specialize in both Cajun and Mexican, but on Tues I think it is, they have a Mexican Buffet that is truly delicious! I make a point of being in BKK on Tuesdays when I visit just to go there. Its good to read the comments here though about Mexican in Pattaya since I'm new here and haven't tried many places yet.

  8. Well I'm sorry for those who choose to belittle what you don't understand. I personally don't smoke or drink. If you were to look further, you'll find it's much more than what you're expecting and it's spreading all over with regionals in most developed countries around the world. Most cities have large Burner communities and they are the absolute best people to invite to parties and a much safer, happier, fun and respectful people than your average Thailand party kids and bar hoppers. Please review the 10 main Burner principles. Especially the one about leave no trace. This is an ideal sorely lacking in Thailand from foreigners.

    RADICAL INCLUSION

Anyone may be a part of Burning Man. We welcome and respect the stranger. No prerequisites exist for participation in our community.

    GIFTING

Burning Man is devoted to acts of gift giving. The value of a gift is unconditional. Gifting does not contemplate a return or an exchange for something of equal value.

    DECOMMODIFICATION

In order to preserve the spirit of gifting, our community seeks to create social environments that are unmediated by commercial sponsorships, transactions, or advertising. We stand ready to protect our culture from such exploitation. We resist the substitution of consumption for participatory experience.

    RADICAL SELF-RELIANCE

Burning Man encourages the individual to discover, exercise and rely on his or her inner resources.

    RADICAL SELF-EXPRESSION

Radical self-expression arises from the unique gifts of the individual. No one other than the individual or a collaborating group can determine its content. It is offered as a gift to others. In this spirit, the giver should respect the rights and liberties of the recipient.

    COMMUNAL EFFORT

Our community values creative cooperation and collaboration. We strive to produce, promote and protect social networks, public spaces, works of art, and methods of communication that support such interaction.

    CIVIC RESPONSIBILITY

We value civil society. Community members who organize events should assume responsibility for public welfare and endeavor to communicate civic responsibilities to participants. They must also assume responsibility for conducting events in accordance with local, state and federal laws.

    LEAVING NO TRACE

Our community respects the environment. We are committed to leaving no physical trace of our activities wherever we gather. We clean up after ourselves and endeavor, whenever possible, to leave such places in a better state than when we found them.

    PARTICIPATION

Our community is committed to a radically participatory ethic. We believe that transformative change, whether in the individual or in society, can occur only through the medium of deeply personal participation. We achieve being through doing. Everyone is invited to work. Everyone is invited to play. We make the world real through actions that open the heart.

    IMMEDIACY

Immediate experience is, in many ways, the most important touchstone of value in our culture. We seek to overcome barriers that stand between us and a recognition of our inner selves, the reality of those around us, participation in society, and contact with a natural world exceeding human powers. No idea can substitute for this experience.

But I'm not out to convince people. I'm here to find Burners who are spread around Thailand and want to find each other for events they relate to and want to contribute to, and be connected with others of like minds; However, The Community is open to everyone, but there are rules of conduct and etiquette to understand. Thanks for your interest. =)

  9. Hi I'm Joel, I'm an Artist, DJ, VJ, and Party Organizer from Austin Tx. I became a Burner in 2007 and since then I've never found a more diverse and loving mixture of people and worldly ideals anywhere else. It is such a wonderful mix of all the best elements I've seen all over the world and from all it's time periods of past, present, and future. The Burning Man Principles (link blocked) teach a way of experiencing and celebrating life with others in a way that's been perfected over decades into a beautiful blend of everything the world has to offer but also to respect the land and people of the earth. It's a way of partying with a mutually positive etiquette and also in a more expressive way.

Let's form a local tribe, to cooperate and help these principles spread through events here in Thailand. For those that respect the wonderful beauty of this land and her peoples. Let's join together and get something started and educate those unaware. On FB I've created a group to gather other artists, musicians, djs, and BM lovers of all types that want to see these kinds of events happening here, and also to form up with groups to travel to other places for them as well. I know there's lots of you out there! Let yourselves be known! *Namaste!

Please join our group here and tell others you think who'd fit in well! Since I can't post a link here. On FB just search for the group name: Burning Man / Burners in Thailand.

  10. "The mother will return from Russia and be re-united with her daughter"

Was she a mail order bride...... and the daughter will be ripped from his arms and end up in her mothers arms who she does not really know and most likely end up back in Russia, then eventually in Pattaya. What a life for the poor innocent girl.

Ummm.... OK, I will ask. Pattaya? <deleted>?

He's making a Joke that Russian girls with bad family lives often grow up to be prostitutes, and some of them get shipped off to Thailand to end up in Pattaya . The real sad thing though is that even if that were the case. Pattaya is a hell of a lot better place to be than the oppressive place that is Russia and The Ukraine. No matter what your method of transport, your best off doing anything to get out of Russia unless you have very wealthy parents and even then its still a terrible place to suffer. There's a good reason they drink so much Vodka!
