If you think that about most Thais - why bother living or visiting here?
MOST = not all !

It goes down in this order:
low lives
no lives
less-than-no-lives
(most) Thais
Sad but true.

Do you know the name of the shop near Changpuek?

I went to a few gold shops in Chiang Mai and none of them sell any gold bars.
The one near Changpuek gate inside the moat always had. Even in larger quantities. The bars are never on display. You have to ask for and they bring them upfront.

..... The signing officer looked gobsmacked when asked about a mail-in address - like it was something they'd never considered. We got the answer "If they ever made a mail-in address, then we'd be informed".....
Was there last month. Seems they have an email address. Proudly presented on a board next to back door. For your convience the also display the password.

Somewhere I read in another forum the Honda City is limited to 190kmp too. Have one. Drive one, but the roads here are not made for more than 120kmp.

Exactly the same with TAT, start with desired figure and work back
Me thinks they just skip the second part (working back)

Today, Fri 6.1., 16h00.
It was time for my weekend shopping at BigC Lamphun. Normaly it takes me 20 mins. to get there from my house in Mae Tha, but due to construction and congestion on Super High way this time, I arrived in Lamphun about 40 mins. later.
Knowing the online 90 days reporting system is down, I had the paperwork already done and in the car.
Yes I was pretty late, but what the heck. Just take a look to see the new place upclose. It is on my way anyway and I had still almost 3 weeks time to report.
When I pulled up around 16h40 the place was deserted and the parking lot empty. Driving by I spotted a sign saying: Hours 08:00 - 16:30. Poooh, too late, but I wanted to read all the information on the door, parked the car and got out.
Before I could reach the steps, an office came out and asked me what I want. I said: "Do you do 90 days reporting?" Not expecting anything, he said "Yes, give me your passport and have a seat." They have benches outside where I waited less than 5 mins. until he came back with my passport including the confirmation slip.
I asked him "Do you do retirement extensions as well?" and he said "YES". I asked: "Do I need an appointment?" Him: "No need. Not many people." (This is a special message to scooterboy)
But there is still room for improvement. Hope next time I don't have to get out of the car.....
(
=irony)
Later I looked at the slip and it was odd. Not from my form and not a computer print. Something that looked like a photo copy of a photo copy of a photo copy. No name on but at least the red Immi stamp and a signature.

Living in Lamphun province, I just did my 90-days reporting online as usual.
On top of the screen it still says:
Immigration Branch Office in your residencd area :
Chiang Mai Immigration Tell : 0 5327 7510 , 0 5320 1756 E-mail : [email protected]Hmm. Let's see how this turns out. Will update this post accordingly.
The approval come from CM. 3 hours later than the former ones.

It seems the service is down now. Is this another "enhancement" like with the online queue system?

1)
No. They don't slow down but they hunk the horn.
2)
These white stripes on the roads? Just street graffiti...!

What are your plans to mitigate losses in case of bank failure?
- Transfer funds back to home or other country
- Transfer to multiple banks to keep each bank under 1M
- Move to other instruments such as stock or bonds
- Transfer to a government bank with guarantee of full amount of deposit
- Move to a larger, more stable and solvent Thai bank
- Keep it in a mattress, that is no banks
- Does not effect me
- No change
- Change your fiat money into real money.
I go with option number 9.
Allan Greenspan: "Only gold is money. Everything else is credit"
I say: "Fiat (money) is fraud"

My 90 days report was due Sun 27/9.
Last Sunday early morning around 03h00 I just "played" with the online feature. Prepared my paper work already and planed to mail it in next week.
To my suprise the online reporting worked out smooth as silk. I used Firefox and IE Tab V2. Monday afternoon I wanted to check if my report is "in process". No. Already APPROVED. That was quick.
Well, I lost almost two weeks, but what the heck when I can do it online.

When I obtained my 2 year 'temporary' car and motorcycle licences, earlier this year, I provided a declaration from my embassy as 'proof' of my address in Thailand.
Is this not also acceptable for the 5 year licences? Or, are there different criteria?
2 year???? is this a new thing or??? Thought it still was 1 year and than 5 years..
Glegolo
Seems he means one car and one motorcycle licence makes in total two.

Well done Chiang Mai immigration, good news indeed.
Good News? What's good about a limited hours (open 11am) Immigration at the Prom? 85% of expats needing services live within 3 km of the Old City,...not the LONG ride to the Promenada. In 2 years I've only been there twice,...transportation there is a headache (and costly) from Nimman neighborhood.
Dumb, dumb. dumb,...accept those getting a bonus for creating this inconvenient hardship.
FYI:
CM IMMI services 3 (three!) provinces. Chiangmai, Lamphun and Lampang.
Do you have a map?

Ah, I see that the cancellation feature seems to have disappeared. Sorry for the out-of-date suggestion, lj. In fact, the whole online queue page and the immigration website is down at the moment too, according to my browser. Maybe they're in the process of "upgrading" to IE only? ;-)
.....
This makes sense. Perfectly sense. Well, perfectly Thai sense. IE will be discontinued.
From now on Windows 10 has no Internet Explorer anymore. The new browser is EDGE.

Wonder if Chiang Mai immigration will take note as they charge 500 Baht for a residency certificate unless you are willing to wait a month for it?
Take a photo of the person asking for the 500 baht and see what happens. A tape recorder would be even better. They must be getting nervous by now.
.
.
AHHH! That's why they put up new signs everywhere at CM IMMI: "No Photos!!!"
-
No that's for immigrants from Burma, Laos, etc
I just tried to do the onlinereport but it didn't work for me.
Maybe because i have a new passport on which i not yet exit or entered the country.
Up to the post office , 35 bath for registered mail.
It's 37 baht for EMS (registered mail) and 3 baht for the return envelope.
